What is the best starter and why is it Torchic?
poketendies
in b4 reddit fag posts this
>picking the fire starter
Imagine wanting to do things the hard way
Right gen, wrong mon. Treecko is the best, though totodile is also acceptable.
Enjoy being fucked by every steel type
>fucked by steel types
First of all, Mudkip line gets ground and fighting attacks, and there is no reason to pick fire just to kick one gyms ass. Secondly,
>grass
>bug
So much of these are just bug grass, and both are pretty vulnerable anyways, this barely matters
>ice
Rare until late game usually and even then they have the most weaknesses in the game
>steel
>has fighting and ground weakness
Some dual types like Skarmory are a bitch but there is only one steel type gym leader with the second most common steel type being Steelix used by gym leaders which lol@ having trouble beating those. Steel is op but not worth picking fire over when
>ground
>rock
>water
Are some of the most commonly used moves in the game (surf, rockslide and earthquake etc).
>torchic
that's a weird way of saying piplup
>uses one single fire move the whole game
people who pick a fire starter dont actually care about gameplay. also, totodile is pretty neat.
>totodile
this. plus, I generally switch my starter out for something stronger by the time I get close to the end of the game.
I think Charmander is the best starter, and Charizard is my favorite pokemon.
Don't respond to my post.
Totodile by far, too bad the evolutions are shitty
>plus, I generally switch my starter out for something stronger by the time I get close to the end of the game.
off yourself
*responds to your post*
nothin personnel kid
Too bad Blaziken is uber. Torchic is too good so I'm going with mudkip, I love swampert.
Also, friendly reminder that if you play vgc you're a fucking faggot.
>all 3 gen 2 starters>all 3 gen 4 starters>the rest
i am objectively correct.
Starters are for normies. Real pokemon legends always ditched them in the early game and focus on training caught wilds instead.
>gen 2 and gen 4
Mostnstarters are better thwn every other pokemon until lategame
So much this.
Starter are for babbys.
Yeah and thats the whole reason you are winning. Not because you actually worked your way up.
Chimchar has a better moveset.
Chimchar is cuter
Chimchar turns into sun fucking Wukong
Litten turns into a heel luchador.
Torchic status: BTFO
Speedboost faggots need not apply.
Nigger I have beaten kanto with a single genetically superior rattata. I had to evolve it at the sixth gym though.
You are unironically a fag if you don't want this as your starter
>plus, I generally switch my starter out for something stronger by the time I get close to the end of the game.
how can you even do this? i remember when my starter died due to getting critical hit'd in the first gym and i felt like shit. i had picked mudkip. sure, then my 2nd most powerful pokemon (a shroomish, which then evolved into a breloom which is coincidentally my favorite pokemon) took over as team leader and btfo'd the entire region, but it still felt weird to play without my starter.
>kanto
which game? probably not yellow. you can't tell me you beat yellow sabrina with a rattata.
This thread doesn't need to exist. Obvious answer is mudkip, you fucking Neanderthals
The smug snake + that ability that reverses its state changes + leaf storm is fun
if that's Blaizken then this is Primarina
Shit design though. Modern pokemon designs are fucking trash
It was actually on pokemon revolution online, so using the new battle system and moves from the later gens.
>tfw sucker punch an alikazam
feelsgoodman
Ummm no Serperior has an awesome design. Giant snakemons are always top tier you fucking plebeian
Nerds not picking charmander because they are used to not having to try
how does it feel to know it doesn't count?
I can't go back to shitty early gen mechanics now. Imagine hyper beam relying on attack instead of special attack.
tbf some moves were indeed fucking ridiculous before the physical/special split. bite and crunch both relied in special attack despite the move consisting on 1 pokemon biting another. the elemental punches were also all special moves. it just made no fucking sense, although some pokemon like typhlosion benefited from that. i had a thunderpunch typhlosion in gold that was the shit.
Nigga think of Alakazam he had all three elemental punches. Alakazam only has dazzling gleam and hidden power now.
torchic is the only good fire type in hoenn, and this isnt the same situation as picking charmander
I think totodile is my favourite starter overall, chikorita is good too
but despite those perfect reptiles, I think gen 4 has the best trio of starters out there
torkoal kicks tremendous ass in-game, don't disrespect
tanks suck in story runs because the game is too easy. why waste time with something that does no damage
you probably play the game on shift, don't reply to this post
I was hoping to see poketitties
I heard you cunts talking shit like I wouldn't find out.
Set just makes it harder to distribute exp. if you want a challange dont play pokemon
the ai is shit don't kid yourself either way
Anyone else ever ditched their starter relatively early?
On my very first gen 4 playthrough I picked Piplup because I like birdy looking Pokemon (Torchic is one of my favs as well), however I almost completely ignored it once I caught a Shinx. Luxio and Luxray are really cool as well.
yeah but playing on set requires you to take hits which makes bulky pokemon like torkoal way more valuable
Real Chad's chose chimchar.
the smartest way to finish a Pokemon game is by using only the starter Pokemon to battle.
I don't remember if I had a torchic or a treecko but I swapped it out with a swalot early on. It ended up being my highest level for the rest of the game.
No, it's pathetic and weak.
Wrong. Mudkip is!
This belongs in more than it belongs in Jow Forums
Jow Forums is dyinf and its these kinds of threads that keep it alive
Also Jow Forums has NO TOPIC
Only good in his own gen cause there's no other fire types
excuse me i think you made a mistake
I always pick treecko, but towards the end I change him for either aggron or milotic (even though it's a pain to get a perfect milotic)
The effort to get a feebas is so tedious. I would choose mudkip anyways since he outweighs both of the starters and gets access to ground moves with STAB
I like lotad with leech seed better(used shroomish for leech seed to breed)
