/SIG/ Self Improvement General

*Instructions: If you complete all tasks in a tier then you can move to a higher level. The higher your Tier, the greater quality of life you will have. Do not try to start at the higher level Tiers, start at the position you are currently in and progress from there. (A Tier 1 should not jump to completing the tasks in Tier 5 for instance.)

“Never give up on a dream just because
of the time it will take to accomplish it.
The time will pass anyway.”

Tier 0 (Bent but not Broken)

Sleep: Minimum 4 hours, Maximum 12 hours.
Hygiene: Shower, Soap not required.
Meditation: Calm your chaotic mind and focus on breathing for 1 minute.
Exercise: 1 Push Up, 1 Squat

Tier 1 (Climbing from Hell)

Sleep: Minimum 5 hours, Maximum 11 hours.
Hygiene: Shower with soap, Brush Teeth (flossing not required).
Meditation: Calm your chaotic mind and focus on breathing for 5 minutes.
Exercise: 3 Push Ups, 3 Squats
Calories: Maximum 3,500.
Write: One sentence in a journal (either digital or physical). Write a sentence about anything.

Tier 2 (You Purchase a Token)

Sleep: Minimum 6 hours, Maximum 9 hours.
Hygiene: Shower with Shampoo, Conditioner and body soap. Actually scrub the body clean. Brush Teeth twice (flossing not required).
Meditation: Calm your chaotic mind and focus on breathing for 15 minutes.
Exercise: 5 Push Ups, 5 Squats.
Calories: Maximum 3,000
Write: One paragraph in a journal (either digital or physical). Write a paragraph about anything.

Tier 3 (To Ring a Bell)

Sleep: Minimum 7 hours, Maximum 9 hours.
Hygiene: Shower with Shampoo, Conditioner, body soap/scrub. Brush teeth twice, floss once.
Meditation: Calm your chaotic mind and focus on breathing for 25 minutes.

Tier 4 (Off in the Distance)

Sleep: 8 hours (feel your body, does it need a little more? A little less? Don't lie)
Hygiene: Shower with Shampoo, Conditioner, body soap/scrub. Brush teeth three times, floss once.
Meditation: Calm your chaotic mind and focus on breathing for 30 minutes.
Exercise: Once you can do 10 full Push Ups and 10 Squats, (don't lie), you are ready to move to a normal exercise regime. There are many to choose from. You will find more examples on Jow Forums.
Calories: 2000 maximum. Get to a healthy weight.
Write: Half a page in a physical journal. (No typing allowed). Focus on handwriting improvements.
Read: One chapter from any book.
Socialize: Say “Hi” to at least one person.

Tier 5 (The People Sing)

At this point Sleep, Hygiene, Meditation, Exercise and diet all remain the same as in Tier 4. You will be making slow progress, and are in the top 90th percentile of humans.
Write: You are now writing a page or more per day. Your handwriting is becoming easier to read and beautiful.
Draw: Learn how to draw. (This is essential. In the past every professional could do simple sketches of everyday objects. It's an artform that has been forgotten but is still useful.)
Read: Tier 5 members read a book every week to 2 weeks depending on its complexity.
Socialize: You MUST socialize in a “normal” way. That means introducing yourself and being accepted into another person's social sphere. There are opportunities to do this. You can join a group, or go to a social place. But it must be done. If you do not socialize you will never make it.

Attached: 2.jpg (1763x2034, 952K)

Tier 6 (They Roar with Acceptance)

You wake up each day renewed. Your home is organized, your body and muscles as well reflect that organization. You are a member of many groups and have many friends. Pushing yourself, you converse with subject matter experts regularly about ideas you have come across. People like talking to you, and being with you. Everything seems to be aligned in your favor, however this isn't luck but rather through proper preparation. Your mind is calm nearly always, and you have a keen eye.

Tier 7 (You Are Our King!)

You are now in the top 99.99% of human beings. You not only assist with local community matters but also with national strategy. You have many children, and each child is on a trajectory to become as successful as you. You have invented technology or philosophy that fundamentally changes the way people live for the better. Everything you consume and provide is done so with purpose. You are fully prepared to die at any moment because you have fulfilled your righteous potential.

Let's get a self-improvement thread going, Jow Forums. Things that improve your fitness in life.

First, if you have the chance, charge your phone. Worried about saving power? The coal is going to burn anyways, so don't feel guilty. Doing this will eliminate the worry for having enough battery left for that one emergency phone call, as well as make you the hero when everyone else's phone in the elevator is dead.

Wash your face. Morning, night, middle of the day, too. It'll keep you awake and aid the reduction of acne.

If you're working, wear shoes. If you're not working, don't wear shoes. Don't wear shoes in bed. Do not work while not wearing shoes of some sort. Your brain will, and probably already has thanks to school, an association between the pressure on your feet and being awake and thinking harder. This association is a good one. Don't fight it.

Stop the porn. Erectile dysfunction is incredibly prevalent among the younger generation because they are not jerking off to a physical object but a computer screen. You will also find it messes with your lifts, making one arm stronger or weaker than the other, and can cause weakness and stiffness.

Know how to fight. Know how to avoid fights. It is important to learn both because sometimes your opponent just won't bug off. The classic one-two punch exists for a reason: it works. Throw one to the stomach to force them to lower their arms down (a reflex they probably won't be able to control) and then sock them across the jaw. Otherwise, study a martial art-but not karate or tai kwon do or anything that focuses on one opponent. Find something that works well on the ground (wrestling, bjj) and combine it with something that will allow you to deal with multiple opponents at once, like silat. Chances are you won't be fighting just one person in a combat situation, so be prepared for more.

Eat big. Get big. CMON

I'll contribute to your thread OP, I'm working on learning the piano and also how to fight better. Recently hit 1/2/3/4 so my New Year's resolution is already complete. Any ideas on what else I can be working on. (Already am in school + working a great job)

Attached: 1544087391608.jpg (1502x427, 122K)

Why are you in school if you are working at your preferred career? Do you have higher ambitions?

I'm gonna have my loan paid off before September, then I'll be able to start saving for a house deposit.

Honestly lads what's the point?

>dead end job at a call centre
>no gf
>skinny
>no degree
>having second thoughts about joining military as infantry after the interview

It's all so tiring, thing is it will never get better.. Early 20s and that's it, all done pack it up boys

Good lad. Avoid debt, and save until it hurts. Any elderly person will give you the same advice.

What motivated you to join the military?

Probably between tier 3 and 4.
Good lucks guys, we're gonna make it.

Attached: 1540072234797.jpg (248x204, 12K)

I thought it was what I wanted..

But after going to the interview the real extend of it has set in

Remember my friends, one of the most important things you can do to improve yourself is to accept Christ into your heart. He will always watch over you, guiding you and giving you strength during your darkest hour.

Attached: 1547441337338.jpg (2000x1485, 1.83M)

Well it's a job within my field of interest that will set me up with more opportunities once I get my bachelors. It pays great and provides nice benefits so I honestly can't complain. I'm really just happy it's in my field so I can hopefully avoid the "You have a degree but no relevant experience so F you."

Never should have taken the fucking loan in the first place but nobody was really giving me good advice back then, not that I would have listened. Lesson learned, I'm gonna live like a pauper this year and hopefully instill some frugal habits while all my money is going towards the debt.

Tier 5 is where it starts getting real tough. Especially for those with social anxiety issues.

Being a member of the military is the complete absolution of your individuality for the betterment of your society. If you do not love your society, you're gonna have a bad time.

I'm a 20yo in the Marines right now as a 2841, don't fall for the infantry meme.

Can it be a metaphorical Christ? Can't stand churches.

Based Christposter

Wow, that's excellent that you've found your place as far as income is concerned.

I find comfort in knowing that my ancestors are watching, guiding, and protecting me as I move forward to my fate. Finding your "Christ" in life is so underrated these days/

Faith requires faith, but yes, start with small steps. Don't just follow for the sake of following, build your relationship up, inquire Christ for the truth

There is no metaphorical Christ. Christ isn't a metaphor, he is at least an ideal to be followed and pursued. But he is truly a savior. Read the Gospel of John and check back on /sig/. There is nothing that can change your life in as positive a way.

Attached: you are going to make it anon.jpg (1024x694, 85K)

Read Nietzsche guys. He changed my life drastically. Power of the will, Philosophizing with a hammer , Beyond good and Evil. The will to Power. Read these books and your life will change.

Attached: 1547139599377.jpg (1919x2404, 1.16M)

I agree. He was a truly magnificent person.

You don't have to go into the physical building that is a church to be a Christian or follow the doctrine.

Religion =/= organized/institutionalized religion

Buy a Bible, read it, watch commentary on it, and you're good to go.

This is false. Baptism and Holy Communion among other things are part of practicing the faith. If you believe what you read, and follow it is not the same as picking and choosing which bits "appeal to you" once you find a church you fit in well with, you will enjoy being a part of the community and the support you get from your brothers and sisters. It is also the best place to find a wife for ultimate life gains.

Thanks OP, good post. This thread really speaks to me. I am also on this path of self improvement.

Things I have been working on
>Began growing a vegetable garden. I spend a few minutes every day checking on it and watering if need be. It helps me feel a little more connected to nature, is calming and hopefully it will pay off with some food in the end.
>Quit drinking. I feel like it's not worth it anymore, my body doesn't handle it as well as I could in the first 10 years of drinking. It was great for social occasions and as a way to enhance other activities, but I don't feel I need it anymore.
>Trying to get a job in my chosen field, it's tough, it's a grind but I will make it, eventually..
>Cutting my hair regularly, keeping it styled. The challenge is to learn to cut my own hair well without entereing "just fuck my shit up" territory.
>Drop that last 10kg. I already went from 108kg to 75kg, but went up to 80kg through negligence over 1 year.
>After this I want to gain 10kg of muscle.
>Trying to learn from others and teach myself how to service my car.
I want to be a respectable man before I hit 30, I think the way to do this is by becoming self sufficient to a degree, with a wide range of skills that can benefit my friends and family.

Thanks for reading my blog post.

You're gonna make it. We support you.

>cope

>Talking about Nietzsche and posting this image in the same post.

Which of those should I start with?

Attached: 5.jpg (1600x900, 114K)

lol you faggot, have you even read Nietzsche? This image is the epitome of Nietzsche's philosophy

No this image is just the epitome of reddit tier faggotery.

The will to Power def. Especially the second part its just magnificent. You'll get goosebumps just reading it. Its a quite difficult book tho

>a fagg
>calls other people faggots
the irony

is tai chi a meme? does it actually have proven benefits or is it just a spiritual thing?

If you read Nietzsche and came away thinking that image is what he was about, then you missed everything. Time to start over.

It is both, similar to yoga in that way. For fitness it is a total meme.

>he didnt get it

retard

Attached: 1525474350784.jpg (522x798, 138K)

Anyone here knows anything about running shoes for flat footed people? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for and the guys at the sports store also have no idea.

>Kike cross
>rune flag

Based and faithpilled
In awe to the knewledge of this boi

Lol

You are a larper who doesn't understand Nietzsche.

What's with these militant atheists LARPing as pagans lately?

Like they delude themselves to be pagans out of spite and nothing more, but don't even know actual rites and practices and don't give a shit.

>tfw broke my nofap to a sims 4 character

Attached: 1547425859908.png (1200x800, 690K)

Keep seething

Attached: pagang.jpg (1280x853, 297K)

Happens more than I'd like to accept...

By the way, what is /sig/ opinion on digital journaling? I only spend 10 minutes a day with my journal (before going to bed) and write on my computer because it is much faster. Is this ok?

lol you faggots can't even grasp Nietzsche's philosophy.

>started cold approaching to smash shyness lats week
>all rejections except for one girl
>she was actually making an effort to talk back and happily gave her fb account
>talked to her later in the day and set up a date
>now sent "sorry bund my grandpa dies, we have to call it off"
What the fuck. I get she probably dodged me because what are the fucking chances this would happen right now?
But one the other hand she could just say she has to study or felt sick.
Should I check back in a week or so?

Attached: nyymin_kohellukset.jpg (989x1125, 316K)

Ah yes, the famous Nitczhean thought of "what ever the fuck you imagined it to be in your head to justify your rush for what ever lol".

Keep reading, rereading too.

its not was he was about but ultimately this is the outcome. Look faggot i study Nietzsche since i was 16, (23 yo now), i know pretty damn well what he was talking about. I say, again, this image pictures for the most part Nietzsche's philosophy

stop making conclusions out of one image you stupid faggot

yes, user send a message, not about the date but how is she

he's not wrong
whore aren't worth it

Where did you get the poem in the OP parenthesis?

I can't find it on Google, and it has a lot of resonance.

If you want the full experience you have to do handwritten. But digital is better than nothing.

Follow up in a few days, "how are you holding up?"

not him but why? I use a fully encrypted file on an airgapped machine via QubesOS on my laptop, it's completely secure so i can be fully honest and open with it, if I did it in a notepad someone finding it or something would always be a concern, why is physical better?

I made it up.

Physical activates more parts of your brain. Might be meme science idk. If it being secure is a bigger issue then by all means stay with the lappy.

Anons, how do you mentally stop feeling sorry for yourself? I'm stuck in an Jow Forums mindset where I feel that genetics determine everything and my parents cursed me with mediocre looks and a mediocre brain incapable of achieving greatness. How do you rewire your own brain against its will?

Attached: 31404155_1891391824486005_2359757381493063680_n.png (444x296, 164K)

Determinists will never EVER make it. Guaranteed. You have to believe you can change.

>Have chronic backpain
>Be 25
>Triggered originally from doing rows
>Has faded and sparked up randomly for a year or so
>Think it has to do with absolutely garbage posture and sitting for hours at work

How to start improving posture? Does posture adjusting gear work?

Likewise, should I visit a rheumatologist to see if it's AS? I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or not. Doctor pretty much said "You're fine, do these exercises."

I've been taking bath in cold water for about a month now and it's possible the best jump start for the day. I seriously recommend it if you guys are thinking of doing it too. It's never easy to feel the cold water rush down your body but later on you won't regret it.

>Shower with Shampoo, Conditioner and body soap.
If you use shampoo and conditioner more than once per week you'll ruin your hair.

>stop going on Jow Forums
>stop going on Jow Forums
>start exercising
>get a good skincare routine
>shower daily
>go outside and socialize more
>get a better diet
>dress better
>get better haircut

this got me out of that mindset, went from 3/10 to 7/10, genetics can cause a disadvantage but you can always look and be better than you currently are, you have a lot of control

Yoga. Gotta build those stabilizing muscles.

>Have an older brother who never moved out of the home
>He's almost 33 now
>He's very overweight. Think 5'8'' and 280lbs
>Isn't taking care of himself hygienically
>Lives in a neet cave
>Dresses like an autist
>Has laughably shit daily schedule
>Was previously also a heroin addict
Advice on how to help someone? He's not the brightest guy, and it seems like everyone is trying to push him into the deep end before he can swim. (Getting a job, moving out, meeting people, whatever.)

>user-Bro, get a fucking job. You can get a job, I have a job!
>user-bro is 33, hasn't showered in 2 days, looks like he's homeless, and hasn't worked a job in 10 years. He probably goes months without talking to someone he's not related to.

Sounds more mental than anything. If he grew up in a home with supportive parents and no abuse then he shouldn't be like that.

What exercises do you do? My backs been fucked more than usual from the gym lately

He didn't actually have many problems until the unemployment set in. He graduated in a useless field in 2008ish and never found a job. A few months became a year, a year became 2, etc. A back injury there, a shoulder injury there, boredom in general.

OHP, BP, Deadlift, Squats, Rows, Pull ups. Squats and rows seem to give me issues.

You’re young, you don’t have to be stuck on one path for the rest of your life. If American, get an associate’s degree before military so you go in as something other than another grunt

Feeling good lads, life is going pretty swell:
Graduate law school back in May, pass state Bar Exam, work a decent gig until tomorrow and Tuesday I start my first big boy job.
Gf also a yuppie, we’ll be living that DINK life, with two based pups.
Cut was going pretty well till I went off the rails the last two nights, but today I’m motivated and gonna get back on track.
I’ve got a goal to read 25 books this year and I’m almost done with the 2nd.
Lifts are decent despite my under equipped apartment gym.
Still, I know I can do better, and that’s my mindset every day.
I still deal with a bit of impostor syndrome and General sadness despite my great life, but life is always a struggle and never supposed to be easy.
We’re all gonna make it, and I’ll monitor this thread to provide any advice I can give.
You got this Bros

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuroplasticity

You are able to do whatever you want. I know it fucking sounds cliché, but it's true. You think you are dumb? Practice maths till you shit equations and you'll be better than the regular college student.

You think you can't dance? Practice till your feet bleed. You think you cant draw? Draw 1000 shitty pictures and the next one will be a masterpiece.

Basically, we can make anything with enough willpower. And also if you are concerned with your looks, you can also fix that. If you are short, you still can exercise and have an attractive body. Good posture and self confidence will make you as tall as you want to be. If you think you are ugly, get a haircut that suits you, a skincare routine, shower daily and learn to dress better.

No matter how bad are your genetics, being clean and well dressed will always give at least 2 points more. So if you're a 5:

5/10 - - > 7/10 + self confidence = getting a nice 10/10 life

>26
>neet after high school
>only worked illigal jobs
>most jobs require degrees and or experience
>other simple jobs such a casheir or bartender require you to be either female, good looking or have good social skills
>there is a big hole in my resume
Is there a realistic way to get out of this?
>inb4 warehouse
in my country they ask for experience in this job

Keep working crappy jobs and go to school part time, idk what country you’re in but maybe learn a trade.
Also bartender doesn’t require you to be female unless you’re one who simply cracks open beers. Most of the ones I’ve seen that make good cocktails and know their stuff are men (albeit slightly soi men with beards or twirly moustaches, but still)

>finally a 6hr workday after 4 10hr days in a row
>Finally time to go to the gym
>The girl I asked out said yes, so the one day of the week I don't work all day I can't go to the gym because of our date
GAINS GOBLINS

Nice to see a screenshot of my post posted.
To be more precise, I wasn't talking about pursuing decent women, who do exist. I'm in a relationship myself. I was talking about the retarded hook-up tinder culture, where people invest countless hours thinking that just putting their penis in some thot is gonna fix their lives and make them happy.

>Tier 4
>Brush teeth three times

Guys...what the fuck.

You couldn’t go to the gym before work or right after for a pre-date pump?

You're right. I was making excuses. I'm going to go now and try to fit it in before work

Good on you, even if you just go for a run or do a few compound sets or even just ISOs, I’m sure it’ll make a difference in how you feel, if not how you look

After every meal.

Hey nice blog post. You're making it, I hope to soon join you

>2000 cal
I'm bulking god dammit, am I supposed to remain twink mode forever?

>Tier 4
>eating 3 meals a day
seems counter intuitive

>soap/scrub
Rarely needed
>meditation
Time better spent on some beginner's yoga like sun salutations or practicing a hobby that you enjoy
>exercise
If you're that out of shape, you'd be better off committing to a full bodyweight routine for a while and doing a bit of cardio in between
>draw
Gay

Good luck on your date!
Tell us how it goes!

I was in the same situation, ended up studying chemistry because I really needed a degree. I'll be a proper boomer when I graduate but at least there's a chance to land a job.

pornography has become a clutch for me to escape. i have some really bad shit goin on right now so i am stressed 24/7. its the only time i dont feel pressured. what can i do?

Attached: Venom_image.jpg (550x550, 92K)

Reduce it over time instead of quitting cold turkey and find hobbies to occupy you as well
Depends what you're into
pursue the skills you've always wanted to pursue

So I was a lazy retard in highschool and chose the wrong subjects and it's biting me in the ass now. Need to clear away a math and physics deficiency to get into civil engineering. Any resources you guys can recommend? I already found "Organic Chemistry Tutor" on youtube and have been blasting through algebra. Actually understanding it for the first time instead of simply going through the motions.

at least you tried. I admire your courage
