Fun fact: deleting a file doesn't actually remove the data, just un-lists it from the filesystem so that it's flagged as free space and eventually gets overwritten. Until that happens, however, someone can use an undelete program like Recuva to at least see the filename, if not recover the entire file. A secure erase program like Eraser can overwrite the sectors used to store the files with junk data.

Use 7zip to compress it (make sure it's in one folder first), use cmd to merge file with random image, and it makes a copy with the zip behind the image. Just click image with 7zip to extract it. Low chance your family will find it that way. That's how I hide my rin collection desu.

bitlocker is built-in windows encryption, can be used for flash drives, portable hard drives, even your entire system. alternatively use veracrypt or some other kind of FOSS system if you're that paranoid. if you're just concerned about your parents bitlocker is pobably fine.

Get something like VeraCrypt.
Then encrypt either a flash drive or make a seperate hidden partition from your hard drive.
Takes like a minute to re access your stash, only seconds to dismount the partition.
