Generally, my circle of friends are almost 50/50 men and women, and I socialize a lot with women who I have no romantic or sexual interest in. I would bet that I am more social and outgoing than 95 % of Jow Forums.
Me having more close female friends is probably more by chance than anything else. My close female friendships stem from having the same experiences and references in life and childhood, not a ton of mutual interests as adults.
But I do differ a bit from my male friends in that I seem able to have female friends without getting obsessed by the idea of fucking them, while a lot of my male friends will at some point or another try to fuck their female friends, then get angry if they get rejected, or they end up hurting her because they only wanted to fuck. Now, I have been in a committed relationship most of my adult life, so that may be part of the reason, but even before that I never hit on my female friends, and I never thought about them that way even though I am not blind.
