Fit careers and majors

I need your help Jow Forums.
I'm a 22 year old who just switched his major from Pre-Medicine to CompSci. The reason for this is because naturally my parents wanted me to become a doctor, but I cant fucking deal with another 4 years of medical school and residency and all that other shit.

What are Jow Forums majors/careers to have? Working out is a huge part of my life and it's the ONLY thing in my life that has structure and stability. Is there anything you guys recommend for a 22 year old starting a new major? Is compsci a shit choice/will it affect my gains much?

Please help, I'm super lost and can't ask my family for help or advice because they're ALL unemployed neets.

I thought about accounting or finance, but fell onto CompSci because I do like math and am fine with computers....

Thanks in advance

LOL you missed out on GOAT fit career being a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. Have fun not working with your brain, using dexterity and endurance, and making 300k a year

Oh I'm sorry but are YOU a doctor?

Become a trainer or smthn

If you like math and you're willing to learn a little programming go into data science. Major in statistics if you can, otherwise CS/Math dual or Math with CS minor. Field is fast growing great pay, plenty of time to lift and not much stress

>Go into CompSci
>Get job at Google or Microsoft
>They literally lock you in the buildings, demand 20,000 pages of flawless code every 48 hours, provide beds, meals, gyms, counciling, and pay 6 figures as a starting salary

Sell your soul, get rich and swole.

Got a Zoology and Environmental Science BSc, did an additional 2 years and trained as a zookeeper. I was 300 pounds starting
Worked at that for a couple of years, lost 80 pounds, found I enjoyed teaching more. Left that and applied to a Masters of Education to become qualified as a teacher. In the interim time of quitting my job and starting the masters in September, I became a level 4 Personal Trainer, Matt Pilates Instructor and some other stuff.
Becoming swole slowly and hoping to also do Physical Education, just need to talk to the department of education about it. Prob gonna do a few health and sport science modules in university while doing the teaching masters.
The point of my rambling post is that you can take a long time to get where you want to go.
I originally thought environmental scientist, then zookeeper, then informal educator, now I'm moving to formal education while toying with the idea of PTing/school coaching on the side.
If you are healthy, you'll have a longer life than most, so you have more to play around with and do something that will give you satisfaction.

Holy shit that's a perfect body. Who is this girl?

Lol going into a surgical specialty and the money's much more than that with better hours.

im a neet living with my parents. any anons with jobs that are very easy where they just browse Jow Forums most days?

Curious about this too

Dunno about easy, but I'm a duty radio tech at an international airport. Most are empty days lurking on 4ch and reddit, but when shit breaks, it better be back up in under 15 minutes.

Work is really boring. I'm kind of unsure about what I want to do career wise and have been disappointed with my major. Been contemplating learning more unity and unreal engine and getting into gamedev because I'm creative and passionate about gaming, though I'd hate the crunch hour ethic and selling my soul to corporate. Wished I had pursued CompSci but then again I'm too bored in school to learn much but maintain 3.0+ GPA. Really enjoyed my DBA class though.

going to become a barber, own barber shops, then branch out to other entrepreneurial ventures. get fucked college fags have fun with debt while i charge people $30 for a 20 minute haircut.

>line yourself up for a life of huge money and social prestige with knowledge that is literally worth its weight in gold
>YOU KNOW WHAT? I WANT TO BE A WAGE KEK COMPUTER MONKEY UNTIL A AI REPLACES ME IN 20 YEARS

Hey op. Take it from somebody who didnt go to college because "it was a meme"

you are a fucking retard and will regret it for the rest of your god damn life.

Your gains dont mean shit you can stay fit into your fucking 50s

Fucking loser.
Go reassess everything about yourself immediately

One of the most jacked guys I knew was an ER doc. He drove a brand new blown Vette, and his wife was 1/2 his age. Every computer nerd I know wants to eat a gun from job stress.

is being rich really worth it if you have to sell your soul though? And who cares about some buff guy who sits in front of a screen all day anyway?

Who is this fertile brapper ?

I’m going to graduate this year with an economics degree, join the marines as an officer for four years, then retire into teaching high school economics back home so I can spend the rest of my days doing something easy that I love with my family all nearby.

I am miserable now but not for long.

unless you get shot and lose your limbs lol

What can I say, I have the calling. My father did it, his father did it, and so too did my great grandfather. My friends think I’m a retard cause I have a 4.0 and a near perfect GRE but I could give a fuck about making a ton of money I wanna do fun stuff :~)

No debt btw, 36 ACT = full ride

You made a good choice. Doctors have to deal with people and people are annoying. It's why I didn't (couldn't) do it and went into materials research instead (metallic foams). I just have to deal with my colleagues and occasionally talk some undergrads in seminars and tutorials, and a bit of lab supervising. I get paid for these on top of my salary and funded PhD studies as well.

Pay is terrible but it makes me happy. I get access to toys my mind can play with, and access to a university gym and young university pussy which refreshes every 3-4 years.

Computer Science is a shit choice. Why not become a PA? I's less school, pays well, and people will respect you.

Tech is probably the best field for that then. I browsed plebit and drank free coffee for 8 hours today while I waited on my team to finish their parts of the project. Just don't specialize in being a code monkey tho, learn security, engineering, and network. The more specialized you're education is, the more you stand out, get paid, and don't have to do mindless shit

>doesn’t matter if you sell your soul to stare at a computer screen all day, it pays well

Explain this meme to me

Is there room to move up in cyber security careers? I'm a comp sci major who is working on security certificates because I'm interested in the field

I am.
Lazy ass pussy you are

I'm in CompSci as well, that sounds horrible. I wish I could be a NEET.

Where do you learn this

Why not coding

I smell a miserable little shit who never applied for that tech job they said they'd get when they got out of college with a CS degree

>it was a meme
Well, it is a meme if you choose a meme degree, like me

Listen mate.

JUST DO WHAT YOU LOVE.

You can't take it with you when you die... have a great job that you love doing everyday, die happy.

BSc, MSW here

>learn a bunch of different shit
>specialize
Choose only one faggot.

Hey buddy, you could still go back someday. My friend's dad just graduated and he's 56 years old. He's a good man and has a whole huge family but did it anyway. If you can see your own mistakes you have potential, bro.

Enlist as an Air Force firefighter

>docs have to deal with people
There are plenty of directions you can go with a medical degree that doesn't require patient contact.

Analyst, engineer, architect. Consulting or FTE positions will be in demand for a long time. If you go mgmt and can break through middle mgmt, CSO, CTO become viable options.

You forgot
>never actually see fire
T.real firefighter

>tons of free time
Yea right. You'll be doing bullshit exercises and rolling/unrolling hoses all day long. I know a lot of military firefighters quit because it is so mundane.

technical support wherever
you do whatever the fuck you want for 7 hours, the one hour is broken down in 5-15 minutes of phone calls/e-mails with complete idiots
gets boring so fast you'll hate browsing and wish you found a real job
and then you find a real job

yea bro ER docs get NO STRESS let me tell ya

next year i'm starting aviation studies to become a pilot, hated the idea of sitting in an office or selling shit

Transcribing interviews and reselling shit

Web developer

I know that but the less contact the less money, to the point you may as well have studied biomedical science (ie the bachelor's for the guys too stupid to grasp the statistical mathematics in biology and otherwise not logical enough for chemistry or physics), and maybe make median salary.

I was the third highest achieving student in my high school, obtained the grades and offers at some really good institutions to study medicine but bailed on the career choice after I got memed into being a nursing assistant by my mom and aunt at the time who figured it would strengthen my application. The more I thought about it, the more I hated the idea of talking to people to stupid to even eat fruit and veg occassionally about why they are sick. Making £40k pa is more than okay, I could make more if I did my own research and secured funding but as it is now I can pretty much leave my work at the door end of shift.

not true, you can make lots of money in big pharma as a doctor

Meme tier. Everyone can make a website nowadays.

Federal Law Enforcement.
about 60k (made around 100K last year with overtime)

in a smaller team right now and a lot of dudes are pretty like minded which helps

also getting 2 hours of shift time to work out is pretty nice desu.

forgot to post negatives:
can be boring as fuck depending on whats going on.

also the area its in is pretty wealthy, so 60K is notrichbutcomfytier.jpg

mia sand

And even so retards still pay for it, easy job unless the clients wants something very detailed, good and time consuming.
An unstable job, but not bad overall.
What is really considered meme-tier is mine, being a
psychologist
look up her nudes boys, I beat my dick to death on it

B-but you do have to use your brain to code

Yes there are. You can pretty much do whatever you see fit. Plus if you have a background in business or comp sci then you're set in terms of career advancement and salary. Unfortunately I would say you may have to invest in some certifications if anything. Sec+ and CCNA would add more reputation and bucks to your career.

>tfw no z Tetris block gf

The role of doctors in pharma companies is to manage the tests for the research the pharmacists and pharmasynthetic chemists need. You still have to deal with people (the public). I've looked into it all user, I'm happy I backed out and didn't get memes by my parents or roasties at the time. I could make a lot of money doing what I do now, I just don't want the extra workload.

dude I went through exactly what you did but I'm still younger than you
>17
>Parents want a doctor

>Realize I could I teach myself everything I want to learn

I'm 21 now and although I might be considered a failure and have spent quite a bit of money in the process, I'd like to think that I have a nice wealth of knowledge across my fields of study.

OP, my advice to you is to look for something in the trades, perhaps something that's recession-proof
(for example, during low economic times, people still need their cars, plumbing and electricity). Make sure the trade you're looking into is very fulfilling to you and in high-demand where you live, a lot of us Millenials won't give a second glance to blue collar work because of the big tech companies and medicine.

Currently halfway through med school, pondering where to emigrate after wards. USA or Germany, Jow Forums?

Just troll around on WSO

Private equity guy here

21 and manage a supplement store. Never went to school, saving up to get certified as a PT in a local gym, then moving towards a PT business / gym to create a generation of new body builders. Will not going to school fuck me from A to M?

Attached: 1514009347903.png (227x222, 119K)

thats fine bro

what millennial parents dont understand is the journey between point A and B

A student B doctor. sounds fucking easier said than done without a proper mentor who has been in the field.

That's without a doubt my dude. I got fucking roasted when my parents found out I was dropping and switching courses all willy nilly.
My parents are immigrants and have experienced a lot of financial turbulence. They really wanted me to have a prestigious, comfy job and that's to be expected but honestly there is a good chance they will not understand the amount of schooling and dedication for that kind of job. In the end though, what they want is not what you want

Just graduated this May with a degree in finance and starting out with a base pay of 65k with a bonus (target of 5k) plus a pension and 5% 401k match. Got a job in oil and gas...

Whatever you do, FINISH IT! I'm stuck in a shitty trade and am not going back to school at 30. Wasted 10 years of my life doing shit work

The most chad career is the career option YOU wanna do, without input from anyone else. If you truly enjoy it, then you will truly rock at doing it.

Ayy fellow env science here. I’m contemplating going into GIS, but right now I’m doing an internship that will give me the connections to net a better job. I thought I was the only one here lol.

Prepare to look back on this decision in 10 years with deep regret.

>Have fun not working with your brain
Are you so sure about that, brainlet?

>my parents wanted me to become a doctor
If this is someone's only motivation for going into medical school, they're not going to make it, and if they actually do make it they won't amount to shit. I can immediately tell from your post that you're some faggot welder or plumber who thinks he's hardcore for having a blue collar job. Comp sci is one of the few career choices that is near-immune to being made obsolete by AI.

You made the right choice, OP. In fact coding is similar to lifting. I think of coding as the mental counterpart to lifting: a strenuous activity that, when performed regularly, bring major benefits. You'll encounter endless posers who claim to code and don't actually code, you'll have to strengthen your skills while regularly keeping up with new technologies. But you'll also make shit tons of money that will NOT be going towards some 8-year debt accretion marathon.

I want to be a wild land fire fighter. They usually hire around January/February. What should I start doing now to get hired?

OP here. Sorry guys I knocked tf out...

Thats incredible bro good for you!
Thanks man
Yeah at the same time Doctors will push me to suicide. Do you know any doctors user?
I've been thinking about joining the army or something, but I'm 22 and a brown guy. I think I'll get harassed no? What was your experience like in the Air Force?

>300k a year
Must be a shit orthopedic surgeon then. Should be at least $520k from my experience. SM surgeon I know makes $610k. Assuming you're US, of course.

I'm a medfag wanting to do radiology. It's best that you decided it wasn't for you before dumping lots of money into something. I'm on the fence about just graduating with an MD and MBA and going into consulting then eventually private equity, skipping residency.
There are times, where if I could go back, I'd go for CS or business/finance. But then again, you do almost anything with an MD just because the letters make you look smart.
If you have good time management skills, CS shouldn't be an issue, but that also depends on how quickly you finish the degree. I've been able continue lifting for some time now. Do I get to lift as frequently? No, about 3 to 4 times a week. But I've been doing it long enough where it doesn't negatively affect me; it keeps me sane too.

Attached: 1528688653289.png (500x593, 169K)

I forgot to mention: I don't know much about the field, but if you like CS and were considering business, there is always financial engineering. It's essentially the Chad of engineering fields, imo.

>t.underqualified paramedic who never sees a real fire barring highway wrecks

Friend is going in to ophthalmology. Because he's 1/64th indigenous kangaroo man, he gets $700 a week from the government to study. The guys he knows who have their own practice work about 30 hours a week and pull 7 digits. Great once you get in but until then it's hypercompetitive. Really, any desk based speciality (gp, endo, sports doctor etc) is going to have a great work life balance and easily enough money to support a family.

The best career is one that stimulates your brain muscles while leaving enough time to work out and have a family. The dudes making fucktons of money in finance but while working an 80 hour week are doing it very wrong.

>teaching high schoolers
>enjoyable
oh man

>tfw only interested in learning about the body and mind and how they work
>don't want to be a doctor or any other variation of clinician
>don't want to be a psychologist
>don't want to be some lab technician
Looks like suicide it is

Have fun blowing your brains out due to boredom

Financial engineering is a phony field and only useful to enter into IB from schools like Colombia

Do what feels right. But I would say that education in the long term is important not only for your future salary but also because knowledge is power (as corny as it sounds, it's very true)

You can easily start by enrolling in online classes and building up some credits

Own a pressure washing business that I started as soon as I finished HS back in 2010(a lot of work if you're up for it). Made very decent money doing that. With the money I made from that, I opened a bakery/clothing boutique with my wife back in 2016, it's doing better than I thought it would. My credit score is 750(due to not having student loans fuck me in the ass) and I make about 300k on those two businesses alone.

Be an MD researcher you fucking retard. Imagine being this dense and thinking you could be a doctor with a snap of your fingers

Getting an MD is no longer an option for me at this point. The closest I'd be able to still feasibly do is get a PharmD.

Actually if you are in CompSci best thing to do is specialise in something even if it’s boring and then work in contracting or consulting in that field for a much higher price while paying less tax because the money goes through your own business

t.jelly loser who wants praise for serving his country when he only served seconds on his plate in the mess room hall.

Is there a difference between compsci and software engineering?

Thanks for the advice Amigo, im sure 1 class here and there wouldnt hurt

Rope accsess and NDT

I follow that chick on Insta, such a stuck up fuck honestly, thinks she’s gods gift or something

What major is this?

Fucking retards out here.

I've never been into academia like all my friends. They are all doctors and lawyers, researchers etc. I went went a simple associates degree in accounting and started doing freelance bookkeeping and taxes.
I can make as much as a doctor if I choose, but I rarely want that much money.
I usually work 20 hours a week

>got my master's degree in material science
>un/fa/ and un/fit/ diploma
>no job because I don't want to do a thesis

Any cops here? Would you recommend?

I failed 3 majors. Now I'm a 25 years old wanting to start my 4th lol (elite uni tho, basically MIT level) I only studied hard one time for my exams and failed after that I never really tried anymore

I don't know when I became this lazy, but I know it will fuck my life up forever if I don't get my shit together.
