Only if you LARP as a Roman.
Everything else is a joke.

Depends. Some of them just go out there and faggot (remember "lightning bolt! lightning bolt!") But then some of them do actually build real armor and actually fight at full speed/power with dull and/or wood weapons.

everyone here is LARPing all the time

And yes, "faggot" is now a verb.

tfw live action role seriousing

If you mean those Slav guys who fight with swords in full medieval armor then sure.

>Is larping the most Jow Forums hobby?
Yes, as long as you are fighting seriously with other people.

Holy shit I actually fought against that guy this year in Rome (US team).
Also not LARP but I understand.

I can't be the only hema faggot on this board.
I'm training for a competition and it's been great having a focus on which to train. There is no ranking system, so I could end up fighting very skilled and strong fighters. I've been quite literally aiming at getting fighting fit.
>improving cardio endurance by doing hiit and running
>leg stuff for improving footwork, running and >gymnastics and isometric conditioning for balance and static muscle
>heavy weighted sword, kettle ball and dumbells for strength, hiit, explosive movement and muscle endurance

It can be a Jow Forums hobby with the right focus and complementary excersize aimed at improving overall fencing skill.

Would you say hema improved your coordination with the arms?
In day to day activities too.

Yes noticeably so actually. I've never been a particularly agile or nimble person but my balance and surefootedness has also really improved a lot.
(Been doing it for a year and a half and properly training hard for the last 4 months)

SCA heavy combat is pretty dope exercise
all of the nerdy joy of larping as medieval knights or roman legions, with the added benefit of weighted rattan weapons and functional armor and shields.

These fuckers go hard as hell it's a total blast despite how fucking dorky it is.

youtu.be/UOMWhb8bTZ0

Doing it (and doing it correctly) is a very good thing to do & I would recommend that everyone try to get into this stuff.

How do you tell who fucking wins?

No. Lifting is.

What if you lift to hit people harder and faster?

>thousands of dollars worth of gear
>wears gumboots
muh emersion

If you fall down you’re out.
One team wins when the other teams has all gone down or if they outnumber the other 3 to 1.

Bohurt lad reporting in.
Fighting oriented medieval martial arts and sports are demanding as hell, especially when you’re reaching the upper eschelons of competition.

>Do Hiit (mostly tabatas) 4 times a week; run 3 miles everyday
>Football style footwork drills every team practice
>free weights and kettle ball workouts 3 times a week
>Lift pretty much every other day of the week
>coupled with team practices that are mostly wrestling and stand up fighting oriented
>and lastly Hit tires with axes and hammer for 3000 strikes a week

Dropped 30 lbs in the first year I did this. Most fun I’ve ever had working out.

The ones who stands when it's over.

only if you chew celery while doing so

Is celery the new onion? Lmfao.

or e-stating, which is basically the same

Hello fellow HMBro. I didnt make to BoTN this year, but Team USA did real good.

HEMA pops up in /asp/ every now and then. Its a great work out.

HMB is even harder. And (marginally) less dorky.

Also, thats not larp you dingus!

Outside of America, MAYBE. American LARPers are the biggest faggots on this earth, pozzed to shit. I truly, truly envy the European LARP scene and hope they continue to at least keep bullshit American style rules out. Americans who wants something LARPy of any good quality have to do SCA or HEMA.

Are you me?
There has to be more of us lurking Jow Forums and /asp/
I dropped 14kg in my first year.
>lift and cardio all week
>fight in armour every sunday with the lads
We fight with wooden weapons when we train, it fucks up the armours/fighters less. Steel for tourneys.

Twist and tuck is perfectly sufficient and the optimal work/benefit ratio

Oh hell yea,
I wish there was HMB generals somewhere on this god forsaken site considering 60% of us most definitely lurk on here often.

>Tfw the pure bliss of fighting hard, getting fit and then hitting the town with the lads every weekend.

We’re currently getting started to get ready for US nationals this year.

>Tfw the pure bliss of fighting hard, getting fit and then hitting the town with the lads every weekend.
This, so much this.
Awesome! I hope you have a lot of fun and few injuries in the nationals bro. Is your team in ACL? IMCF is a lot bigger than HMBIA in the US right?
My club is on HMBIA, but we might switch for the next tourney.

my Team does both. We get like 7 national events a year because of it.
ACL/IMCF= More, newer fighters and lots of events for fights
HMB USA= Better fighters, less events
I’d say doing both in the US is the best way to go.

Yeah, I think you are right. Doing both is the way to go. The rules are 99% the same in combat, the only real difference is list holding. I think IMCF historicity rules are more reasonable tho.

Lax historicity is IMCFs #1 way in drawing in the HMB euro crowd via leniency.
The marshals at Botn are pain in the ass.

LARPing is a Jow Forums hobby in the sense everyone on Jow Forums is a dork that pretends to be a chad.

>optimal work benefit ratio

but that would be the bread box since you buy it once and never have to do any work ever again

No, because a bread box takes up counter space making it's usefulness proportional to how big your kitchen is

maybe in a few hundred years people will larp as us

sounds dull

doesn't that make bread stale? you take it out of the bag?
