I don't understand why people like music

I don't enjoy music and I cannot understand
why people do. What is good about? It's just a set of sounds? I don't get it. Everyone seems to get really into music and say they love different kinds. I have no reaction to music whatsoever. I don't feel anything.

I was forced to go to a children's choir when I was younger. I was the only one who could not carry a note, so they had to let me go.
My parents didn't understand why.

I feel like there is something wrong with my brain.
How do you know if you are tone deaf?

What is it like to enjoy music?
How does one enjoy sounds?

Maybe you're just listening to mainstream normie shit tier music. Try listening to real music instead, those can give you the feels.

You might have
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_anhedonia

Alternatively you haven't found a genre you like. Stay away from the stuff NPCs listen to. I usually just end up playing soundtracks from videogames and animes.

I can't understand classical music.
What counts as 'real music' according to you?

the human brain fucking LOVES patterns to an unnecessary level for no clear reason

Music is just sound put into a weird pattern therefore (most people's) brain(s) says yes

i've been in your circumstances before, until i realized that i am just picky when it comes to music.
t. metalhead

Literal autism, OP.

Yeah, it's probably just that.

>Maybe you're just listening to mainstream normie shit tier music
in such case what do you think about for instance this?
youtube.com/watch?v=hu_wAuTDUYg

This. A lot of autistic people have no interest in listening to music

I sincerely feel bad for you. Music is one of the few genuinely good things in this world.

It's just sounds. It doesn't elicit any emotion or joy. It gets boring if I just listen to it without doing something else.

This makes sense. I was diagnosed with high functing aspergers when I was younger.
Aren't some autists meant to be musical geniuses though?

Are you able to get anything out of it as background music?

Depends on what flavour of autism you get.

Not the thing user linked specifically btw but any music

Music is an inherently synesthetic experience for most people. It's not "just sound." The sound evokes color and feeling and movement and emotion. It tells a story. It paints a picture of a place.

What kind of genres have you tried listening to? It is pretty common that people can't find any sense in music they don't like and they often find it boring. Try out anything from the mainstream pop stuff to underground death metal, you never really know what you like until you've tried it at least once.

Keep searching for that beat user. I listen to instrumentals as it feels pleasing to the ears without anyone talking as the lyrics or the person singing sounds like shit

No. I'm not even really sure what I'm supposed to be feeling.
To be honest, I should tell you that i cannot sing at all. I was made to try out for choir and embarrass myself. I don't think I can hear the distinction between pitches as well as most other people can. I think my rhythm is off as well.

Monster has a great score, but that's not the best by far. It just kinda is

dont you get distracted or sidetracked when you are listening to music or is it just noise for you?

It's called AMUSIA.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amusia

You were born with it, no big deal I guess.

Still, many normies will be baffled that you don't enjoy the normie shit they listen, especially if you're still under 24-ish.

That sure explains a lot. You're like a colorblind person viewing a picture (a pretty colored one)

If this doesn't make you feel something/imagine something, your brain is just broken.

I don't enjoy capeshit and I cannot understand
why people do. What is good about? It's just a set of computer generated imagery? I don't get it. Everyone seems to get really into capeshit and say they love different kinds. I have no reaction to capeshit whatsoever. I don't feel anything.

I actually only enjoy soundtracks, if I watch a film and I like some theme then I listen the music and remember the scene

youtube.com/watch?v=GKkeDqJBlK8
Listen to this bruh

Didn't make me feel anything. The only songs I can sort of enjoy listening to are anime OPs/EDs and even then that's more because it evokes the feelings of the anime itself than the actual music.

Attached: 002.jpg (1200x1200, 126K)

I guess it just depends. I've heard of people with aspergers who had a special interest in music and really got off on learning the theoretical side of it, hence why some of them become composers I guess.

I used to be the same.
Try classical or jazz.

You might be disabled if this does not stir up some sort of emotion within you; you need only to listen to the first five minutes. Also normalfag music is shit. The majority of music stopped being good in 1910.
youtu.be/SRmCEGHt-Qk

What's "capeshit"?

Ya like jazz??

Orig

>Wagner
Sieg Heil!

Superior version
youtube.com/watch?v=LJdSRECnQh4

Guess my brain is broken. Felt irritated and shocked at 1:11. Had my headphones on too loud. No good emotion.
I had actually heard of this one before. Someone recommended it to me. What kind of emotion is it meant to induce? Sadness, joy or something else?

Pride for you people and culture.

Oh right. So you're a Jow Forumsguy. Isn't music meant to be universal, though? As in, music would induce the same/similar feeling in a German as much as a Maori?

That's not the only feeling that you can derive from it.

It feels too boring and slow. I guess i dont really give a fuck of any people or culture

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_anhedonia
"Individuals who suffer from musical anhedonia tend to find it challenging for themselves to understand why it is that they do not gain pleasure from listening to music. The core societal benefits that have emerged out of the new empirical research on the phenomenon are two-fold: it has helped people with this condition to better understand why they have it and it has served to educate the rest of the population that it is a real and legitimate condition that significantly impacts the lives of many around the world."

Case closed. Thread over.

I have trouble enjoying music if it's not related to something else I enjoy. Like other losers I'll listen to video game sound tracks, but it's only because it brings back feelings of the game I enjoyed. I wouldn't listen to it had I NOT played that game.

I just can't listen to a regular song and enjoy it. I've tried to find music to enjoy. I'll think about video game tracks I like and find similar things to it, and force myself to listen for a while, but it's a chore and I get nothing out of it.

It makes me feel bad. I feel left out. Other people can talk about bands and artists and genres and relate over it. All I can do is say "oh I don't really listen to anything" or "I'll listen to anything" and push myself farther away. I guess this has already been said in this thread but I feel better to say it myself.

How about this:
>youtube.com/watch?v=Q3ty-Y3E1FA
At least try the first movement (it's only 11 minutes).

It's something to cover up the sound of loose pussy during sex

>It makes me feel bad. I feel left out. Other people can talk about bands and artists and genres and relate over it..
You can only talk and relate to NPCs over music if you like NPC music.
If you loved something like jazz, you'd feel just as left out.

And farts, it covers up the noise when you pound the farts out of her.

Based failed normie telling it like it is and ruining the secret for normos

youtu.be/k2HRzIyyXvU

The thing I enjoy most about music is all the different sounds working together to create the music. Try really listening and isolate every beat. They're usually fairly simple, repetitive sounds, but in combination with other sounds it creates something amazingly pleasurable to listen to.

I listened to it but cant get into it. It just gives of a vibe that I fail to understand. This is closer to my tastes of music youtube.com/watch?v=s7pF6_PeamU

You could say that I was influenced by anime because during my teenage years, anime was my life. I didnt have much friends and anime felt so magical to me at that time. Now it developed to this kind of feel that I cannot articulate but abstractly understand.

I am the same OP. It's not that I am tone deaf or anything. It's just like listening to noise.

Dude, try these 2 songs. I can literally listen to them all day long, and it's not some normie shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=Tb--NYHeoRk

youtube.com/watch?v=H82okN1jM0U

The instrumental sounds nice but I cant stand the singer. Its like he is just screaming REEEE on the top of his lungs

youtu.be/_rflXl4Pp58

cya later virgins

So what if you think the vocals suck ass? Music is all about the instrumentals. Good vocals are just a plus. You'll get used to it.

youtu.be/-S1IVlyGQKM

Try this, it's breakcore

Same here. I have nothing to say when people ask me what kind of music I like.

Attached: 1524374836285.jpg (750x726, 56K)

It just sucks that i cannot find an instrumental on youtube. Otherwise, good song

You got it all wrong. OP posted an example of what he likes. He IS the normies.

OP would probably unironically enjoy any "lo-fi hip hop beats to study and relax to" stream on youtube since he likes Nujabes.

youtube.com/watch?v=hHW1oY26kxQ here you go OP.

At least it's not rap so he's not entirely normie, but still it's bland as shit.

do you feel superior for not enjoying music?

Listen to trance.

youtube.com/watch?v=bDnwDUCEu_M

I really don't understand it either OP. Sure, if I'm in my car driving the radio is nice. I like "classic rock" and it's fine. Its just some fun sounds to make the car driving less monotonous. But I would rather do literally anything else besides listen to music and really cant concentrate on anything else when music is going. I can't read, or study, or even shitpost what listening to music. I'd rather read a book or was a movie or play a game.

Sure music in movies or games elevates them but by itself? Boring.

Whenever I meet a normie they always ask "so what music do you like?" and I'm always at a loss as to what to say.

not op if u were refering to but i just like the anime(esque) feel of this song. Also what do you think about this youtube.com/watch?v=GpkHJlyV7TQ

Tone deafness means you have a hard time distinguishing tones.

youtube.com/watch?v=9XRXYaHOlpo

You should be able to distinguish 5 tones in this example (not necessarily on your first try; it can take time).

listen to more trance.

in my experience, people who don't like music fall into two categories: people with some weird neurological condition that prevents them from being able to properly appreciate it and a certain type of social outcast who, by some quirk of their adolescent experience, strongly associates it with various high school tribes, all of which rejected him, and consequently has a vague fear or anxiety about something that is so intimately bound to social belonging/group bonding and hence feelings of rejection and social inadequacy. many seem have this feeling around certain genres and avoid them based on their ticking certain boxes but for many who write the entire medium off, i suspect this is the reason.

If you want to actually get into music you should ask for help on /mu/
Look at their essentials/charts, if you care that is

Attached: IMG_20180923_005348.jpg (1969x3656, 1.94M)

I'm not convinced that people really can dislike all music. I used to be like OP and thought I just didn't like music until I got into metal.
Normie music fucking sucks. 99% of normie music is absolute fucking garbage. The other 1% is just tolerable.

Just because you haven't found the genre that speaks to you doesn't mean that you dislike all music. Branch out what you listen and you'll find it eventually.

This is what you find when you look for symptoms of autism.
