Painting. I've been a fan of Bob Ross for as long as I remember. I think the Joy of Painting series was broadcast on TV at some point when I was still in elementary school.

Would you say you're any good?

i used to love watching his show

3d Animation

I'm a fan of doodling myself but I adore Bob and all of his works aside from him getting meme'd he had so much knowledge

I love drawing. Im not bad, but im pretty far from any professional level. Mostly i do arts about historical stuff (knights, first ww uniforms, old trains and buildings etc).

I also love doing programming.

Hobbies
>martial arts
>competitive fighting
>playing bass
>wanting to kill myself.

I think so. Other people like my work. I've had several people that have been painting for over 30 years tell me "they wish they had my talent" and that it's a shame that I don't paint more often. I'm never really satisfied with my paintings though.

I have a lot of nerd interests, hoping to avert the stereotype of being out of shape by getting fit.

Have a gym membership with free personal training and down 100lbs. Just recently started working out, so I think I'm heading down the right road here.

I play in bands and every once in a while sculpt stuff

It used to be playing guitar, specially virtuosism stuff like solos. Now I only care about losing weight and looking jacked, life is pointless and meaningless. Make sure you are jacked, have pussy and a big fat wallet

Does photography count.

>wanting to kill myself

OP said not "stereotypical of a fitizen"

It's not specifically a fit hobby so sure.

do you have a giant anime girl on your car

I too find both of these things enjoyable, but with one, you can make money, and still do meth all the time, but with the other, you get to hit people with a stick.

I want to get into tap dancing after watching Singing In the Rain but I left it too late at 22

I'm starting gardening but I only have a bunch of cactus

Cacti and succulents are a good start. I have a bunch of succulents and my mum helped me get started with a small herb garden too. Parsley and mint are good hardy herbs for beginners. As far as I see it, anything that requires more work than cacti/succulents, you better be able to eat it too. But that’s just me.

Apart from a small amount of gardening, I also started getting into aromatherapy because I like my apartment smelling nice and a little bit of interior design.

Playing Fire Emblem just like you, OP.
I also take care of plants and attempt to get into drawing.

Garbage. Play an actually good game like Let Us Cling Together

I'm the dungeon master in a D&D game and I like learning foreign languages.

I don't like the way Tactics Ogre's and FFT's maps are structured, nor their sandboxy gameplay style and general lack of statistical minimalism.
Try playing Thracia 776 to get what I mean.

Writing. I've self-pubbed two books, and I'm sitting on four novels/novellas in varying stages of refinement/near-completion I plan on submitting around (pray for me, boiz)

Reading, obviously. Primarily literary fiction (/fitlit/ master race reporting).

Playing drums. Was in a hardcore punk band like Jerry's Kids and Void for a few years.

On my days off I like to just wander around the city, a cemetery, the conservatory, or down the lakefront. No headphones.

I spend many hours daily organising and masturbating to my meticulously catalogued Japanese porn collection.

How has self-publishing gone? Was it a cash sink?

I hunt which i dont see alot of Jow Forums posters saying they do. I also golf and play pool.

Use to fish alot but my friend who had a boat stopped talking to me over petty shit.

Programming, 3d modelling, board games, video games, anime, learning languages, magic, cooking.
Need some more money to get into robotics and sculpting.

Sorry for the longer post, but I'm assuming you're asking cuz you're considering self-pubbing so I figured I'd give you a more detailed perspective.

But fuck yeah it was a cash sink, but mostly because I was a dumbass and I ordered about fifty copies thinking I could move a decent amount of that. I did it through Createspace which allows you to list on Amazon and make royalties through that, so I shouldn't have ordered as many copies. I was doing Goodreads giveaways and posting on other forums and Instagram about giving away copies so I could just get rid of em. I also published a literary journal which I also ordered copies of, so I sank about $600 into all those copies.

If you're asking regarding hiring people for the editing, cover design, typesetting, etc., I did all of that myself. I revised the writing SO many times, then it took me about a year and a half and easily a few hundred bucks in proof copies changing the typesetting and tweaking minute aspects of the cover design until I was satisfied enough to release it.

In terms of reception, it's been difficult to move copies. I have a few ratings on Goodreads but zero ratings on Amazon, despite the modest amount of copies that have sold. Surprisingly, my first self-pubbed book was a DIY chapbook stapled together and I moved fifty copies of it relatively quick. A perfect-bound paperback with professional presentation? Very hard to move copies. I stepped out of DIY zine culture full of people who are down to read even the shittiest fiction and poetry and into a market flooded with shit genre fiction and erotica and thousands of new books being self-pubbed a day that look like dogshit.

I honestly wish I either scrapped this particular book or submitted it to some publishers/contests for first-time authors.

I grow mushrooms for my local restaurants
I know there's a few mushroom bros lurking around on Jow Forums. Come say hi, I need friendos

Classical guitar and writing poetry. I wouldn’t call it a hobby...but I also read a lot of books/magazines/journals.

Classical pianist, collection of bespoke suits, real estate investor. Definitely don't fall into the stereotype .

I've been playing guitar for nearly a decade now, though that seems like something Jow Forums would be into normally even if I don't see many people talk about it.

I play Magic the Gathering and D&D. DMed a lot back in college. I play a decent amount of video games. The game I play most often recently is Rocket League, with right about 1000 hours invested. I have a love for game design so I spend a lot of time learning about that.

I occasionally play disc golf as well. Fun game that's super easy to introduce other people to.

I've been dipping my toes into the world of literature, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

I drive.

Baking/cooking. Only sometimes; mostly for other people (I don't count my easy meal prep)
Woodworking stuff, building furniture, and starting to learn on woodcarving/whittling
Archery, but need a new bow
Playing some piano
Taking some photos
Hiking. So I can try to be in nature for a while and forget. Forget that no matter what I do it just feels like going through the motions, that everything I used to enjoy and bring me joy has become meaningless, that I am obsessively worried about being left behind yet aren't working on anything to look forward to, and that I might have unironically jumped off that cliff if it weren't for coming to this place which are both seemingly sad thoughts.

Same here:

>Get back from work
>Run to the gym
>Go back home
>Play vidya and browse the internet, mainly Jow Forums
>Do this until bedtime
>Rinse and repeat, except I might spend time with my family on the weekend

I pretty much have no friends, but it's kind of on pupose. I still see my childhood bestfriend, but that's it. I tend to push away any potential new friends on purpose and I don't know why.

Also, who's the cutest Fire Emblem and why is it Kamui, Jow Forums?

im not a motorcycle guy but that is one sweet ride

Not that user, but aquaponics is a form of gardening where you pump water from a fish tank to naturally provide nutrients to the plant. It's a minor symbiotic relationship.

it's okay user, you live and you die, don't give up though

How does Jow Forums deal with living somewhere boring?

>tfw there's practically nothing to do but play vidya, workout, watch anime, window shop online and stay home in my state
>Don't drink or party and even if I did, we have too many nanny state laws here
>EVERYTHING is severly overpriced to the point where I rarely spend money or leave the house because of it
>Do most of my shopping online because of this and because in a mall right now, I don't really like going there "just because"
>Music scene is literately dying in my country (and practically already dead in my state) so I can't see shows or start a band like I wanted to
>Car culture is non-exsistent because of nanny state laws and I have to wait 8 months to even get my license because of these laws
>Aside from one month, my state is boring and has nothing going on in it
>Any landmarks are literal memes (two silver balls in our captial city) or things everyone would have seen by the time they're an adult
>No friends because they all moved interstate, faraway or on with their professional/academic lives
>Still recovering from letting myself go, so I can't date

Attached: the goose 6.jpg (638x714, 136K)

It’s not helpful advice but you got to make your own fun. Try getting into hiking or something

I didn’t realize how boring my area was until I started dating someone who went to school in the city. I went to college in the suburbs/country and really regret not paying a to go to a city school despite me getting full ride scholarships

I just wish the weather wasn't so shit right now (winter) or unbearable in the summer. I live in the hottest state in my country, making outdoor activities very unbearable some times.

>City
I really wish mine had more to do in it. It's comfy, but not exciting.

>Crypto
>Reading fiction classics and mystery novels
>Learning about history (mainly political, war, economic, scientific and religious)
>Warhammer
>painting
>musical theatre
What ones are or aren’t Jow Forums typical?

What are some interesting hobbies to take up that have value? I can only think of drawing, starting a YouTube channel and learning a language.

Is it possible to do this with a salt water tank?

I have a fresh water tank but I’m giving it to family, when I get my own property I really want a salt water tank with clown fish and coral. Is the salt required for salt water tanks too much for aquaponics? If so is there a simply way to filter the salt our automatically?

Can we see some of your work?

I'm a distance runner.
Racing 10 and 15k's are my favorite.

I love baking, I did everything, bread, rolls, cakes, pizza...
and then my oven broke and somehow I've never replaced it.

M8 if you could figure out the way to filter salt from water you'd be a hero, genius, and save much of the world.

If you're considering salt water aquaponics you could find a way to grow healthy seaweed and algae for your fish to eat and perhaps create a self sustaining tank
