I wouldn't know. If you're going to have kids though think about it. Do you really want to raise a baby or babies every day of your life for years ? Looking after kids is time intensive. Not really. Depends on which places you're talking about. Typically places went to war for economic reasons and wanted control of production, so maybe socio-economic reasons. Fighting aged males would usually be killed to stop them from being able to fight but that tends to mess up production. Women were considered plunder.
If you look at places with birth control policies they tend to favor having male children so they can help to provide for them when the parents get older.

I've know some girls that do get knocked up by guys that abandon them and it's pretty harsh. I pity a lot of girls I've seen end up like that so hard that usually I try to avoid dating the types. I already got enough baggage of my own.

Depends on the person and one's preference.
Some people are willing to go through a lot of shit to not feel alone / be single, and some genuinely care enough about a person that they are fine with taking care of their children as a package deal. There are even those who genuinely enjoy the idea of raising those kids.
Those desperate to get anyone regardless of the baggage they carry are the "cucks" and betabux, the relationships where all involved parties care about one another's wellbeing and happiness simply have different priorities than me.

I can't see myself at all dating a single mother, especially the stereotypical ones.
I value my free time, my (little) money, and my interests/hobbies too much to just throw it all away with practically zero benefits from it.
