any cute grills?
How do you stand dealing with retail people? I hate my co-workers a lot and the customers are annoying too.
My current store has several, but that's because it's in a really nice, rich white neighborhood. My previous 2 had maybe 3 decent girls between them
It's fucking terrible. Wal-Mart attracts just as horrible a customer base as you can imagine. You develop sort of an emotional callus to it after a while. Or you get a substance abuse problem.
what's the worst customer you've had to deal with?
Most of the worst have been shoplifters that got caught.
Probably the best was this lady:
>60 something lady that comes in once a month to buy 20-25 large bags of cat litter
>horribly rude to all the employees every time she comes in
>always quotes decade old policy, claims she knows tons of people in the district/regional office, throws out names I have never heard of
>she's been coming to the store for years, referred to as "crazy cat lady" by lots of long term employees
>one day after she comes in and upsets a CSM to the point of tears I ask some of the long term associates about her
>she used to work at the store 5+ years ago as a phone operator, hence why she knows names and policies from 10 years ago
>was fired for stealing, apparently caused giant scene when she was let go, tried to take it to corprate but the evidence against her was rock solid
>is an animal hoarder, which is why she comes in buying obscene amounts of cat litter every month
>anyways, our store finally gets self checkout about a year ago
>our new AP is convinced that this lady is scamming the self checkout
>we pull tape to see if she is, and sure enough, bitch is scanning 3 or 4 items when she has a cart full of shit, not paying for the rest
>we decide to let her keep at it until we can prove enough theft to pursue a felony charge in our state
>track her for a couple months until we finally have enough dirt on her
>next time she comes in, we tell the APA to stop her at the door
>as soon as we get her in the office she turns the crazy up to 11
What did your resume look like before you got hired? I can't find fucking ANYTHING paying 15 an hour or so in my region. I don't want to take a pay cut ;.;
>>as soon as we get her in the office she turns the crazy up to 11
please don't tell me it ends here
>starts cussing us all out, get called worthless pieces of shit, dumb morons
>told we're all useless to society which is why we work at wal-mart
>APA pulls her receipt and starts separating out all the things from her cart she didn't pay for
>she's still full crazy mode, yelling about how she doesn't want degenerates touching her groceries
>meanwhile AP manager has called police, officers show up in about 10 minutes
>cops start talking to her about all the stolen shit
>with a straight face she tells them she was going to take the food to homeless shelter and donate it, so there is no reason she should pay for it
>she has taken a sharpie and literally marked out the price on tons of shitfrom the bakery/deli and just written "free" on the box
>starts talking about how she knows people in the walton family and that we'll all be out of a job by tomorrow morning
>Ap manager has gotten with one of the police officers, shown him the records we have of all the shit this lady has stolen
>since she's continuing to be a bitch, even to the police, officer decides they are gonna straight up arrest her ass, instead of citing her and giving her a court appearance.
>once the cuffs come out, crazy cat lady falls apart
>literally starts screaming at the top of her lungs as they cuff her. screams that way all the way out to the police car
>find out later the local PD knows her as she has caused issues at several local restaurants refusing to pay/attempting to leave without paying
She's just one of many, but one that always stands out any time I think of crazy customers
I had about 10 years of retail experience under my belt, plus a 4 year degree (basic BA in business I got online)
had worked for Circuit City, Best Buy, and as a manager for a local retail chain before I applied to Wal-Mart. Went in as an Assistant Store manager, promoted to a Co-Manager after 2 years
what's your salary Mr Walmart man
With my bonus I usually gross about 85K a year
I stocked shelves at Walmart for 6 weeks and quit
few questions:
>why the fuck did I have like five managers?
>is there a deeper, esoteric 'Mr. Sam' cult?
>do you think you're slick for booking people 8 days in a room - 7.5 hour shifts - and not paying overtime because a 'new week' begins in the middle of those 8 days?
When I shop at Walmart I buy a decent amount of groceries and ask for no bags (i put them all in a box in my car). When I'm walking out of the store the security people usually ask to see the receipt since having no bags looks suspicious. This pisses me off for several reasons but I don't want to get into a debate over it. My question is what will happen if I refuse to show the receipt and proceed to my car. Will they physically tackle me and shit?
>why the fuck did I have like five managers?
Goes back to the idiotic way walmart structures management in its stores. You're gonna be under a department manager or area supervisor. You're also under the support manager. You're also under whatever ASM and Co-Manager are responsible for your area of the store. Plus the store manager
>is there a deeper, esoteric 'Mr. Sam' cult?
It's really only the super long term associates who get into that. We used to have a market manager who was 35+ years with the company who has an obsessed with Sam, literally told 1-2 "Mr Sam" stories every time he'd come in the store. Had a shrine of sam walton memorabilia in his office
>do you think you're slick for booking people 8 days in a room - 7.5 hour shifts - and not paying overtime because a 'new week' begins in the middle of those 8 days?
All depends on where you work. In my state, hourly employees can't be scheduled for more than 7 consecutive days in a row, but yeah, plenty of old school store managers/district managers loved that, called it "block scheduling"
is working inventory a good job at walmart? are social skills required? How much physical labor is it?
I spent a good part of my youth stealing women's lingerie from walmart and then masturbating into it.
>security people usually ask to see the receipt since having no bags looks suspicious.
It absolutely does
>My question is what will happen if I refuse to show the receipt and proceed to my car. Will they physically tackle me and shit?
AP can't chase/tackle anyone any more. Too many people got shot/stabbed/killed. If you refuse to show, it'll be logged by the AP guys at the door, the AP manager will go back, watch all the tape of you walking around the store to see if it's obvious if you stole anything. If you didn't, which seems to be the case, then your picture gets printed out and shown to the AP associates, and you'll likely get followed by the AP associate every time you come back in the store.
Social skills aren't really required, but it is a lot of physical labor now. A typical store gets 4 to 5 trucks every day (1-2 GM trucks, dry grocery truck, frozen and dairy truck, and a meat and produce truck), and you're tracked on your productivity stocking (60 cases an hour is the goal)
Is your job hard? Is it worth the 85k a year?
So it would take some Jow Forums training for an atrophied neet to get into I take it?
In your opinion is Walmart a decent place to hit on chicks? I always see a few qts when I shop there. What if I hit on an employee? Is there some policy regarding this? What's the best strategy
how is a sperg suppoused to keep a job at walmart? after working for walmart for 10 months I was fired for droping a fucking paintcan by a manager Iv never talked to or met before
I would honestly pay a little bit more in order to not shop at walmart.
I abhor the walmart crowd. Absolute dregs of society. I don't understand how you deal with it.
I imagine hell is full of broken people like this, all screaming but don't quite know why.
No. I work in retail. Everyone is taught to just let the person go if theyre stealing because if the store is wrong and the person sues its annoying. The security guards are only there as a deterrent. Tldr yeah you can just walk out
I thought they were retiring the comanager position
I just quit walmart after 6 years as a cap2 unloader
do you realize what a fucked up job the unloader crew has?
I'll put it this way. The general stress level is very high.
It's basically running an adult day care center. You have to manage to get 400-500 people to come to work consistently, do their fucking job, do it in a way that is safe, and manage a all the drama/personal problems that erupt from employing that many people
Plus, there is no "down time" at a Wal-Mart. Your only slow months are January and February, after that, you're always rushing to get set up for the next major holiday/retail season
let me put it this way. If you don'y think you could throw a pallet of large bagged dog food in an hour, don't do inventory
In my experience, any girl that gets hit on in a Wal-Mart is going to automatically assume you are a weirdo
Should have open doored that shit. The only way you can be straight up fired without going through the coaching system is if you steal shit or violate some kind of safety compliance SOP like climbing down in the trash compactor
Truck done by 4
I was deli and cart pusher and preferred the carts.
Fuck are there any good positions for an atrophied socially retarded neet or is even walmart too much?
>In my experience, any girl that gets hit on in a Wal-Mart is going to automatically assume you are a weirdo
Why do you think that is? Is it something about getting hit on in a store in general or something specific to walmart? Also isn't your exp different since you're an employee?
They just down-sized it. In our market they reduced the number of co-managers from 30 something down to 9.
Large stores wouldn't be able to run without them, although I don't doubt that Wal-Mart will try it in the near future
That's the burnout rate for Cap 1 and Cap 2 is so fucking high at every Wal-Mart. Also why the back room of almost any wal-mart you walk into is going to look like absolute ass
That person sounds genuinely mentally ill. I don't know what the correct answer is, but it's fucked up that society's current solution is "leave them to be insane until they commit a crime worth locking them up for."
>Fuck are there any good positions for an atrophied socially retarded neet or is even walmart too much?
Get on overnights and beg them to put you in something like Toys where you don't have to lift anything that heavy
Something I had never experienced in my retail career before I came to Wal-Mart, but something that happens 3 to 4 times a week now, is a lady calling for a manager and asking that we walk her out to her car because she got hiton/talked to by a guy in the store.
I've watched with my own eyes a dude walk up to a girl, smile, say hello, do nothing more, then watch that girl walk to the customer service desk and request someone walk her to her car because she felt like he was "stalking her". And I do think it's something that occurs more frequently in Wal-Mart
Shoulda open-doored like said
A few months back a friend of mine knocked over a small fridge they put the fresh dog food in and he's still working there to this day
How dangerous is shoplifting there?
I have a friend who claims he does it daily for more than a year now.
shit now I just feel double stupid
How long are you on Walmart's shit list if you walk out after 4 days with no notice? I had a family emergency about 3 years ago and had to quit the job soon after getting it.
If it's busy, probably not very. You have to imagine that there's at least a few hundred people wandering around at any given time. They can't watch everyone at once and you'd have to be unlucky to get caught. Hell, a dude I knew shoplifted for years and years there without ever getting hit. Or they were just waiting to build a case against him as was stated earlier in the thread, though I haven't heard any news about him ever going to jail/prison for it.
Are employees ever reprimanded for not fake smiling and acting fake friendly enough? Also, are the group chants true?
Wow good to know. I guess walmart does have that super sketchy vibe that most stores don't, especially the parking lots. I might try this at another store though. Any general advice for hitting on chicks at other stores, including employees? Are employees even allowed to exchange numbers?
I've never heard about the former, but I can definitely confirm the latter. It's usually after meetings to set the plan for the day/week, and yes it's just as cringy as you can imagine
What are you're hours like?
I applied to my local neighborhood market as a cart pusher/janitorial. what am i in for do you know?
I used to be on night shift cleaning crew for a Target. I honest to christ saw them doing this shit first thing in the morning after everyone punched in. It was actually kind of unnerving and creepy.
I work 4am-1pm on CAP1, which is your basic inventory/stocking shit. Hell of a lot better than my last job hours wise
That's fucking wild. I work at a grocery store, and I could never imagine that happening here.
Well I'll say this. They have a zero-tolerance policy on shoplifting, meaning if you get caught, they are gonna file charges
Now will you get caught? odds are pretty good you'd get away with it if you aren't being completely retarded
Forever. You're application will be marked with "job abandonment" if you ever re-apply, hence the odds they'd call you for an interview are slim
Yup. CFF is the bug driver nowadays (Clean, Fast, Friendly). The big aspect of friendly is the 10 foot rule, you're supposed to smile and greet anyone within 10 feet of you as you walk around the store.
Dead ass I worked overnight shifts at Walmart for 2 years and it helped so much w/ my social anxiety and social skills when It comes to talking to people. Everyone on overnights are just as weird as you but are good at small talk and not being too Judgy. I recommend trying it for a bit, no skills required besides having a good work ethic and just showing up
How do they "get away with it"?
Is AP so incompetent?
Is a low key smile okay, or does it have to be a big creepy fake smile?
Inform security for the lulz and mock him after he's taken into custody.
Don't tell him you ratted him out though.
Most stores have one AP manager, and 1 to 2 AP associates. You're typical store sees a few thousand people a day in customer traffic. AP is going to catch the obvious shit, people under ringing at self checkout, employees stealing food from the deli, shit heads trying to load up a cart full of shit and push it out the door while looking suspicious as fuck
An AP Manager I really like put it to me this way, "we only have the resources to catch the dumb ones, and we have enough dumb ones that I could have a team of 10 and still not get through them all"
So if get caught stealing small shit, what's the procedure?
so how do they keep her there until the cops show up? do they physically restrain in situations where they know for sure shoplifting has occured?
I mean, they can't legally. You could just get up and walk out, but most shoplifters are pussies and will give up.
but if you leave they will still press charges against you right? assuming they can figure out who you even are.
when did this shit change anyway? i remember these AP guys used to assault people and shit
>Also, are the group chants true?
wat
You mean like chain-gang songs?
Costco >>>>>>>>>> Walmart
You backed the wrong horse
I believe he's talking about having to sing the WalMart anthem when your shift starts. I have heard about that as well and would like to know.
sounds legit psycho
hopefully the pigs got her on some much needed meds
Let's say I shoplift at my local Wal-Mart all the time. How intense is the security cameras and what is your procedure against this?
Whats the pay difference between a superWM, a regularWM, and a NeighborhoodWM
No like weird pep chants. The image of all the retail workers seeing chain-gang sangs is hilarious though.
According to these guys it's true though
I fucking hated working there my nigga. The people were great (coworkers), customers were okay, cashiering makes me want to off myself especially as a male. Having to greet customers and shit, this some female type shit.
i love wallmart stories, best thread right now
What's the most efficient way to shoplift from your store? The one near me has lots of blacked out dome cameras and the LP team is pretty good.
Teach us the most efficient way to shoplift. Is it place some extra unscanned items in the grocery bag at the self checkout?
A thing I always liked to do was go to the deli, order some of those big fried shrimp and just snack on them while I went about my regular shopping and threw the baggy away at any of their convenient trash bin locations throughout the store.
when you get your go backs and they call you for more
nice
