I have a question for you guys working in the trades.
What is your work atmosphere like?
I'm kind of an autist, but I want to get a framing job and I'm a little nervous about dealing with coworkers.
I currently work at home depot. Bantz are had in good jest, but there is a level of civility required that dictates what can and cannot be done/said in front of women and customers. I'm kinda nervous being in a setting with a bunch of dudebros, military vets, illegals, and the odd Tyrone that didn't qualify for welfare.
Are there hazing rituals? What should I prepare for? I feel like me getting a construction job would be a big milestone to hurdle for me. I'm just kinda nervous.
I have a question for you guys working in the trades
Bro you gonna get raped.
What the fuck? Why would you say that?
You're gonna have a hard time.
Why? I can banter and I'm pretty burly for a 5'8" manlet
Not gonna feel so burly when they're giving you the old initiation rape
kek, they don't care how "burly" you are. you're going to be interacting with real men, and they can easily tell you're a beta loser. Just don't take their shit too personally and you'll be fine, and they'll probably even take you under their wing and teach you how to talk to women or whatever.
Totally depends on the people you work with. In general, people are cool and won't do more than lighthearted bantz unless you're a fuckup who doesn't listen/ try to learn, a bullshitter who doesn't stop talking, or an arrogant prick.
If you keep your mouth shut, match everybody's pace, and learn to anticipate what's coming next, you will do fine.
Go downstairs to Eddie and ask him where the long stand is and then bring it up here to me. Also I'll need you get the glass hammer too.
I need some spirit level bubbles and a left handed screwdriver as well.
Haha yeah Christ that takes me back. I was lucky my dad was the site foreman so he gave me the heads up to pre-lube my ass before getting to work that morning. Made it much easier.
Well that was nice of him. My dad just "loosened me up" a little bit the night before.
The first day will be rough, that's when they all get their turn raping you.
Just don't be a lazy cunt dragging your feet around, or with hands in your pockets, or hands behind your back, or standing around doing nothing, and you'll be fine.
can you decide to be a carpenter in america and just do it?
Pretty much. At least where I live.
This thot is perfect
Hahaha this kids never had a worksite 'firstday fisting'
Man when you get to the fourth guy, your asshole is bloody and you're holding back tears.. just know we warned you.
WAIT. IS THAT IN MANHATTAN
You lucky kids! And your gumption saved you. NEVER get triggered but also dont be a little pussy. It's an odd line. Learn who can take jokes and who are tryhard cucks. If ANY job you are told to do seems to make no sense it is a prank. PROTIP: spent about 3 minutes looking confused at it and then "go take a shit.." google wtf prank they are playing. Gi back, spend 4 minutes filling a level or looking for a board stretcher or wtf ever. Then act like an epiphany hits. Hahaha faggots u got me, fuck the new guy. Yall got me lol... act slightly dumb but show up the next day ready to rock.
Standard self help books bullshit
Ask questions u dont give a fuck about. Laugh at stupid faggot jokes.
Find a way to dance around the shit talking.
Shitcunts 100% Will talk shit and makeup lies on you.
Ignore it, act cool, and continue.
Ffs texting social constructs is dumb.
U live near bartlesville oklahoma?
who dis?
Your biggest concern is running into another autist, particularly one even worse than you. He's the one going to take the jokes to far and not handle your responses.
Pre-work diner breakfast is comfy as fuck
when I worked a landscaping job at a college, me and my boss would talk about pussy all day and make lewd comments about the girls we would see while working. it was beautiful.
No one cares about you enough to mess with you. If someone does mess with you it's because they like you. People just want to you to work hard so their job can go smooth and they can go home.
Getting the fuck out of retail and into a trade would be a great move. Working for home depot probably sucks, you probably have tons of stupid rules to deal with.
Don't try too hard to be tough, but don't be a pussy. You don't need to killyour
Construction will require you to think for yourself while still paying attention to what the higher-ups want. Generally it will be a men's only environment, but you only really need to watch your mouth if there's customers or your boss is around. As long as you're a good worker, no one will care about anything else. Most people in the industry are older than you and are all there just to do the same things: get shit done, and get paid.
The more people you work with, the more you will learn. But yeah man, Home Depot probably has a lot more social bullshit than construction. As long as you are respectful to others and work hard, most people will be cool to you.
But all of that being said, sometimes there are assholes. I worked for this one guy who drove 3 different mercedes, and had a fucked up eye, so he thought he was tony soprano but he was a pusy. No one liked him. He would pull people aside and berate them. And he would just make everything operate horribly, because workers in a shitty mood produce shitty work. If you get stuck working for a guy like that, start selling yourself to other companies as currently employed and you'll be able to job-hop away.
Bro I did it. Exact same position, became a plumber in construction, with a crew of like 7 dudes currently. I was pretty autist. Still am. But It's pretty easy once you're in the crew, you'll fall into the rhythm cause the weeks and days just keep coming and you get used to it. What really helped me was putting my fucking head down and getting to work. Don't be the fucktard that just looks at his phone, who's being lazy. Then maybe you'll get hazed. Just work hard and try to be an asset to the team. No matter how awkward you are, like I am, the guys will like you if you're being useful.
Generally, I find I really like all my guys in the crew. All salt of the earth dudes, the older guys are all fathers and are cool but very respectable and experienced people. The younger guys are all real nice. This is plumbing though. Framing - I'm not too sure. There's probably more rough and different kinds of dudes in the framing and drywall world, as it's a trade that's considered less "prestigious." Regardless, being in a crew of dudes helps with the autism no matter what.
I'm doing automotive certification courses, and I'm also working in a factory (and grocery store part time)
They're very forgiving environments I believe, in the sense that as long as you're working the best you absolutely can and just do what you're told, people in the factory generally respect you. One time me and a bunch of guys were working and I swear it was like hanging out with highschool friends, we just bullshitted the whole time, told jokes and stories while working on pallets
Automotive, we joke and bullshit a bunch, but when it's time to work on something, it needs focus
Grocery stores are too bullshittingly liberal. I got in trouble for simply saying that I was tired and wanted to go home and sleep around a customer, I was actually written up. I was also written up for asking my boss a question about something she was borderline harassing me over. Im not allowed to say or do anything that makes me look like I'm not the happiest I've ever been than working at a grocery store
Trades are for people who are actually down to earth and know that nobody really gives a shit, just do your job and try to have fun because it's mind numbing
