Anyone else left uni and can't find any fucking work? Studied Film and Television Production and now I'm fucked.
Fucked Graduate
Other urls found in this thread:
No, because im not an idiot and majored in comp sci
Now i have a comfy coding job working from home
Sucks for you faggot
>graduate
>fucked
try wasting 3 years on a degree and not graduating
>6 years
>2.5 pretending to be enrolled before changing to another degree
> will be late 20s graduating with no experience in anything
That pic is LITERALLY ME
It is a self portrait.
Atleast you're not literally this guy, I should just end it.
Pic? Need the laugh.
Not gonna post a pic of myself desu, but pretty much exactly like him but I have a blanket around me as well.
Not even like a quarter pic?
I was in my late 20s before even starting. Graduated in my 30s but employers weren't interested.
>graduate
>get invited to plenty of interviews but always turned down because of the 'tism
What are some good degrees in Europe with guarenteed jobs and above average payment?
It took me 9 months after graduation to finsld a job. Keep at it.
there are no guaranteed jobs but chemical engineer
>with guarenteed jobs
Hahahahahahahahahahahahah
Should I bite the bullet and go for a law degree? I have no interest in doing anything
If you have no interest in doing anything, why would you go for the job where you sit in a courtroom?
If you live in the US --> no
In Yurop --> yes
My fiance just found out he failed the BAR. Shit ain't easy.
Did Comp Sci. realized the field is mostly populated with the worst of people, basically male version of gender studies. Killing time before I can go into the Air Force and get that GI Bill for a master's.
College is a fucking meme that will slowly die. In the future the only important thing is what you know to do, practically, no if you have a degree. How many languages do you speak, how fast are you killing Jews, etc. the Jews are the problem.
>every fucking website making it clear they want only brown applicants
And then they call white people privileged.
>He fell for the college meme
hahahahahaha
What fucking tools
Math and computer science major
Working for $11.95 an hour at a sprinkler plant
How the fuck did I mess up so badly?
Didn't look your employer in the eyes and shake his hand firmly, user.
Too lazy to upskill and find better opportunities
That or you probably have anti-charisma, but in that case how did you even get a job at all
Medicine, education degrees in some cases
I'm a college drop-out and I'm working at a start-up company making 12 dollars an hour, if it takes off (and it's not a meme company) I could be making 40-50 an hour....
Here's where you fucked up, you don't need 2 years of math to learn to program. And you don't need to know C to know how to program in higher level languages.
How about if I want to move to Europe as an American?
>fiance
women shouldnt be in law
I do have a vague interest in politics. I'd like to be the voice for robots
This plant will hire anyone that can pass a drug test
It's probably my location
I can't move anywhere until I get the money but I can't get the money until I get a better job
I didn't want to be a programmer but I'll take that instead of this
Fucking bootlicker "I did gud is szhool" faggot.
Have fun working for the company I found.
>Went to school for math/compsci
>Didn't want to be a programmer
Wow, THAT'S another level of stupid.
>women shouldnt be in law
Literally said he was male.
There are actually better opportunities for people with that background than code monkey. Like well-paid code monkey for example.
I'm about to start making clean socks for stinky jocks for 12 an hour. Also Comp Sci graduate.
>tfw csfag
>tfw took 6 years to gradate
>tfw probably killing myself if i can't even make 6 figures by 25
My father has been a well-paid code monkey his whole life, he makes 300k a year. College now-a-days in the real world is a giant sign that says "Sucker" after your name. Unless you're another sucker. Owning nothing and making 50-100k a year is somehting to fucking sneeze at. Owning a company and making that same amount of money, paying other people, and living a life of ease, is a much better option. A degree actually wastes time you could spend making your own business. 4 years to go to school and get a piece of paper that says "I don't know very much except calculus (Something you hardly ever use in business applications) and I'm ready to make my first 75k, minus the 60k you or you offset on your family for tution. Or you could be in the work force, in your first two years work up to 70-75k, and maybe have a high position at a company or stock options, and have skills to run your own company. All in all, college isn't necessary and actually wastes time and money. On the whole.
Ok, so gays shouldn't be in law
I've seen him develop a handfull of multi-million dollar applications for OTHER PEOPLE. Because he had bills and a family to support, and needed money in the short term.
Realistically, you're 25, you just got out of college. That only gives you 5 years to start a business before you have a family you have to support. If you don't get one before then. It's a hedonistic treadmill of conformity and you're just meat on the assembly line.

Honestly just thinking out loud at this point. Why would I want to subject myself to the fucking hell-hole that is school. I always hated school. Anyone with a brain hated school. And given the opportunity to go back, for free even. I have to say. Fuck off, no.
Be prepared to kill yourself lmao, you're entering the most saturated job market in the US today
You aren't making 6 figures unless you work 70hr/week doing specialized "rockstar" work
Jesus what a spergy tangent
Hey user I'm studying cs any tips for success?
Currently majoring in physics. Will I make it bros?
Move to Silicon Valley and you will likely make that. Of course you will get raped by the cost of living though.
be smart, work hard, work on side projects in spare time
Physics is GOAT but you have to be lucky to get a job in academia or industry, only a bit over half of physics grads stay in STEM
Decided I'm going to write smut fiction bros and sell it on amazon for cheap bucks. If I write 100 smut fics that gain me a few bucks each per week, could be looking at a modest income.
I went actually as a physics major
Changed to math
Added comp sci last year
Glad at least someone is in the same boat as me
I enjoy reading these threads, Im a bit of a nutty chocolate bar if you can dig it?
>writing as main source if income
i'd blow my own head off.
Sure if you don't enjoy writing. Any other field of work and I feel the same way.
Yep, I studied a stem degree and spent almost exactly one year out of work before finding a really, really shitty job where I was underemployed.
There's so much wrong with education, particularly higher education in my country, I could type posts and posts about it. Needless to say though that yes, uni fucked me as a graduate.
i do enjoy writing. but i also enjoy a different occupation.
How are you with a job now? Any improvement? Please storytime.
I had that shitty job for a year. I'm in the UK and the apparent average salary for a graduate of my degree is supposed to be 22k; I was on 14. This is one of the many, many aspects of careers/education in my country - everyone talking about it is at least ten years out of date and usually talking about an economy or even whole industries that either don't exist or are so different from how they used to be that it's pointless to discuss how current graduates fit in.
Now believe it or not I'm doing a Master's. Don't worry though I'm only doing it with the guarantee that I've got onto a PhD after it as long as I don't fail horrendously. Ultimately what I want to do is go into research. My undergraduate project was in a very specific field and I am still interested in it and would like to eventually become something of a field expert as it's relatively underresearched at the moment around the world.
Story time would be a lot for me to type because I'd want to clarify and explain certain things as I go, might spiral out into a giant walltext or two.
I'm from the UK too, would like to hear more if you have the time.
I started typing out a big long thing starting with the historical context of how the current state came about but I'm sorry it's just too long and I'm too tired.
Anything specifically you're interested in?
Link me to one of these websites. The numbers don't lie, blacks still barely get jobs
Why haven't you all just taken the medpill? As long as you pass (>70%) in courses, you are guaranteed a job (at least in the US) because there's a physician deficit in the US on the order of thousands.
Of course, getting into your residency of choice, etc. is getting hard, but you don't even need to practice. You can just go straight out of med school into bioinformatics or pharma job and make bank automatically.
Reminder that no matter what you choose and how needed it is in the job industry, you'll always be fucked if you don't use college as an opportunity to do unpaid internships to get over the experience hurdles, and make contacts because it's who you know and not what you know, no matter the degree.
>side projects
Got any suggestions for projects a retard or not that intelligent person could do?
medpill is school forever. this girl i went to highschool with is still in college and we were class of 2008. how is that even possible.
how do you have time to intern and then still survive with bills and food? work 3 jobs?
I got a fine arts in film and video production, hasn't helped me at all.
If you want to work in the industry you have to go where the work is. Not sure where you live but here in Vancouver it's busy because of how shit our dollar is compared to America's.
Best way to get your foot in the door is to be a production assistant. It's an entry position so your at the bottom of the totem pole and you work 15 hour days, but the production feeds you and you get to see how a film set operates, and if you see any department you want to work in you can go up to them and talk to them.
You'll start off doing daycalls so you have to have a positive attitude because daycalls don't get fired they just don't get called back. If you can prove yourself to be a hard and reliable worker you can get hired for a showcall which is 15 hour days 5 days a week so be prepared to not have a life. The hours when you work also can be random. For example: if the shots are all night scenes expect to be showing up at work at 5pm and getting off work at 8am. Also, having a car is pretty much mandatory to get full time work. because you can be filming out in the wilderness for a few days.
It's contract work so hopefully you were working a part time gig gaining work experience while going to school and know how to live frugally because when it comes to money it's a feast or famine.
-user who's been a production assistant for 2+ years
I got a graduate degree in an engineering field, but because I live in Canada the job market is absolute shit. I guess I could just go work as a temp in a factory, but I'm not hurting for money yet and I feel that if I do that I'll never be able to get a professional white collar job. In many ways I've kind of given up.
Okay but how do I become a production assistant? Who do I go to for that?
Go to the Directors Guild of Canada BC website's production list. There will be listed all of the productions that are being done in the GVA and on Vancouver island (such as Arrow and The Flash for example). Just email your resume to the production office and they'll forward it to the Assistant Locations Manager (they hire production assistants) and hopefully they'll see your resume. You can also go to the production office and drop off a physical copy of your resume. Keep trying and eventually someone will hire you, then it's pretty much don't be late and don't fuck up.
>tfw brit
The UK has to have some kind of guild website that hires production assistants. Got no advice for you there.
I worked with a guy who came from London England to work in Vancouver's film industry. He's now a camera trainee. He makes less than production assistants right now but when he moves up to 2nd camera assistant he will be making some serious cash.
Don't give up.
Sounds like she fucked around and didn't just take the fast track. Typically it takes 8 or 9 years of school, since many take gap years.
This but make it seven years. Not kidding.
i have bio degree i have no job
hehe
I really want to drop out but its impossible for me to find work. I just need enough money for rent and food but everything around me is part time minimum wage shit and even those jobs don't hire me.
>mfw Fine Art student
Only this year left and I really dislike it. I can't see myself being an artist or really doing anything art related.
I honestly don't know what to do with myself. Despite people pushing me and encouraging me to do art, I feel like I'm ultimately the one to blame. I had a couple of ideas of what I'd like to do but they were crushed by disapproving parents, and who knows? Maybe I'm just a little bitch and would have hated studying that too
>fine art
What's your course like?
Damn that's a lot of money to waste
There's a g challenge sheet that you can roll for general shit. If you have a specific company you want to work at then do projects around what they're working on. Went to a talk from a VP of a fortune 500 company a while ago and said that the jobs that they'll be looking to pick up are AI and machine learning so read and do projects on that.
They give us lectures twice a week and it's usually art history related and you aren't required to use it in your coursework
We have no exams, just coursework, essay work and exhibition. They do give us tutorials sometimes but otherwise you're on your own, they don't teach anything like how to paint or other techniques
What a waste of money. I'd say time too, but I am studying abroad so that was a big experience for me, plus I learnt to stop being socially awkward, so there's that I guess
Why did you pick a meme subject you doofus?
I actually know a prominent Australian film director. They never even went to Uni full stop.
I dropped out of High School at 15.
I make 77k a year in retail management.
I'm thinking of going back to University, or doing it online though, because I hate my job and my life and I want a comfy office job.
But all I never see are people saying they can't find jobs even though they have degrees.
What the fuck am I meant to do. I hate my job so fucking much that I unironically day dream about suicide while there.
I heard this from a friend who went to art school. He said actual mechanics/techniques are something you're already supposed to know and that it's largely about theory. He switched to a technical school for photography...and said it was almost exactly the same.
It's shit. I really am at loss what to do afterwards. My parents want me to do a masters in something right after I graduate but it all sounds rather unappealing...
Maybe I should've believed in myself more and tried to do something science related like I thought about at school, but meh, who knows how that would've turned out.
>fizzbuzz
oh shit that's definitely getting me hired
