I refuse to believe people actually read books anymore.
I see people in book shops flipping through the pages and they might even buy a book but I've never in my life had a conversation with anyone about a book I read or they read. Everyone would rather watch tv or play video games.
I stopped reading books two years ago because I noticed they fuck up my eyesight more than computer does. I like some book every once in a while, but recently nothing interests me, really. Maybe some manga.
Elijah Thompson
I took up reading again recently. Its a much better activity than watching twitch streams, playing video games or browsing Jow Forums. Reading is actually a topic you can talk to normies about, for one thing.
Noah White
I don't normally read but I started this book a week ago. I'm about halfway through it now. it's pretty fucking great.
it's still an elite-only thing it's really common to have cock size contests of who knows the most about the world in tight knit circles of people in positions of prestige/power
Benjamin Perez
I'm reading that book atm. He makes a few points here and there but salts the whole thing with heavy doses of moral panic.
Leo Lee
Okay. At the risk of flooding that poor board with even more incels, I will give you the benefit of the doubt: Have you been to /lit/?
Robert Scott
Try talking to people that aren't brainlets.
Juan Rodriguez
Other than the ones I really like and the study/technical books, I get really bored with other books. Normalfags, or maybe even the robots will try using books to look cool. Tho this is not 2002 anymore, you can't get attention by reading stuff like solaris or finger chopper faggot.
Jack Russell
Really ? I thought it was a common thing
Hudson Kelly
I think this is a serious problem nowadays, I want to return myself to a dimension where I actually read as much as I did as a kid. The books, ofc, were much simpler and "stupid" at the times. I think literature, both the one of important authors of the past and of today is something to be treasured. As a way to improve your mind and your soul. I'm currently reading "L'anima innamorata" by Alda Merini on the advice of the professor whom examined me on the final hs exam.
>i own about 500 books Port your library then? Also, you're an college prof. or you just read them?
I don't take mediums that has stupid ideas, the ideas that can't be proven otherwise.
Sebastian Gonzalez
>I don't take mediums that has stupid ideas, the ideas that can't be proven otherwise. so you don't read fiction? just say what you're trying to say in plain god damn english, Reading Guru.
Jaxson Lewis
i literally spent my entire day last saturday reading in the library for 3 hours. I am picking up another book today to start on.
William Lopez
why would you own books you are not gonna read? what the fuck is your problem?
Easton Johnson
A campus or a random library? I'm pretty sure I'd look like a creep going to a random library for hours
Austin Lopez
>so you don't read fiction? That's correct, I don't read them. I write them.
>plain english That's not what I "learned" from college, meanie.
Camden Lewis
I read a lot of books (aprox 1000) and continue reading
Julian Phillips
Have you been to /lit/? Talking about books died when you became mocked for reading for fun and must only read "the classics"
Nicholas Price
I have recently read A World Undone, Goldsworthys Caesar, and am currently reading and almost finished Goldworthys Augustus. I also read Caesars Gallic and Civil War Commentaries as well as the Forever War and Starship Troopers.
did i ask if you write it???? fuck i want to kill you.
Dylan Morris
>fuck i want to kill you. Choke me even harder, nigger.
Charles Parker
Why do you download TBs of porn you're never going to watch
Ayden Brown
>Why do you download TBs of porn you're never going to watch Nice argument right there faggot. I can always delete my 2tb worth of hd cp, legal loli, security cam footage rape vids if I want.
Jaxson Bailey
i'll delete the snuff pornos i filmed with your mothers as well. i also have books of personal art i drew of your mother's asshole, a nice addition to the paperback collection.
digital and paper can work together.
Nathaniel Murphy
He's a pretentious little faggot isn't he? Such a meme. Ignore him so he goes away
Leo Ross
I do every day. I did research for a lab and found a bunch of books about my subject that were meant for the "general public". I read them, farm the bibliographies, and I look like a genius when people say "whoa! Look at how he understands the current trends in our research field!" Secondly I read nonfic about foreign country's contemporary history so when I meet a foreigner I know all about their culture. People from places like India are astounded when you know things like Indian history and know the difference between their ethnic Indian groups. The trick is audiobooks listened at 1.25x speed for shit you don't need, and buy/pirate written books when it relates to your job or you need to reference it a lot. RSS feed programs are also good for skimming all the news. It lets you read all the article headlines and a paragraph summary of them so you look cultured but only spent 20 minutes reading basically a spreadsheet of all the news you "subscribe" to.
Colton Green
Fuckin edgy. Almost sharper and edgier than my unopened collection of Lotr special edition's paper.
Daniel Adams
As far as I can tell, many people don't know how to read properly for information or enjoyment. I'm currently reading pic related because I realised that I'm shit at reading. Last year I tried reading some classics but couldn't wrap my head around them.
One thing that has surprised me about reading is the people I expected to do it don't and the people I didn't expect to do it do.
>I expected to do it don't and the people I didn't expect to do it do. So you judge people like really shallowly? Have some shame, the ones that read books in metro or public transportation is mostly kids and minimum wage workers. Mothers in her 40s don't read a shit, much like the college students, which are our future and sheeet.
Josiah Brooks
>I've never in my life had a conversation with anyone about a book I read or they read. Everyone would rather watch tv or play video games.
It's just that you and everyone you know are idiots, but you're too much of an idiot to understand this, so you project your idiotic worldview and limited life experience onto others, and when they don't conform to your experience you assume they're faking it. Because you're an idiot.
John Rivera
>So you judge people like really shallowly? yeah I guess so.
It was all I had when I lived in a halfway house with no internet. I have read a couple books on my phone at work when there's nothing else happening.
I think it's mostly enviroment and what you have access to in the moment. But I'd say everyone should read more.
Joshua Turner
i started reading because i feel like it slows down the rotting of my brain caused by social isolation.
John Phillips
>not reading a book about hijacking isp fiber lines so you can use the isp's default username and password on isp account section after connection to fiber lines with a makeshift fiber router that runs gentoo Git gud, noob.
Robert Diaz
The ABSOLUTE state of zoomers.
But in a way, this is a good thing. We are reverting to the age of the educated elite and the unread pleb masses.
You just gotta find what subject you like and read about that! Choosing random books is how you end up not reading. What subjects do you like? What are you interested in?
>i actually think for my information i too am psychic. i am Xavier, teacher at the school for gifted youngsters.
Angel Peterson
>>I'm a retarded plebeian and only associate with retarded plebeians so obviously everyone on this planet must be like me /Thread
Adam Smith
books don't fuck up your eyesight, if anything they help with it. If your eyesight has been getting worse it's cause by genes or something else you might've been doing.
Easton Ortiz
recommend me a good book
Nathaniel Long
Art of the deal is the bestest book number 1 best seller for many years
Luis Gomez
>popular=good wew lad star with the greeks Oedipus Rex Illiad and Odysey
I mean, more people read than you probably think. Maybe it's just the friends I keep, but most of the people I know read on a fairly consistent basis. Not a ton, but two or three books a month. I personally read 3~4 books a week comfortably, more when I'm not working.
It's most likely a demographic thing. Poor people have less free time and spend more time working, and are more susceptible to lower-investment, addictive entertainment (e.g., Facebook, Netflix). Children don't have the attention span for long books and so watch 8 minute YouTube videos instead.
Oh, and /lit/ exists.
Luke Cook
I've read 12 books so far this year.
Jaxon Gomez
i read book, but i havent bought one in 7 years, money problems
Landon Moore
I can really relate to that. I hate life too.
Bentley Cruz
