>Party was supposed to be at 6pm
>Set up a chocolate cake and some pizza and put on my party hat and wait patiently
>7pm,8pm,9pm, nothing
>Door knocks, it's my dad (surgeon so he often comes home late)
>Blows horn as he enters to find no one, just me and my brother sitting on the sofa
>Signals my mom to have a talk, can hear them arguing frantically, my mom assuring my dad that she called all the parents
>Dad gets on his knee and looks to me in a way I never saw before and probably wont see again
>Never seen so much sadness and empathy in the same face
>Gives me a copy of Need for Speed II, and we spend the rest of the night playing it on the win95 desktop
So i just stopped having birthdays

i remember in 8th grade though i was generally very against my parents doing anything like that. i was rebelling att. i think most of my classmates were the same. most likely they all went to the mall without you, that's what i would have done for my birthday in 8th grade

So I turned 19 last week, I was in the same situation as pic in . Except it was a cupcake and one candle.
No one remember it was my birthday in the morning. So arround 6:30 pm my mom comes up to my room with the cupcake and goes "hey user sorry we forgot it was your birthday today" I had to pretend like I had forgotten that it was my birthday too.

Technically nothing, i know my parents mean well and all by decorating, it's just that now that I've seen them in so many sad birthday pictures it makes me feel bad because it makes me realize my birthday is just as sad.

I never celebrated my birthday because the one day I asked someone to come they laughed and said no. I want to know more about this story. I just can't see this happening. The guy had a good enough relationship with his parents to think it's ok to show up to their house uninvited, and the dad snaps at him and tells him to leave. There's either something being left out, or it's fake.
