I just got a root canal 3 hours ago

i just got a root canal 3 hours ago.
for the love of god please brush your fucking teeth, i do not wish this pain upon anyone (except normies)..
the pain is 10000x worse than anything on this planet, (they injected a small amount of acid into the tooth to dissolve the nerves at that instant it felt like i was shot in the face with rock salt).

My root canal wasn't that bad, the toothache is 100x worse than fixing the tooth

doesn`t matter how depressed i get, i always brush and floss at night

>except normies
ah fuck

>3rd world dental care
didn't they numb your mouth first?

This. What country are you living in? I've had one and it was like nothing.

>Haven't brushed my teeth regularly since the third grade
>Brush right before dentist appointments
>"Alright user, your teeth look good. Keep taking care of them!"

Yeah. They numb you up and go to town. You aren't supposed to feel a root canal more than you're supposed to feel pain when you cut your hair or nails.

wow look everybody - a 4th grader on Jow Forums

Shhh don't tell the mods.

it was a proper dentist, i paid $350.
they used the numbing injection, it didn't help at all, i honestly think they might not have used enough, because it usually doesn't wear off this quickly.

>(except normies)

was it a lower molar?

lateral incisor

>that feel when didn't brush for a year when life was at its worst but still hasn't had to do any root canals or anything else

Thank you Father for your dental genes.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "brushing your own teeth at home" and 10 being "wisdom teeth extraction," where does "filling" fall? Because I've got a couple cavities I caught before they could hit the pulp, and I'm seeing a dentist about them next Friday.

((Do you recommend laughing gas? I've honestly never had it, and I read up it's super cheap.))

fillings arent that bad. i had three done when i was little. they just numb your mouth but its a tiny shot. you dont feel much.

I don't drink soda, don't eat much sugary food, brush my teeth twice a day, mouthwash, floss and I still get cavities

I paid around 1k (no insurance), though it was a specialist, a molar, and they numbed me up good

What mouthwash are you using? The Listerine stuff is by far the best.

I do use listerine

If it makes you feel any better, 95% of people will get at least one cavity in their life. You'd be the genetic freak if you didn't get one!

Do someone get a root canal if i have pressure pain just while eating and not permanent
and temperature-sensitivity?
the dentist refilled the old fill already but it didnt help.

they inject lidocain into your gums and grind away the enamel with a grinder, then put that glue shit in to "fill it"

you're numb for an hour at most after the procedure and only slight jaw discomfort for the rest of the day then its over

you're probably sensitive from the nerve getting irritated from all the work
it will settle down in a few weeks

>had 5 root canals
>more to come

Please don't use god's name in vain user

Pain killers dont work for root canals. Something to do with the exposed nerve ending.

>wisdom teeth extraction
Depends on whether it has grown out fine or is it so fucked that you need literal surgery.
I've had two removed so far and it was quick painless.
>go to dentist
>checks my wisdom tooth
>"all right I'm gonna give you a local anesthesia"
>just a little shot near the tooth
>"now lets just wait a minute"
>takes some tools
>in less than 20 seconds she had it removed
>did not feel a thing
>gives me a clumped up gauze
>tells me to put it on the wound that was left and bite it down for next two hours and not to eat anything for six hours so that blood clot forms and closes the wound
>"take a painkiller if needed"
>go back home
That side of mouth was bit achy for two days and that is about it.

So you already had pulpitis or something?

I've heard that numbing shots don't work on abscesses either. Whenever there's some kind of infection involving pus.

Same goes for ingrown toenails.

But it was 2 months ago

Fillings are EZ. The only reason I felt anything during it is because I had a couple of extractions in the past, so being somewhat acclimated to the local, I needed a block.

And go for composite filling, not amalgam.

How are amalgam fillings not banned in your country?

I have no fucking idea. They're inferior in every way.

OP here.
i had 3 wisdom teeth out in one day and several fillings.
the filling is 100x more painful because they have to grind your teeth (somehow literally crushing the teeth with pliers and picking the pieces out is less painful than grinding them).
but the pain only lasts during the procedure as opposed to waiting several days or a week for the wisdom teeth holes to heal.

wisdom teeth extraction is a 3
fillings are on par with breaking my leg (about 5)
root canal is 11

>wisdom teeth extraction
>all four have to go
>upper left gone in 20 seconds
>the bottom ones take a while, unpleasant as fuck but not really painful, beyond the jaw hurting from keeping it open so long
>then the upper right gets pulled out
>there's an entire fucking canal straight to the sinus
>spend two hours on the chair while the doc is stitching up the bleeding, gaping hole
>can't eat or talk for a week, spend the whole time on painkillers, drinking juice through a straw
Fuck wisdom teeth.

disgusting. how do people deal with your smell

Stop eating carbs and drinking acidic drinks.

Yeah I had root canal on my front teeth as a kid due to an accident I had. It's fucked up, very interesting in theory but it's an incredibly boring procedure

GUTA PERCHA

how tf is this not original, these words have never been uttered on Jow Forums you stupid robot

This was the same for me. I was born with only 3 and every single one went like this. In the seat, a quick needle sting, a minute later they wacked it with a rod and then a pair of pliers tore it out with no resistance. Gauze on the gum until the bleeding stops, no dizziness and no pain. Didn't have any swelling, aching or anything whatsoever, even after the painkiller wore off.

I had a partially erupted lower wisdom tooth that rotted to the point the exposed part had crumbled apart. Was knocked out when they cut/ pulled the remaining part out of my face. That was a 0/10 pain-wise.

Clove oil. $6 at Walmart. Numbs oral pain pretty well. But it also kind of burns, but burning gums is way better than tooth pain.

Oh get over it. I did 3 root canals today and my patients were all fine.
t. dentist

No, they have increased mechanical properties and can set in areas of moisture where the white coloured fillings are weaker and cannot set in wet areas.
