Okay okay. Here's where I ask. Is any of this anime "good anime"? Because I've seen a few episodes of all of these series at some point, and it all seems like childish garbage in Japanese and English alike. However, when I inquire weaboos about this, they insist that all the anime that's ever talked about on Jow Forums is "Shonen garbage", but never actually get to the well written, mature anime that's genuinely entertaining.
I see this argument a lot too. Just to clear things up, it isn't the goofy art style that's so off putting. Even popular cartoons like Southpark get past their terrible animation style. It's the plotline, the chracters, and the dialogue of prototypical anime. The chracters are Flanderized even by western animation standards, the dialogue subbed/dubbed alike is awkward to say the very least, and the plotlines are confusing and childish. Even random and meaningless experimental anime stories make more sense than conventional plotlines that appeal to the American audience.
But feel free to retort. Where is all the quality Japanese animation? I'm curious.
