Democritus got it right
What went so wrong after 400BC ?

They all got it right but the last two.

>Democritus got it right
>What went so wrong after 400BC ?
There are no fucking writings of Democritus that survived user. Besides, he was pre-socratic and not famous.

>They all got it right but the last two.
Kant was much more reasonable in his articulation of the nature of reality and metaphysics than probably most of all the other guys, except for Wittgenstein. You have no idea what you're talking about.

>Lavoisier
user, wasn't that supposed to be Voltaire?

Most of it seems very contrived and seems more about debating the meaning of words than actual ideas.

whoever did this doesn't know jackshit about philosophy

even for entry level "teach me through memes" perspective, it gets so many things wrong

That's all part of the layers I placed in my post.

Atom concept in acient times was different from our times. But he was right in fact, we are a bunch of many little pieces.

>Camus
>"everything is meaningless but it's ok my dude just have fun lmao"

>Atom concept in acient times was different from our times
Of course, but it was fundamentally the same idea, the idea that everything is made of tiny little invisible pieces.

Camus was just a pseud, I agree.

He was a great writer though
Should've just stuck to prose instead of sperging out about Sisyphus

everything fucking sucks REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Yes, that's all it's ever been: semantics.

>Most of it seems very contrived and seems more about debating the meaning of words than actual ideas.

I understand where you're coming from, but you obviously know nothing about what you're talking about regarding these guys.

>Schop
I think that if every robot would become a philosopher, they would become Schopenhauer.

>Yes, that's all it's ever been: semantics.
Metaphysical discussion is NOT a debate over the meaning of words. It DOES have content.

Metaphysical debate is a bunch of autists trying to impose their headcanon on others.

clean ur balls user

>Metaphysical debate is a bunch of autists trying to impose their headcanon on others.
Granted. But they are not discussions on semantics PERIOD

About as meaningful as discussing semantics, though.

I dont think he has ever come up with a single original point, not to mention when he quotes nietzsche or jung he misinterprets them.

you guys realise that literally all analytic philosophy presupposes this

>I dont think he has ever come up with a single original point, not to mention when he quotes nietzsche or jung he misinterprets them.
Who the fuck is jung?

>you guys realise that literally all analytic philosophy presupposes this
Yes.

>Who the fuck is jung?
the second most famous psychologist/psychiatrist of all time, right after freud

All philosophy is for pretentious basic bitches

Attached: 307.jpg (680x591, 31K)

>All philosophy is for pretentious basic bitches
No it's not. People who are into philosophy are the least basic sort of people you can find.

>I understand where you're coming from, but you obviously know nothing about what you're talking about regarding these guys.
Forgive me I implied the philosophy normally discussed on Jow Forums is the same as the big names like OPs picture

philosophy attracts the dumbest of people, especially now that the internet exists.

I've spent time reading and thinking about it, especially during the time of the enlightenment, where you got Hume, Kant, Voltaire, and Rousseau.

It's interesting, and if you aren't into the thinking part into it, you should at least read the history of philosophy; it's really entertaining.

What do you even know about philosophy, honestly?

>philosophy attracts the dumbest of people
No, that would be high school kids who believe they know anything about science by reading Neil deGrasse Tyson once. God, what a pseud.

Attached: 1536177876079.jpg (546x896, 54K)

You have to be stupid to actually believe this.

What philosophy does, though, is attract the most 'annoying' of people, and not due to the Internet, but due to its' inherent nature.

It attracts people with high verbal intelligence but middling or subpar spatial, numerical and mnemonic intelligence, ie neuro-jews of eveyr race

only continental philosophy though

>It attracts people with high verbal intelligence but middling or subpar spatial, numerical and mnemonic intelligence
I agree except for the mnemonic part. Philosophers tend to have really, really good memory. I don't know where you got that from.

You're just as dumb as the le science nigger for thinking that others think you're smart or interesting because you read philosophy, though.

Philosophy is nothing more than a tool for the boring people of society to feel smart.

>You're just as dumb as the le science nigger for thinking that others think you're smart or interesting because you read philosophy, though.
Never once in my life have I boasted about being smart through philosophy, my mate. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

>Philosophy is nothing more than a tool for the boring people of society to feel smart.
You mean pseuds, you fucking retard.

I agree. Continental philosophers are pseud as fuck.

Attached: 3480736_image.jpg (339x512, 42K)

>What do you even know about philosophy, honestly?
Not a lot senpai. 99% of what I read is just classical lit. The most philosophical I've ever gotten was probably F. Dost, Candide, Confessions from St.A

For fuck's sake dude. You are the biggest fucking goddamned fucking pseud. If you don't know shit about philosophy, why in the fuck do you come here talking shit about things as if you knew anything? You are like a fucking child that enters a fucking college classroom and thinks he is smarter and more knowledgeable than the fucking professor. Fuck you dude.

Attached: 148446236968.jpg (524x400, 35K)

>Never once in my life have I boasted about being smart through philosophy, my mate. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
you're doing it right now.
>You mean pseuds, you fucking retard
yes, that is who I mean, and it just so happens that most people who read philosophy are pseuds, just like you. The fact that you sperg out because I don't call them pseuds directly and rather describe them only raises my suspicion of you being dumb&boring further.

Hey, if you think it like that, then whatever m8. But the fact still remains that philosophers that I consider to actually understand what the fuck they are talking about don't go out of their ways to go around to people boasting about what they know about Kant or whatever. I mean, who the fuck cares about that kind of shit in the general population? Who the fuck gives a fuck if you know a lot about Kant? Nobody. So I guess that the only fucking people that go out of their ways to boast about seeming smart and "deep" are those fucking guys that fucking read Foucault and Hegel and shit like that, and it's not because some people are pretentious that that should ruin an entire body of knowledge at all.

Who /idealism/ here?

>Who /idealism/ here?
Idealism is faulty and may lead to fucking solipsism, but I understand the reason why it is so fucking attractive to believe in. But I still think that Transcendetal Idealism by Kant seems to be the most intelligent way of thinking of metaphysics. I admit though that I got read a lot of Kant before a decisive answer.
Just don't be a rationalist. I don't fucking get why people would ever believe in that metaphysical doctrine.

You're confusing me with another user...

No, I'm not. Fuck you, you pseud.

I study it a lot, the most universally worthwhile study. All the philosophers who are remembered had valuable contributions, even post-modernists who are shit on relentlessly for some reason. My favorite work is critique of pure reason and I think it was the flagship work for modern period philosophy. He opens the door to logically sound, but still useful works without too many presuppositions. I agree most with Nietzsche in philosophy of life and the ought. He was a prophet of the era we live in.

Yeah, fucking Kant's work is amazing. He really was a fucking genius of his time, fellow philosophy-inclined bro.

It should have ended with a picture of Zizek and "everything is in da trash caaan. *sniff*"

>everything is mine
Prove him(me) wrong

Attached: download.png (226x223, 7K)

I know nothing about this subject.

Phylosophy is boring.

Why would I do that? The need to prove you(me) wrong is a spook.

Are you making these threads? There seems to be a lot of philosophy threads. Just take it to /lit/.
