The reason im drawn to it is because it feels comfy enough that its easy for me to stick with. Weight training sure ill have a good month and then i just stop for like half a year. Jogging is lower effort and kinda mindless and thats the appeal, that i can stay consistent. Guess if my joints get shit then im screwed

Good diet is absolutely critical. You can get away with a bad diet while you're young, but as you hit 30 y.o. boomer status (earlier if you're female) it will be harder and harder to keep your bodyfat low.

Mental health problems can also really derail your life and ruin your motivation to stay physically healthy. Get on a consistent sleep schedule if you can - if that's not possible because of your job or whatever, make sure you get at least 15 hours of sleep every 48 hours. If you suspect you have any mental illness, go see a professional.

Some form of cardio is essential. Running is good but has a high injury rate, especially as you age. If you can row or bike, that's probably something you can sustain for the rest of your life.

Lastly, as others in the thread have said, you should do resistance training to build muscle mass. As long as you are smart about your progression, a strength training program is a good way to do this. It will help your posture, reduce the risk of back problems as you age, and generally help you maintain a healthier body composition (calories go to building or maintaining muscle instead of fat)
