Exercise does next to nothing to help with weight lose, except increase metabolism if you do it for a while. If you ran several miles you'd burn the caloric equivalent of an apple. Stop eating like shit and you'll lose weight. If you want to lose weight fast do keto for a few months

Try cutting your carbs to below 150 a day, if you miss a few days when you start out and go over that’s ok, just try to keep your carbs in mind when selecting meals, and gradually get more strict with it.
Keep yourself in a caloric deficit. That App I told you to download will help track both your macros (carbs, fats, protein) and calories and will give you a rudimentary maintaince calorie level to that you need to eat a few hundred calories less than a day to lose weight. Just be honest with the app and you’ll see results.
The best way for you to lose weight would be to to strength train, do something like Jason Blaha's Ice cream fitness, but also do cardio on the same day, you will lose weight and get strong as hell.

The fastest way is to start a diet. Losing weight is 80% diet, 20% exercise. I'd even say it's 90% diet, 10% exercise. Exercise sucks for losing weight.
Anyway, you shouldn't start running right away. Running is a high impact exercise, it'll fuck your joints up pretty easily. I'd recommend either a stationary bike, an elliptical, or swimming. Swimming is ideal, if you have access to a pool. Also because bike/elliptical is fucking boring as hell.
I can't stress this enough: diet. When I started, I didn't lose a single pound for 3 weeks because I kept chugging energy drinks and cake, all the while killing myself by biking 2 hours every day. Not a single pound lost.
Also, if you didn't read the sticky: when you're getting near your target weight, I'd recommend you start lifting. Not to get jacked up, but because if you only do cardio, you'll lose weight very fast (2lbs per week), but you're gonna turn into a skinnyfat (a skinny guy with a big belly). If you start lifting, it evens out.
Running while you're overweight and out of shape is a fast way to lose motivation and tire yourself out. It's not worth the tiny amount of calories lost from it. Not to mention the impact it will have on your joints.
While cardio exercises obviously have tons of health benefits, losing weight is all about the diet. You could be bedridden all day and still lose weight. Focus on a calorie deficit diet and start easy on the cardio. Going too hard too soon will make you crash and give up. Weight-loss is a marathon, not a sprint.
