HOW DO YOU MERGE LANES ON A BUSY STREET

you signal. im serious. use your signals. so many people just plain dont signal.

set your mirrors properly, then you won't have "oh fuck theres a car there" moments

>Driving a car
What even is the point? It's expensive and can kill you if your finger spasms or even if someone drops something on the road.

I live in a city with no decent metro. I have to get to work. Wish I could be a NEET still.

That's not a big deal, just go for it and most people will back off and let you through if you're aggressive enough. My problem is turning at no-signal four way intersections, or worst of all yellow turn lane street lights.

I just ride a bike, my city doesn't even have buses worth a damn. You really can go without a car unless you're North American or rural.

I usually just plan ahead and merge maybe like a mile before I have to make a turn. There's bound to be an opening at some point so I try to take it the first instance I see it.

Turn on your turn signal and honk before making sure you there's no car coming from behind.

Buy a truck and force your way into any opening. Most people who dont drive trucks will make room for you so they dont die.

When you see a moment:
1)Turn on your turn signal
2)Start merging before the guy in the lane has a chance to be a fuck and start speeding up

IMPORTANT:The guy in the back WILL start speeding up if he sees your turn signal. Do not give him that chance. Your turn signal isn't you asking for permission to merge. It's you telling him that merging is in progress and he needs to slow the fuck down.

funnel your apathy towards life into not caring if someone hits you and you die

IT MAKES ME NERVOUS
I HATE DRIVING
REEEEE

It's all about knowing the proper way to merge and practicing it. I used to get anxiety when driving, but eventually it sort of went away after a few years of driving

>turn before he can even realize your signal is on
Yeah I want to beat the living fuck out of pricks like you Ive almost been sideswiped so many times because retarded cunts think flashing your signal for one second is long enough.

The best part is if you hit someone already in that lane ITS YOUR FAULT retard and you foot the bill

You're supposed to have buffer space in front of you. Learn the basics.

>before he realizes
I didn't say that, did I you contrarian fuck?
I said merge before he can start speeding up. You don't attempt a merge if you never had enough space. One second is long enough, if you can't register that blinker = merge, then you don't need to be driving. You can see this and I start merging. If I give you another second you speed up and I want to run your ass off the road. Instead I'm in front of you and if you get pissy with me and start tailgating I slow down to 10 under the speed limit.

>it's your fault
never happened because I don't merge unless there's enough room
your insurance* foots the bill
ftfy, my premium would go up if it ever happened but I can drive without endangering others. The same cannot be said of someone who almost sideswipe people on a regular basis.

Lol never had to deal with busy driving. Always drive on gravel in middle of nowhere.

Nobody bikes in my town because it's fuckall cold for the majority of the year, and even when it is warm enough it's still a death sentence. No one pays attention to bikes and they just pull out in front of you. Just last week I was biking down a hill doing the speed limit and I had to swerve into the ditch to avoid splatting onto the side of some idiot's car.

put your signal on and start moving over immediately at the tiniest hint of gap. i dont give 2 fucks if a car behind me blows their horn im getting my ass over cuck

Anyone else have extreme anxiety and panic attacks when driving? I have my license now for 5 years and still experiencing this shit

How often do you drive? If you take the same routes everyday then I can't imagine any reason for having panic attacks or anxiety.

I prefer driving on the interstate far more than I do on residential roads. Can go 80mph+. More space. No stop lights. Comfy

>80mph+
fuck that, watching for cops is way too stressful. Costs too much too, my mileage plummets if I go that fast. I'm the faggot you pass doing 60 in the right lane.

>mirror
>signal
>shoulder
it's not hard dummy

Speed up and overtake them, fug normies and their coexistence on the road.

>my mileage plummets if I go that fast
what? Unless you're 5th/6th at max rpm then doing 80mph shouldn't have any impact on your mileage to any degree that you should worry about it.

100ft of signaling before a turn/merge has always been my understanding of the law, and probably good practice anyway.

Also don't merge in the middle of an intersection OP.

Dominate the streets

Modern day Americans are usless.
