Do you anons watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure? It's the only anime I can stand to watch and it's fucking awesome.

Same here, anime is dogshit made for retarded people but Jojo is cool
Jojo inspired me to improve my life.
Yeah, I have rewatched things like Dragon Ball and Pokemon and they all seem completely fucking retarded but JoJo is the only anime that feels like it's worth watching and made great. Probably because it's kinda like a parody and so it doesn't take itself too seriously. Anime that take themselves seriously are just fucking pretentious.
I stopped watching part four for some reason, probably because I had already read the manga, but I'm enjoying part five's anime so far despite not really being able to get into the manga. I also just finished reading Stone Ocean.
I don't think you can spoiler on r9k, so, spoilers. Did anybody else cry when Foo Fighters died? For some reason that was the one death that really got to me the most. Also, I think I get how Pucci's Made in Heaven works, but how is the result of its ability considered "Heaven"? I don't understand.
I didn't cry but I was sad. Foo Fighters was my favorite Part 6 character. The entire concept behind Foo Fighters was excellent, I'm saddened she left but at least he had her own soul.
The world that Pucci created was Heaven to him. I don't know if you noticed but he was very guilty over killing his sister so creating a world where everyone knows their fate beforehand is kind of a way for him to cope, as well as making people never having to worry about tomorrow.
I don't even like Foo Fighters, but that death scene was so sad, maybe it was the atmosphere
ricebot
you're my platonic friend
the only thing I want is you eating garlic outta my pussy
I was into the manga 11-12 years ago. no one cared about it back then. a few people did but there was no huge fandom like now. they were just stragglers here and there. it's a weird feeling, like my little world had been invaded. I don't really care about the anime but I watched it on twitch for the chat bullshit. I know the story by heart so it's just boring and feels like not muh jojo.
Its okay but people that like it are so annoying that I get annoyed whenever I see it
Thanks, I appreciate the offer but no.

I like my anime but Jojo definitely stands out compared to other shonen.
Part 5 is my 2nd favourite part but im waiting for the anime to finish before I watch it
Part 7 is my favourite, gonna be a long ass time before an anime of that happens though
I'm sorry, we can still be friends! :) And yes, I've tried rice with Garlic and I enjoyed it quite a lot!
>anime is dogshit made for retarded people
Then, logically, so is everything else.
>Anime that take themselves seriously are just fucking pretentious.
Same applies to everything else then.
>Part 5 is my 2nd favourite part but im waiting for the anime to finish before I watch it
>Part 7 is my favourite, gonna be a long ass time before an anime of that happens though
That's weird. I read the first mangas of Part 5 and I really enjoyed it, the Italian gang and the stories of Italy were really enjoyable for me but Part 7 was really boring lol. I don't see the fun in it at all. It doesn't even sound like the Jojo I know because it's all about horses and things I had never seen on Jojo.
Well Araki was really going in a different direction with part 7, so I can see how itd be jarring
But the whole steel ball run race plus Johnny and Gyros friendship and interactions made it really special for me
garbage, looks faggy as fuck. I got cucked by a neckbeard numale who likes this shit. I will forever hate it.
No. It doesn't apply to everything because the medium of anime itself is harder to take seriously rather than, say traditional movies. I still don't even see the point in there being animation for something serious/non-comedic. Cartoon has always made more sense because it's a parody and it's peasant and funny to look at and it serves its purpose well. It's a bunch of drawings that can express well what the animator wants and there's much creative freedom, but anime tries to make serious something that is inherently goofy. It tries to make itself serious when the medium of animation has the purpose of being funny and comedic. I find it very hard to take any anime at all seriously. What JoJo does, is make a parody of itself, not take itself too seriously and not make even too much sense of itself. It does what animation should do, that is, be a new medium by which there is ton of creative freedom, hence Hirohiko takes advantage of this and makes colorful and creative changes and innovations in every new part, while every other anime seems so stale in comparison. Every anime Ive seen is a fucking joke
I've seen two older OVA and the first series of the new airings. For the longest time I thought the protagonists were the most macho bunch I ever saw, but then I saw Cobra and suddenly Jotaro & Crew seemed like a group of boy scouts in comparison.
>It tries to make itself serious when the medium of animation has the purpose of being funny and comedic
That's not the purpose of animation, that's the purpose of American animation. It's not anime's fault that American culture has taught you to not take anything animated seriously.
Nah, most animes aren't serious. And it's actually hard to see any serious message come from anime. Most of them are filled with bullshit. Nothing can compare to a "Seventh Seal" by Ingmar Bergman, for example. Even what you say is retarded because in the beginning even Japanese animation was wholly comedic and "serious" movies were live instead of animated like those of Akira Kurosawa.
In anime usually is some stupid shit like "This girl is over 2000 years old and it's serious because she's sadistic and kills people and there's gore. Wow, so deep!" At least cartoon doesn't take that bullshit seriously.
It seems like the problem you're having is that you're watching bad anime
Theres plenty of actually serious, realistic anime that dont substitute violence for maturity
And theres plenty that aren't very realistic, but still tell serious stories with compelling characters that aren't little girls
>jojo is for fags
>trannies run around here predominantly
Jojo is trash for the low common denominator. Fag.
There are a huge number of serious anime, and your American preconceptions about animation don't make them not serious.
>Most of them are filled with bullshit. Nothing can compare to a "Seventh Seal" by Ingmar Bergman, for example.
And how many live action movies and television shows are on that level? Is Big Bang Theory the Seventh Seal of television?
>Even what you say is retarded because in the beginning even Japanese animation was wholly comedic and "serious" movies were live instead of animated like those of Akira Kurosawa.
Astro Boy was the first proper anime. It opens with a car accident killing a boy. His father rebuilds him as a robot, and eventually abandons him after realizing he can never grow older and thus never replace his son. This is a scene from 1968 baseball drama:

At best you could say the melodrama makes it unintentionally funny, but it's not a comedy.
>In anime usually is some stupid shit like "This girl is over 2000 years old and it's serious because she's sadistic and kills people and there's gore. Wow, so deep!"
Yeah except it's nothing like that. You're basing this on some vague things you've heard.
>how is the result of its ability considered "Heaven"?
I'm pretty sure Pucci could allow some people to be born or not and with that he could theoretically make a world to his liking.
>defending shit anime
Lol. What a fucking faggot. Even fucking Astroboy is shit because anime like these usually are just cartoons for kids and have to insert "Muh tragedy" to make it look like it has anything serious in it but usually it's just shitty melodrama for the beginning of the series. It's like Yu Yu Hakusho where there is actual family tragedy in the beginning but it doesn't actually mean anything. The series is retarded as fuck and is just a cheap way to add drama at the beginning.
>doesnt actually mean anything
>is the catalyst for the whole story and starts his relationships with many characters and affects how the protag views those around him upon seeing their reactions to his death and sudden revival
It sounds like you just have trouble paying attention man

Astro Boy is from 1963. It was the first anime. But even then it was much less cartoonish than what was being made in America. Being made for children doesn't make something bad (Spirited Away is a children's movie and won a Golden Bear).
The fact that American culture has programmed you to think that animation has to be a certain way doesn't mean anything. America does not have a monopoly on animation, and their failure to take the medium seriously has no bearing on anime. It's normal for anime to be serious and it has nothing to do with just making things look a certain way.
>watches dogshit
>ironically things nice shit is dogshit
Bet you're the same faggot that makes the le normalfaggot animus threads over and over.
>ironically things nice shit is dogshit
jesus, you people need to stop watching anime
Jojo is kino you avatarfaggot
lol, my problem with anime is not only that it doesn't make use of the medium like cartoonists do. Using as much creative freedom as the medium allows, but that it also simply is not good. Anime doesn't have as much of a good direction as movies and even series do. Sorry to say, user, but that's genuinely how I feel.
Avataring requires more than one post.
Anime uses the medium in every possible way, and in far more ways than American animation does.

Anime has better cinematography than many movies, and largely better cinematography than live action TV shows.
>Sorry to say, user, but that's genuinely how I feel.
Based on nothing more than vague impressions based on things you've heard.
>but how is the result of its ability considered "Heaven"
I too recently finished Stone Ocean, and while I can't say I have a real answer by the way you can spoiler on here I think it was something about subsoncious knowledge of the future allowing people to more easily accept their fate, I dunno.
I like JJBA but the anime is really overrated, even the manga is a little overrated but it's very unique which is a bonus given that most battle shounen since the 90s are all the same shit.
I'm liking Part 5 so far, wasn't that big on it when I read it but it's adaptation is alright so far. Early days though so let's see how it holds up. Part 3's adaptation was pretty shit apart from the final fight and apart from the voice acting it wasn't better than the Part 3 OVA final fight.
I liked JoJo until all the normie redditfags ruined it. Haven't touched the franchise since 2016.
>I liked something until other people also liked it
How can people like you even exist. I dont understand at all
>Muh samurai being high
>Japanese "comedy"
Holy shit, you're really pathetic lol
How do I get into Jojos anons? I mean do I start watching the anime, read the manga or other medium and which of those brings more enjoyment?
Moving the goalposts. We were talking about using the medium, not whether you think that scene is funny. I think you might be actually retarded.
Depends on your personal taste really user, some people like reading manga more than anime
If you've done both just choose what you prefer, and the JoJo manga can be read in full colour too if the black and white style of most manga is usually a deal breaker for you
Well ya see, when normies do nothing but make reddit tier memes and never shut the fuck up about how much of a masterpiece something is that you happen to like, you kinda lose interest.
>Not addressing the issue that anime is retarded
Kek. Even if anime made use of the medium, if it's all show and no substance, then it's fucking useless. You just gave me a shitty example of how, even if there were something of value in this animated medium, there's absolutely no substance whatever. Holy shit, you just proved my point that anime is shit lol.
Congrats, retard.
Read the manga first and then watch the anime since it does at times cut out some stuff/changes the order of some things. The adaptation is good but it doesn't have sufficient budget to be really good, what it lacks in actual animation it makes up for in great voice acting and visual direction. The manga is much more of a unique ride, some of it might feel a little dated by today's standards but it's still miles better than the average battle shounen that came after it (but it isn't quite as good as the stuff that came before or during it).
I feel the same but I haven't dropped it since i'm currently enjoying Jojolion and I will always love Araki's artstyle. The fanbase is placing it on a pedestal much higher than it deserves, the plot inconsitency is laughably bad and it's carried entirely by amazing character designs, when I look back at the series of the whole it's like im imagining a series of wiki articles on characters rather than one flowing story, or even a episodic story, because of how often the pace/tone and characters abilities change at random.
And of course after JoJolion started Araki realised "Oh shit, I made the protagonists stand way too powerful.Better just nerf it by having him not use any of those powerful capabilities again"
Why are you responding to bait. user?
I think the point user is trying to make is why are you first of all even paying attention to the memeing fagets and secondly why are you letting those retards ruin something you enjoyed. It's easy to ignore them and still enjoy the series.
You moved the goalposts, and there is no such "issue" that needs addressing. Anime isn't retarded.
>Even if anime made use of the medium, if it's all show and no substance, then it's fucking useless.
It isn't all show and no substance.
>You just gave me a shitty example of how, even if there were something of value in this animated medium, there's absolutely no substance whatever.
Moving the goalposts once again. But yeah, I guess anime just couldn't possibly compete against the amazing substance of American television:

>Holy shit, you just proved my point that anime is shit lol.
Your point is wrong and you're a retard.
I'm not. Why are you damage controlling someone by pretending he's baiting?
That's what I like about it. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It doesn't need a consistent story or one without potholes. Fuck that. It's filled with potholes but who fucking cares, it's a fucking Japanese cartoon and the presentation/characters are all that matters. I've never seen once an anime character that had a tragic backstory that wasn't laughable or believable only to children with no critical sense. What matters is the looks, funny personality, scenery etc. Everything else is fucking meaningless. It's supposed to be funny, not serious. The plot itself is so fucking crazy to the point of being ludicrous so it doesn't even matter lol.
I have already explained to you that you are wrong. There is a lot of serious anime and there is no reason why anime can't take itself seriously. Your American preconceptions are irrelevant.
I'm not even american lol. You look like one of those fags that think that the entirety of the West is just the USA. Plus, you haven't mentioned any good serious anime. Back your facts up faggot.
>normals do something
>x thing is OVER
Stop breathing.
I dropped it after one episode because it was fucking retarded.
If you aren't American then why are you parroting American ideas so hard?
>Plus, you haven't mentioned any good serious anime.
And why would I? You would just move the goalposts again or come up with some excuse as to why they don't count, all without knowing anything about the anime in question.
wrong post, dumbass

The artstyle of the first 3 parts is disgusting on the technical level, fuck that watch anime and read from part 4
I love how Pucci and Funny Valentine can be the good guys depending on how you look at it, especially Pucci.
I don't remember much from stone ocean, but
>Funny Valentine
>good guy
in jojolion araki is rather clear that using the corpse to reflect your "bad luck" on random strangers rather then shouldering it yourself is an immoral act, it backfires on johnny but he redeems himself through self sacrifice
thinking valentine is good is what happens when you replace your moral compass with pol-tier edginess
Of course he's a bad guy, and Valentine knew he was doing a bad thing, but he was doing it because he wanted to make his country better. Johnny collected the corpse parts cause he just wanted to walk again, which if you asked a random person (who has no idea what jojo is) to say who they think had a better reason for collecting the corpse parts they'd likely say Valentine.
Post some good anime lol.
These requests are always a trap and I won't fall for it.
The reason why that part was good though is not moral ambiguity, but rather the symbolism. Johnny assembling parts of a body to walk again vs valentine wanting to opportunistically cheat life and embracing some form of radical nationalism. Basically individualism and spiritual growth of a person set against atheistic collectivism.
