X is shown to give you cancer

>X is shown to give you cancer
>X is not immediately banned worldwide

>life is about not dying for as long as possible

If we banned everything immediately based upon the findings of one or few studies there would be nothing left. A study has to be peer reviewed and the findings must be consistent.

so humanity as a species is just gonna give up on beating cancer?

This is the non-critical thinking man's answer to the problems of the world. JUST BAN THEM. Gee, why didn't I think of that?

What's the alternative? The point is you're either actively letting people give themselves cancer, or you're letting shit research with shit proof for their findings be published.

Cancer is not a disease like pneumonia or diabetes. It's a natural occurrence that happens many times in your life. You'll never be able to best it.

So what's this really about? Do you want to play authoritarian dictator or are you advocating for more scrutiny in scientific papers on nutrition?

isn't that medicine's whole purpose

>getting rid of cancer causes is a dictatorship

>all meats
BANNED
>all refined sugar products
BANNED
>refined flour products
BANNED
>produce treated with pesticides
BANNED
>farmed fish
BANNED
>cooking oils
BANNED

how is banning all this shit not a dictatorship? bro, is this really the road you wanna go down? where there's nothing left to eat but limp cabbage leaves and some kinda gruel? hey, at least we don't have cancer causing foods.
>still gets cancer from other causes

Ban fossil fuels and plastic, then

If all cancer causing substances were banned OP wouldn't be able to post more threads on Jow Forums

You will be forced to live in the veganverse, because surely no plant couldn't cause cancer.

This. Literally everything that interacts with your cells in any way will ultimately raise the chance for cancer

Do you know how common it is to find an undiagnosed tumor during an autopsy? We find them in mummies from ancient Egypt for fucks sake, there's always going to be cancer, the fucking suns rays cause it.

There's nothing 100% guaranteed to give you cancer.

To be classified as a carcinogen there has to be a clear correlation between increased intake of a substance and an increased risk of cancer. This is really hard to do though, and the amount of work it takes to get a large enough sample to clearly say that it is that substance alone that increased the risk of cancer is daunting.

Aside from the obvious problem that a single study often doesn't mean shit. People should be able to choose to eat what they want. Slap a label on it, don't ban it.

>some 'scientist' (or not) publishes results of some 'study' claming something 180 degrees out from what everyone else believes
>OP expects 'X' to be banned based on one ill-conceived 'study'
Not how the scientific method works, OP.

that might be true but it doesn't disagree with what user said. the bottom line is that cancer is caused by a mutation during cell reproduction. anything that causes more cells to reproduce for literally any reason will increase the probability for mutation because there are more chances for it to happen. and the number of substances that directly or indirectly cause more cells to reproduce is astronomical
