Vidya are officially dead to me, I just can't enjoy it anymore, it died a slow death over the last 5 years but now I officially cannot play it anymore since it makes me physically sick to try and force myself to 'enjoy' them, problem is I have nothing to replace it. I also have no friends so anything like that is off the table. What do you robots do with your free time? I feel like there's a void in my being since there isn't anything in the world that I look forward to or enjoy. I've given up on women since I'm irrecoverably ugly. That means the two things I cared about, vidya and women are gone. Now I have nothing to do for fun or strive for, so what do you robots do in your free time? What do you do that you enjoy or for fun to stave away the monotony of school or work? Why do you live?
What do you do?
do you anons do anything for fun?
I talk to one girl. Or I spend all day drinking. Everything else sucks.
Do you have a little bit of cash?
Skateboarding is kinda fun.
Guitar is a little fun.
Gambling at a casino can be fun and profitable (or destroying)
damn that's rough, hopefully another user has a solution because I can't think of any decent hobbies.
Also stopped playing video games. Main reason was lack of interest and the cost (games, console/PC upgrades, online service subscription, etc). Renewed my library card after a decade of disuse and I've found reading much more enjoyable than I did as a kid/teenager (plus it's free).
congratz, you have grown up.
go do things in real life, go golfing, go rock climbing, go kayaking, go take photoz in nature... do whatever, even if u thin u wont like it... the point is to go out and make up for all the time you lost.
yeah I have some money, can't skateboard since my balance is awful, can't guitar since I can't look down rn due to eye strain, can't casino since I'm saving money to invest. would invest for fun but I just don't enjoy it enough for it to be 'fun', it's just too serious since the stakes are pretty high.
been into music for 6 years. It feels like I've finally reached the endpoint of it and have settled down to "dna" tracks if I want to actively listen to a tune again. my taste there has finished.
sort of interested in broken human jarred language from the underground and will probably spend my time tying to develop that because it is something to do and something to smile at the end of the day. i will recalibrate my brain flows one day this is just blow out phase and stupid to say your stuck here. gaining mass is another thing to do but i keep vomiting
hmm
Your town may have an arcade.
Those can be pretty fun.
They do still exist lol
I'm opposite :/, used to love reading as a kid, but since I had an eye injury it makes me sick, can't stand audio books either.
My only hobbies are shitposting here, doing psychedelic drugs, and researching random obscure things that interest me.
Go to the gym at least once a week. It will make you feel so fucking good.
maybe, I really should get out more and exercise, problem is I can't think of anything interesting to do.
arcades are cool but I don't like gaming anymore
Mycology, find mushrooms, get spore prints of them done.
you need to get active... go out and do random stuff, if you hate a thing after doing it, look for something else.
1. go rock climbing at indoor course
2. go to driving range
3. buy a modest camera and go take photos in nature
4. read philosophy, eventually you will be smarter then a lot of people and you wont feel so bad when you see how they live their lifes.
5. stop judging people 100 percent, accept them.
6. get sober... for a few months, it will clear your mind and free you from yourself.
7. dont go running, get a bike and ride daily for exercise, listen to audio books.
8. do not try to find a girl to fill the void, it wont work and you will loath your self for trying
things you can go do
find a cafe philo meeting, often at library
go to library, they have a huge amount of good movies and tv shows, all new too... just out on dvd films.... find good ones on /tv/ and watch them to grow your mind.
maybe go to gym too.
I'm planning on doing that once I'm healthy enough, but for now my eye health is not good enough
can't do that stuff since I have eye issues, just realizing how limiting my eye problems are the more I read this thread, no wonder I'm a shut-in, fuck
at this point, you have to get rid of the interesting as motivation and just go do it... you want to retrain your brain away from want and realign it to need....
right now you need to change. start tomorrow... if you get a illness or injury, it could take away the oppurtunity to do so forever.
i got ulcer colitis and a back injury within a few months, now i will never go skydiving, work out properly, go running like i used to, date, travel, etc.
you dont know how good you have it till its too late applies to us all. count your blessings and make peace with the obstacles, they mostly can be overcome.
how do eye issues prevent you from doing that?
idk I've had poor health since I was a kid, so I can definitely appreciate what good health does for a person, unfortunately it's too late for me since my health just keeps getting worse. I haven't given up totally yet, but things looks bleak. I've been trying to slowly improve things as to not shake things up and make it worse, so hopefully I can get my life back on track by the end of this school year.
Aww sorry to hear that :(. Hmm, well like another user mentioned, probs best to try and replace it when another hobby. Maybe something like gardening? Shouldn't be too strenuous on your eyes/body. Could do a variety of things like flowers, succulents, fruit trees (if you have your own yard), and food. Growing your own food would also let you practice cooking which could be another hobby
buy gunnar eye glasses, when we look at our cpus, we see Jow Forums or whatever is on it, but in reality, its thousands of tiny little pixels all working in real time and also changing in real time, this is fucking your eyes up even more.
they are like 65 bucks and work great.
I only have one good eye and it's been having escalating problems in the last year, straining like would be required in working out, or even stuff as simple as looking down like one does in golf or eye straining like in photography cause me problems.
I have my own garden and use it to supplement my cooking and brewing. It's pretty satisfying to crush heirloom variety fruits you grew and ferment them into a nice wine. I'm hoping to take it further by doing some beekeeping and using that honey for meads. Also using the beeswax for soaps or to compound lip balms.
gardening sounds fun but unfortunately I live in a dorm so there's no place to put plants.
I'll look into that, ty.
I'll do that once I graduate, but for now I can't garden for the next 3 years minimum :|
Good on you dropping video games. They really are for shit, especially since normies and zoomers took over the space.
I've been playing lots of chess lately.
Also been getting back into programming. Building a website atm.
would surgery fix it? you may want to consider looking for a job with insurance.
sometimes we have to do that to get better.
Got tired of vidya, switched to chess. Got tired of anime, switched to books.
that's cool, I've actually thought about getting into programming but idk what language to learn, any recommendations?
unfortunately the surgeries after the injury are what caused most of the problems in the first place, I took 2 years off school to exhaustively pursue all my options and it came down to dozens of doctors telling me there was nothing they could do, basically I'm fucked.
Prepare for war nigger
I just enjoy watching travel vids on YouTube or footage of trains riding along the rails while having ambient or trance music playing. It feels and sounds good.
ik what you mean, I like watching travel videos too, but over time I realized I was just living vicariously and didn't want to continue that pattern in my life so that I regretted my actions where I used my (relatively) healthy years just wasting away watching other ppl live their lives on the computer instead of living my own life. it's great for relaxation, but i don't think i was using it in a healthy way
I believe web-development is the most useful "stack" to learn. This includes HTML/CSS/JS (frontend) + PHP/MySQL (backend).
As a complete beginner I would starting with Javascript. Then do HTML/CSS (not real "programming languages", easy to learn) and then do backend stuff.
On the contrary, I felt like watching those travel vids helped me realize that it was more or less a waste of time to spend all the effort and money to travel to exotic locations at least when they did all the travel for me. I hope you find something constructive to put your time into, friend.
