What does Jow Forums think about Battle of the Nations

What do you all think about this "sport"? good excersize? or just really dangerous.

how do you keep score?

How does it work? How much are you allowed to hurt people? I loved playing Chivalry.

I'm consistently in awe that no one has died doing this ridiculous shit. If you want something with somewhat more martial value and less chance of concussions you could try HEMA. Though it's populated in large part by fat autists who are a few steps above larpers.
If I recall score is based on knocking your opponent(s) to the ground. So why they don't focus on takedowns and throws is beyond me. Beating on each other with weapons that aren't meant to kill/injure armoured opponents is only slightly less retarded that using proper "anti-armour" weapons like polearms in a context where your not actually actively trying to kill someone.

>How does it work?
you hit other people with sharp sticks
>How much are you allowed to hurt people?
a lot

HEMA is full of larper fatbois
BoN is full is slavs with brain damage

Bohourd's are literally exactly as they should be. Loose as fuck rules and grugs smashing each other.
William Marshal would be proud.
>shame GOAT 13th Century High Middle Ages armour would result in lmaoparaplegic

A very expensive way to become a cripple. You might as well just play rugby.

from what I've heard, you have to hit someone 3 times before they can be taken down. That rule was implemented after they all got btfo by american football players.

A dude at my regiment does this.
Shit looks fucking lit.

rugby isn't nearly as fun as this.

From what I've seen the polearms are super useful in the hands of big fucking dudes. You put them behind a guy with a shield who will tank some shots while the polearm whacks some shit from the rear and stops anyone from sneaking around the shield. Then they bearhug a cunt and hold them in with the haft of the polearm while their buds whale away on the guy he's holding.
I saw a vid with a gigantic French motherfucker pinning TWO Polacks against him with his polearm. He had a fried just standing there whacking the shit out of the Polacks, and when the giant eventually couldn't hold them any longer the two Polacks just collapsed to the ground as soon as he let them go.

My friend joined a similar organisation when i showed him this. The armor is expensive as fuck. And he quit after two years when he somehow got stabbed in the eye during one of the fights. he somehow managed to save the eye, it only pierced the white or something. But he wouldnt keep fighting since he didnt want to risk it happening again

FUCKING METAL

From what I know stabbing is an illegal move because of this. They only whack each other in the contests

lmao just fucking wear some safety glasses it's not that hard jesus what a dummy

>That rule was implemented after they all got btfo by american football players.
Classic Ruskies getting assblasted and worked into changing the rules
>ye oldde kek

I really want to join but holy fuck it's so expensive. How do I into making my own armor?

>you will never watch Battle of the Nations with your Bernd brothers ever again

>How do I into making my own armor?
Don't bother. Just save for two years, get second-hand harnesses, and modify them until you can afford your own custom.

Watch the first seasson of Forged in Iron, there's a pinoy dude who cooks swords in his back yard with a hair-blower.
Stream your forging in case of epic wild-fires.

I did it for a few months while living on some hippy dippy organic farm in England. When I was put up against other new guys I absolutely thrashed them but fighting the more experienced guys was an exercise in extreme pain tolerance. Shits fun as hell but when you catch a fucking poleaxe to the head at full force, it is a hefty reminder that you’re not as badass as you think. Took all I had just to stay on my feet after one of those fuckers chopped me in the skull.

Pic related is me after a fight. It’s super hard to breathe in those helmets and the armor weighs about 60-70 pounds total. Would not recommend unless you have cardiovascular fitness.

Forgot pic because I am a dumbass

Jesus h christ, I hope that's loaner gear m80

Yeah, it was. I was just a farmhand and the owners son had a team that practiced on the weekends. One dude was built like me and let me fight because he was pretty badly injured from a tournament in France.

>Forged in Fire
patrician taste

>injured from a tournament in France.
Sounds awesome. Do you bros drink mead after your battles as well?

From what I’ve seen, a polearm is not useless in Bohurt. Like I posted earlier, if you take one to the head, it’s gonna ring your bell. Hell, I knocked one dude out cold with a strong pommel strike to the head while using a basic little sword. Getting people to the ground through pain compliance/ knocking them out is just as effective. Even with armor on, it does not feel good to catch a solid piece of metal flying at your body.

We would spend the weekend nights boozing and smoking a fuckload of weed. A lot of the guys would go full LARP and play medieval instruments and drink from horns and shit as well. It really was a good time. A lot of the dudes that do this are ex/current military as well, so we all traded stories from deployments and shit. Some of the Best 6 months of my life.

Sounds nice. Shame we don't have it in Australia.

Cringe

is the armor historically acurate?
if so, what time period is it based on?

>is the armor historically acurate?
That set, no. It's a disgusting SCA tier.

I’d have thought you would man, I was at the tournament in Scotland recently and the Australian team kicked ass.

>I was at the tournament in Scotland recently and the Australian team kicked ass.
I think they travel to train.

If you want to do something dangerous and difficult you can just go for a walk
