I've been playing piano for 8 years and I love it more than anything. I'm really fucking good. I know that girls like guys who play instruments, but how tf do I leverage my skill on piano to look cool with girls. I never end up anywhere that has a piano... I practice a lot, but I practice in private, for obvious reasons. Where the fuck am I supposed to go to show off and be impressive. Guitar guys have it so easy. I mean, I can respect a guitarist, but seriously the piano is the best instrument in the history of the world by a long shot.
Also, do any of you robos play any instruments? How long have you been playing? Any good?
You know there is this thing that is sort of an instrument and it sounds really cool most bands use them, it's called an electric keyboard. You could actually carry one around easier than a guitar.
Dylan Walker
oh right and yeah i use to play guitar always hated it I should have got a bass.
Connor Brown
I feel like I'll look like the biggest chump ever if I just whip out an electric keyboard and start playing lol.
Luis Harris
You didn't like guitar? Like I said, I've been playing piano almost a decade and I'm really good, so I don't mind telling people I play, but I have dabbled with guitar. I like it for the most part, I can play, like, 4 songs, but I don't know enough or feel comfortable telling people I play. I feel like when you tell someone you play and instrument it sets some kind of invisible precedent of ability. I have that for piano, when I play guitar I never say anything, I just pick it up and play free fallin' or daughters, which gets some attention.
Charles Campbell
Welcome to hell :p
Really.
Samuel Martinez
I wish i can 'play' guitar like you play piano. sofar im not super bad but my skills are basic, I don't have freedom of improvisation on guitar. gotta push myself more i guess. it makes me paranoid because i always think how long will it take before i become good? like really good so that I won't be nervous to say that I play.
Caleb Hall
They're cool you can imitate all sorts of other instruments and do sound effects with it. Like if someone is having a conversation you could make it do a sound like wompwomp or something it'd be funny No I feel really cynical and jaded about playing guitar. I sucked at drums and pianos too. I just don't really feel much inspiration with a guitar I just like stranger synthetic sounding noises than strings unless it's a deeper/lower sound.
Camden Ramirez
Yeah, I know what you mean. That feeling of not wanting to say you play sucks. I think it's a social fear built into us by all the times we casually enjoyed something and then got quizzed and made fun of for it throughout our lives.
For me, It was about 4 years after I started piano that I felt comfortable telling people. The good thing is, as long as you stick with it, you can fucking stick it to people when they try to play "got'cha"
>find a piano >"Oh, yeah I play piano" >"What? Yeah right, no way.." >"Oh alright, hold on" That's always when I play something fucking impressive or obnoxious. Like, Rachmaninoff Prelude Op. 3 No. 2 or Liszt Liebestraum No. 3 or some crashing Chopin or something. It's really satisfying to kinda stick it to them.
Lucas Rivera
If I witnessed someone doing that, I'd
Alexander Powell
But I was addicted to piano ever since I started, I've loved it forever. Back then I used to practice and play 3 hours a day. Now, I have a job and shit, but I regularly still do 3-5 hours of practice every day.

I've played the drums for about 12 years now. I'm good enough to get into any band I would audition for. It hasn't really helped with the ladies really. Depends on the night. Depends on the women. I play in metal bands and that attracts some pretty skanky girls. Also I'm a retarded sperg when put on the spot by women, as in if they approach me to talk after a shownor whatever. It's probably just me.
Asher Garcia
basically all of the instruments except guitar are difficult to leverage into a social situation. Like, guitar it's so easy to play, show off, be impressive, and guitars are fucking everywhere. But what are the odds of a piano or drum set... Honestly you might be worse off, even if you found a drum set, it can be so loud and crashing that people probably wouldn't want to listen to it solo for very long...
Cameron Jackson
yeah all that music is good. I personally respect a pianist who can play those pieces in time with good rhythm feel and not too over dramatic/loud so with good dynamic feel.
i see lots of classical pianists doing this dramatic loud noises and im like theres no chance the composer wanted anything that sounds close to that. even if he did write "extra loud on this part" I guess the idea is that if you learn enough pieces and can play them well you'll get the overall idea of what kindof feel the composer was going for.
Daniel Bailey
You can play drums in a way that will catch people's attention. You just have to know how to play jazzy or latin style beats and grooves. Musically. It's just not something a lot of people think about and the opportunities are few and far between. Also a lot of girls don't give a fuck about how good you are or how much work you've put into something unless it results in something like money or social capital. On the nights where we play to a packed bar and do a great job, then often girls will come around and try to talk to me. If it's a slow night, not really. Fuck, outside the bar setting the only question a woman has ever asked me about drumming was "isn't that expensive?"
Robert Moore
nah man guitar is hard to just wip out like that.(unless you sing) theres no way around it except to REALLY learn how to lay a form of music like blues or something and when i mean really play i mean like play as if the guitar is a band and you can incorprate teh bass line with the solo lines and the rhythm all in one, then that would be something someone might want to see ,but if you are just playing a few chords or a single solo nobody gives a crap and you'll look like a poser. and you also have to learn a wide variety of music so that if anyone says: "hey guitar user you sure play that thing well ,but can you play this genre?" .
Nathan Long
>isn't that expensive
lmao, user.
Adrian Reed
The answer is an original "yes".
Caleb Gomez
i got a guitar and bought lessons last year, then i pirated ableton. i was doing photography for awhile beforehand. i listened to a ton of music since first getting online, never made anything till recently, now im working on something else
David Jenkins
Oh, yeah the guitar itself is a skilled instrument for sure, I just mean it's easy to get it into situations. Like, a piano is fucking hard, cause basically the situation has to be built around the piano (or the piano has to be there first) whereas with a guitar you can kind of inject it into a variety of situations with relative ease.
And I do sing, user! Like I said I only know a couple songs but they're all good party songs or panty droppers. >"Daughters" >"Free Fallin'" >"Stitches" >"Do you remember" >"Take me home, country roads" >"I'm yours" and >"Sittin' on the dock of the bay"
A decent little collection to get some attention and attract some girls. Especially when I sing them. And I've never gotten through all of them before, so I don't have to worry about running out, after 3-4 I usually just stop.
But I know what you mean. I don't know enough about guitar, or have the ability on the instrument to feel comfortable saying I play. Or being in a situation where I might be asked to play specific things or improvise. I always open up with something like "Oh, yeah I don't really play too much, but I know some stuff I could show you guys"
With that as my disclaimer I rarely get asked for anything specific, and people expect less, so when I play some of those songs, they end up more impressed.
I do not treat the piano this way...
Xavier Edwards
Sounds great, user! But try to stick to just a couple things, or one thing if you can! In my experience, building a high level of skill in one thing ends up better than spreading yourself thin trying to do a lot. >I've done both You're better off picking 1-2 things you like, and fucking blowing it open. You spin heads and look badass and you'll love it. >ADHD meds will help with that...
