That's insane the reason it's so public in the United States is statistically of all crime sex offenders have the highest chance of committing the crime again. They used to be anonymous I believe until the last 30 years because people were tired of getting raped a week after a rapist or sex offender got out of jail. putting one in your neighborhood is the equivalent of putting a rabid dog at your neighborhood.
