I was an easy target for my bullies (one of them used to be a friend of mine that didn't had any other friends at school before me). The hard part was not the bullying, but the lack of support of the others. Left me out and avoid talking to me to not get an target, too.
When the assholes quit school earlier they slowly started talking to me again, which made me actual hate them. Years of self doubt what is wrong with me, every attempt to change my situation, every sleepless night, every lonely weekend could have been avoided if I know they were to afraid to talk to me because of my bullies.
