Computer Programming is the Only Thing I Like

It must be autism. No matter where I am or what I'm doing I can only ever think about programming.

The couple of times I've been in a sexual situation I couldn't stay hard because I was getting distracted thinking of programming

i used to think about eulcid's proofs when trying not to cum. worked really well. i give it 9 out of 10 bisected angles

How the fuck did you get into it?What did you start with? How does it keep you engaged? Please help.

Not op but taking a class is nice if you lack the motivation to study on your own, generally you want to find a book that introduces you to c since most programming languages are based on ideas presented in it. I started with c++ and this book.
cplusplushelp.weebly.com/uploads/2/5/6/5/25655197/0136022537.pdf
Read through it and do the questions at the end of each chapter. It's beginner friendly and the only limit you have are the natural barriers of the programming language and your own ability, also make sure to comment your code to make sure you remember what your functions do or how they work it makes learning alot easier.

I also forgot to include telling you to consult stack over flow if you really need help but keep in mind alot of the advice you will find uses the notation for C which will work. If you want some extra practice use hacker rank, it's nice and will help prepare you over time if you plan to get serious about programming hackerrank.com/

Interestingly enough I also started with C++ over 12 years ago, when I was 11. My first book was C++ for dummies and I didn't even know what I was doing, just copying blindly examples from the book.
Eventually from editing those I started to get a grasp of how it worked.

I don't know why it keeps me engaged I just always am able to think of another thing I'd like to program

Same for me I just have ideas for different programs I think I would want then work out what I would need to do for it. I actually ended up making a program that works as a multi subject notebook for the next semester while I work on some certifications.

Nice, user!
I'm currently working on a Jow Forums terminal client so I can browse over ssh

Autists that enjoy programming are mankind's future. I have brainlet hobbies like music and vidya

Is a 110-115 I.Q good enough to learn c++? I'm afraid I'm not intelligent enough. Also is 18 too old to start? Most people in degrees like CS seem like they start around 10-12 years old. Will I be too far behind?

You'll be fine. Start now, don't wait any longer. If you really enjoy programming, you'll get good quick. And even if you don't then you'll get a job anyway

what do you like about it? bring me through one of your day dreams.

>tfw programming autist too
>just a few more years of uni and then i will be making $$$$
i know once i enter the workforce that the programming wont be the most challenging part, its going to be the office politics.

I'm retarded. How do I find projects to pad out my resume?

>Jow Forums terminal client so I can browse over ssh
As in proxy Jow Forums traffic through some other machine, that you'll be connecting to via ssh? Not sure if I'm getting it right, but if you make an ssh tunnel through said machine (ssh -L) and then just use some terminal browsing client, that should be what you need.

Kek user, programming is the low IQ man only hope of having a white collar job. Programming and Software Development have the worst average salaries in stem.

No I just mean a client that makes it easier to browse Jow Forums via terminal. W3m wasn't doing it for me and it seemed like a fun project.

I guess I just like solving problems. If I'm not actively programming I usually just have thoughts popping into my head like "oh you could write that function that way..."

This.
Its because there are too many people becoming programmers thanks to our media shilling it. The market is flooded with Indians and now people like OP.

Its like they enjoy being told what to do, and don't even realize it.

Can you hack CCTV cameras yet?

I had a short phase like this with 3D modelling that only lasted a few days. It felt really nice and I wish it lasted longer. Now I don't enjoy anything.

t. butthurt engineering major
I switched to programming because all the engineering experiments were mind numbing as fuck. Record data for hours and plot the error bars on matplotlib or Matlab.

if you like programming, get into ludum dare (starts in less than 6 hours). It's a challenge where you make a game in 2 days based on a theme voted

If you're a great programmer and have talent and passion, you can easily rise above the sea of trash.

Uhhh, just use qutebrowser

I'm a Pharmacist, user. It's just true, cs fags like to boast about how "everything will be automated" and "they" will be the ones behind it. But then, after graduating, they go slave away for shitty companies with their 40k/year office jobs.

I do not like green eggs and ham
I DO NOT LIKE THEM

Dude. I've seen phenomenal programmers fired, just to hire women programmers that can't even understand their normie iPhones. I've seen women programmers and minorities (I'm black myself) get hired because they learned "Hello World" from some camp. I was told that I have to train this chick named Janet in java and xml so our company could reach their diversity quota, she majored in history and apparently I don't count because I went to a top university. Our company doesn't have a spot in my team, yet I'm forced to train her (and her starting pay is the same as experienced programmers). My colleagues from other jobs are seeing the same trend. This job market is getting so saturated, they'd rather lower a competent employees pay just to hire more candidates that are diverse, or train the current development team in newer languages.

On top of that, if there is a job that can be done by hiring some Indian workers for less than minimum wage, you bet that the money you're working for will not go to your pockets.

The only time I get pleasure from programming is when I'm working on my own compiler, at home, away from the shitty politics that happen to be destroying my passion. I met a guy, we will call him Joe, that literally only got into programing because he watched "Mr. Robot" and thought, "Hey thats cool, I think I'll be like that guy since he's on Tv.

Fuck this gay earth.

Do you also wear computer programming socks? :3

I didn't start until I was almost 20.

>linuxfag friend
>Pascal
>it doesn't
Am software engineer now. 4/10, would recommend.

Programming is time consuming, 2 days of work to make it do something simple.

>computer programming
been there, done that. moved on to electrical engineering. i like it much better and i don't think i'll ever go back.

c++ mostly requires a lot of patience. in my experience it's similar to any other programming language but it's much more demanding.
>is 18 too old
no, but i started at 16-17 years old.

programming is becoming so mainstream that it wont be limited to autists. its a big reason why i ditched programming for electromagnetism.

>been there, done that. moved on to electrical engineering.
This is the correct path. Programming -> Electrical -> Mechanical -> Chemical

Honestly in terms of engineering being a weapons engineer is probably the way to go. If you feel weird about your products being used to kill people just become a chemical weapons engineer since your weapons probably won't be used in your life time.

Wrong. Programming is getting saturated. Electrical Engineering isnt. Its way harder and often low IQ people can program, but low IQ people can't into circuit theory.

Weapons engineering is probably the second oldest profession after prostitution. You will make your ancestors proud.

those are arrows, not greater than symbols.

That would not make me feel weird at all.

When you brain makes you think of good good times

>talks about low IQ
>mistakes arrows for greater-than signs
Also who gives a fuck about saturation, I'm talking about wizard powers here. Gaining absolute control over matter and energy. I give no shits about the job market.

Just goes to show how "high IQ" these engineers are. Let's just get it straight, anyone can get into anything if they spend enough time doing it.

Idiots writing bad Javascript doesn't invalidate programmers any more than kids playing with circuit board toys or chemistry sets.

>Programming -> Electrical -> Mechanical -> Chemical
im pretty comfy at electrical, so i wouldn't need to go any further. i do study chemistry sometimes though.

It's just a matter of (in programming terms) scope. Programs require electrical components, electrical components require mechanical components, and mechanical components require knowledge of chemistry. If you want total control over the things you build, it's best to learn them all.

you do have a point there. i might take your advice on that.

Can i still learn programming with the IQ of 90 ? I've tried in the past but never actually created anything because i didnt know which language was the best to start with

>90 IQ
unironically BASIC
you can probably make it work

Sorry you need at least 95 to be a good programmer. 90 is the perfect iq for an idea guy though, you can still be the most important part of any game dev team.

You can learn anything if you want it badly enough, there are differences in ability but its all up to you. i'll provide a pdf for C since thats pretty easy to learn make sure to practice and really take your time

>this thread
>software development/engineering is oversaturated
>they are hiring non-STEM majors and coding bootcamp grads
Niggas, that's the opposite of oversaturatd. It means that they need people and will hire subpar persons. If software development was oversaturatd, we would see MIT CS grads struggling like English, History, language majors etc.

What other hobbies should i try getting into ? I figured programming probably wasn't right for me because i just couldnt figure it out

Well you could try primitive bowyery and fletchery. Literal cavemen can make bows and arrows with stone heads.

carpentry is useful, you could try gardening or maybe get a pet and try to teach them tricks, chess is fun.

why learn them all when you can work together with people though, finding other people who have the knowledge you lack?

at least you have a hobby that can be easily monetized. The stuff I'm interested in won't ever bring me enough even for a pleb tier life

I also appreciate mongolian throat singing
