Becoming rich is mostly a mixture of almost perfect parenting, high work drive and being born in the correct family. Zuckerberg would be probably "just" an well payed system admin if it weren't for his fathers connections, because sites like Facebook weren't something new even in 2006.

almost everyone in tech in the US makes enough money to buy a big house, a few nice cars, raise a big family, etc. and almost everyone got there knowing absolutely nobody. they learned online or at a small college, went to an interview and started working in an office by themselves or with a small team they barely talk to.
doctors and lawyers got there independently too. sometimes mentors help but if you're bright you wouldn't need them.
most small business owners have a cofounder but only one person is making the real decisions.
these people might not be "rich" but you wouldn't know the difference. networking is a meme designed by and for salespeople. all you have to do to get a fuckload of job offers is to show you're good at a job. that's different in places like Russia or South America, but nobody there actually works anyway.

My goal is not becoming rich per se just wealthy enough that I don't have to work to sustain a spartan lifestyle. I have not given up on that yet.
If you mean becoming Bezos tier rich then I gave up at 20 after realizing a couple of things
