I don't like running

Why

I'm a cardiolet and my feet hurt

Enjoy gasping for air and having sore feet

>tfw new running rival on your route

sounds like a flight of stairs for you

Do intervals that cause you to sprint up to within an inch of his back, then fall back to a walk, and repeat.

After a couple days of that you won't see him there again.

Everyone is at the beginning. Couldn't even make it 30 seconds down my street the first time. After being consistent and wanting to improve myself I could do 3 minutes, 5 minutes, a mile, 5k, 10k, then 13 miles.

I got so tired of being tired I had to make a change in my life. Running definitely helps clear the mental cobwebs. Start slow and you will get there in no time. Form before everything. Land with your foot beneath your knee/body, don't overstride, pull your leg back with your hamstring to feel like falling forwarding instead of wasting energy trying to propel yourself forward.

I like that quote, but really, if just you just add 100m to your distance every day, you'll get up to 5 miles without ever feeling like you're going to die.

Maybe I could have done it differently but within a month I was able to get up to 13 miles. It was definitely not easy but I was determined to make a change in my life.

Even still after years of running it's not as easy. I have to tell my brain to stop trying to tell me I'm too tired every single time. When I pass that point I go into cruise control mentally and physically. All the BS that was going on before is out the window when on a run.

Cliche but if I can do it anybody can do it. Get out there and run bros.

I decided to go for an extra half mile on my route yesterday and ended up getting stuck on the other side of a canal system for a couple miles. Ended up running about 8 miles, twice as far as I normally run. My ankles started to get a little sore, but other than than, I felt fine, like I could go for another 5 miles.

How do you guys pace yourselves for long runs? If I do anything other than my natural jog on a 4+ mile run I would run out of energy pretty quickly.

How do you run in heat without dehydrating? After 10 minutes I need water

camel back

Lmao I actually got attacked by a bird twice while running today. At first I thought I just had run into a tree branch or something when I felt a scratch on my head. I passed by the same tree on the way back and suddenly got scratched again and saw a bird flying over me looking pissed off and tweeting.

Either the bird wanted my hair for its nest or it just hates lanklets getting too close to its airspace. I thought I was safe from birds now that the geese are gone, but I was mistaken. Still I prefer a little bird attack over a pack of geese hissing at me and chasing me every time I go by.

No you don't, not after 10 minutes. I run in south Florida and I can run about an hour without water. Since I'm in the city I will usually run into a starbucks and get a cup of water if I feel like it.

I was running at night then stumbled over a rock. i turned around it was a fucking raccoon. Those things are vicious. Since then I don't run at night.

this would make me so nervous lel

from 0 to13 mile runs in a month? this is Jow Forums and all, but you dont gotta lie to kick it.

post fit runner body or gtfo faggot.

I now have all the Strava records on my morning route. I guess I can die in peace.

It's true man. I'm not fast by any means with an average of 9 minute pace. When I did the 13 miles from the 9th mile on was fucking hell. I had to finish since I got that far but the days after I was so sore.

I was really consistent my first year running. Now I'm very inconsistent since I haven't ran since last fall. Today couldn't do 10 minutes but I know I can get back up there in no time.

Hey guys I just wanted to stop by and let you know that these things exist. You can actually go online/to a local shop and exchange money for one.

They're called 'bicycles'. Your knees and ankles will thank me later.

>a new part of my body hurts every time I go running

whats going on here bros?

You've not done any exercise for years. You need to do stretches and take like 2-3 weeks off to recover.

If you hurt your ankles, you will naturally start running in a way that will cause less pain for your ankles but will fuck your knees, etc etc.

Unless you're talking about muscle pain and not joints/tendons, if that's true then just carry on.

Check your form mate. Land on the midfoot with your for beneath the knee. Use your hamstring to pull your leg back to get a smoother motion instead of pulling your quad to move. You want to feel like you are falling forward not jumping forward. Keep your feet close to the ground and don't waste energy raising you foot too high. I notice it when my feet are making too much noise.

*hic* Im gonna r-RUN away! *hic*

I have exactly 2 months to get my 1.5 mile run time from 15:00 to 12:00. Here's my general plan:

Mon/Wed/Fri: 2-3 mile runs at lower speed, followed by 20 minute HIIT sessions on stationary bike
Tues/Thurs/Sat: early morning bodyweight stuff (mountain climbers, squats, chair step ups, etc), followed by 1-2 miles really pushing myself for speed

Thoughts?

Apparently keto and running don't mix...

>10 minute mile to 9 minute mile in 2 months
Should be easy no matter what routine you do. How fat are you? I wouldn't push too much if you're overweight.

No shit, you dumb cunt. You've starved yourself humans preferred fuel source.

Keto = meme diet for old people and fatties

You need fuel to run. Carb up.

I'd add in one "long" run maybe 5 or 6 miles at a very easy pace for aerobic development

I am fucking fat dude. I gained 20 lbs in the past year. I'm not "obese" BMI but I'm pretty close. Still, I am listening to my body and I don't have a history of running injuries. Though if I get one, I won't need to do the run anyway probably, so mission accomplished either way :)

Good idea.

Buy a bike.

What are cheapest decent running shoes I can order online? I've been running in casual flat shoes that are the only shoes I own.

>Form before everything. Land with your foot beneath your knee/body, don't overstride, pull your leg back with your hamstring to feel like falling forwarding instead of wasting energy trying to propel yourself forward.
What if I don't care about wasting energy and I just use this as a way of burning more calories? I'm too much of a brainlet to learn to land properly, all I'd really want is to run pain-free.

Nike Flex RN 2017. I have the 2016 one. I don't think the 2017 one would be much different. Pretty good all around shoe.
Light
Comfy
Flexible

damn, that's still kinda expensive for me right now.

Can you find these in stores? I hate buying shoes online because I never know exactly what size I'll be with that particular shoe.

I think they have them at Dick's Sporting Goods. 70 bucks ain't bad for an all around shoe. I have other running shoes but the Nikes are pretty good. Not sure about other models.

remember to not increase your weekly mileage by more than 10% (5-8% would be ideal) to avoid injury

Can I trust manual distance measurements done by me on google maps? It's the only thing I have access to.

Maybe the best advice I've ever seen on fit.

Any of you run but also smoke sometime? I'm not a heavy smoker myself but I definitely smoke every few days, sometimes more when I go out.
I'm pretty good weight-wise so my biggest concern about running is my lungs

Just ordered these bad boys, what am I in for?

If it can help other people that makes me happy. I was down for so long and still going through things. Running has helped me so much. Afraid to try new things. Now I'm to a point I can't go back to letting myself down. Time I can't get back, make the most now.

Yes

Run some miles every Saturday.
But today my left foot has nerve pain on top for some fucking reason and I better play it safe and wait until next weekend.

Fuck

Run at a pace where you can hold a conversation. Also once you start getting into longer runs that are 1+ hrs you should start incorporating eating/drinking into your running.

>>fit runner body
>>The realization that all runners who aren't in the sub 7 range are kinda fat.

First Olympic distance triathlon tomorrow, wish me luck on the /run/

says the neckbeard.pic

Bad shoes and shoes too tight.

vicious? unless it has rabies just point it in the direction of the nearest trash bin

Good luck man that is crazy

yes, i used to do that but now i go out for my runs with my cellphone since i tend to go off track on my long runs
but if you have good discipline it's a good way to measure distance

i used to bike 23 miles around 4 day a week and it didnt helped me shit when i started running, bikefags are delusional if they think sitting your ass on top of two wheels with a shitload of gears and mechanisms that make it easy on your legs will do as much good as actually running some miles on an actual running pace.

IDK man have you heard about Zach Bitter? He broke the 100 Mile record doing low carbs but then again everybody is different.

I've been using some cheap ass Asics Gel Impression 8 for almost 5 years now since high school. Initially they were casual/soccer shoes that i'd use almost everywhere and then became my default running shoes since i started running 6 months ago. Good shoes, very cheap.
That said, training with some flat ones isn't all that bad if it's all you got, Rocky did used some Converse in his Philly morning jogs.

I do, but my "sometimes" is something like 2-3 times per month at most. I usually run on the next day and have never felt any problems that i suspect comes from all those Luckies. The only good advice i know is to not run, or engage in any exercise at all, in the immediate hours after smoking; apparently it increases the intake of toxins or something.

I try to maintain my average pace wich is more of a jog too, but since i do all my runs on town and it's a very hilly town i usually try to take advantage of down hills to increase speed and then maintain it for some seconds on more level ground. That is the only instance i increase my pace significantly on a long run.
