What can I use as a substitute for rope in a partial suspension hanging?
I have cord for my old mouse. Will that work or will it break even in partial suspension? It's very important that I don't fuck this up, because I absolutely have to terminate my existence tonight.
Try a belt, I wouldn't use a mouse wire, I imagine it's quite thin and you don't want it to snap. Could probably use your bedsheets as well, I think that's what prisoners do but that's just going off tv.
I do have a belt, but I don't know how to secure it to my closet rod. My closet doesn't have a door, unfortunately, so I can't pull a Robin Williams.
basically anything with enough thickness and durability like belts, there are people who ctb on shoelaces and bedsheets too tho so I guess it depends on how you do it rather than the materials at hand and the carotid doesn't require a lot of force to lose consciousness, just consistency
if you want to do the deed properly you should just buy a ratchet strap and go out that way, zero chance of failure
My technical side will answer you by saying your old mouse cord shouldn't work as it's pretty hard to knot that, and I'm sure it's not long enough to properly tie it. Are you sure there is no available longer cords/rope at your place? You can braid several shoe ties as an alternative. For a more efficient and painless suicide, look into carbon monoxyde (car, garage) suicide or Japan detergent gas suicide. If you do the Japan one, just please do it in your car with a label in the window as the fumes are obviously lethally toxic ; you could uselessly harm people in your house/apartment if done at home.
My more human side though will tell you to not kill yourself, think about it further through and try to say goodbye face to face to your family and friends beforehand ; you'll realize the good value of life. If you can't, then hopefully it'll make you realize how hard it will be for your family and friends to accept your death without even talking to you first.

I do have shoelaces, so I think I'll try to do it with the cord first and if that doesn't work, I'll try out the shoelaces. My only concern is that I won't be alone tonight and I don't want to wake people up with noise and have them catch me in the act. That would be very awkward.
Wait, I do have a longer cord for my fan. I think I'll have to break the fan to test it, but I'm trying to die anyway, so who cares I guess?

There aren't any tall buildings where I live. The highest I could jump from would probably only be enough to break a bunch of bones.

Make a tight knot and then another knot over it, works for the most part.
Whats passing out from it supposed to feel like? dizzy, grainy/blurry vision, tingling?
If you properly compress the carotids, it's supposed to feel dizzy and faint and you pass out VERY quickly. Some people also say it's euphoric, but I've never done it so I don't know.
However, if you only manage to compress your jugular, it'll feel like your head's gonna explode and it will be extremely uncomfortable.

Get therapy. See a psychiatrist. They help. If you are in US and poor you can get medicaid that will pay for 100% of it.
I have attempted suicide before and was caught and taken to the emergency room. They released me after a few days, after that I started to get therapy and take medications, it helped a ton. Don't give up yet.
Lightheadedness with a feeling of dizziness and loss of vision. It builds up and then you pass out. Hearing can become difficult as well, since most noise will get drowned out as not enough oxygen gets to your brain.

Yeah, that's the idea. Doesn't always work out, but it usually does.

I think most partial suspension hangings happen out of necessity rather than previous knowledge. It's extremely difficult to find a place in the average household that can support a person's entire body weight.

Sometimes the ligature breaks or the body thrashes around so much the knot comes loose. Obviously those are preventable problems, but they're probably the most common reasons for the method failing, along with being discovered prematurely.
Why not get diagnosed as certified crazy, so you can get on SSI gravy train and not worry about life anymore?
something people don't tend to think about is how rough the material will be. For a full hanging or a hanging that is supposed to dislocate the spine, it's a non-issue. But for a partial suspension you'll want something that feels soft against your neck. You'd be surprised how bad it sucks choking yourself out with your neck being rubbed raw and bleeding. Makes it much more likely to not go through with it. Hope you feel better OP
My family has too much faith in me. They'll try to convince me to stay in school. Plus, I've fucked up my personal hygiene and I don't want to have to deal with the repercussions of rotted teeth and such.
