When I was a NEET I decided to try and establish myself in NEET circles (mumble servers, Skype groups, tons of IRCs) and it was honestly the best thing I've ever done.

After getting to know these people, making friends with them, confiding in them and being confided to I was able to understand that it was an unfulfilling life that would end in either suicide or homelessness.

The vast majority of them would be on the streets within weeks of their parents passing/social security collapsing. They would probably be dead not soon after. Some of them are still my friends and it's hard not to send them money or buy them stuff, but if I were to do that I would be hurting them in the same way as everyone else in their lives is. Having them turn against me not when i got a job, but when i wouldn't buy them things Is another big reason why I only remain friends with a couple of them.

I used to hate NEETs and had a good time bashing them, but i just have too much insight to ignore that they're not just smarmy pricks with infinite neet-bux. They're damaged individuals who have to figure out how to make it by on an income of less than 500$ a month.
