I personally never was a fan of nuzlocke. I'd rather play difficult romhacks with the entire dex available like Cuckold Emerald or Blazing Black and craft teams with particular themes or just use pokemon I never used before. My current run is my favorite pokemon every type and I'm alternating around a team of 18. Surprisingly fun training 18 pokemon at once.

Nuzlockes aren't hard just time consuming. You just have to spend more time grinding, hell, you could grind one all the way to lvl 100 just in littleroot if you have a week to kill

Limiting grinding would be the only way to make it actually difficult, your emu has a fast forward button that goes all the way up to 16x if you have the paid version. I refuse to play pokemon Below 4x speed because it's so mind numbingly fucking slow
