I enjoyed the hell out of WoW from release to around the end of Wrath of the Lich King.

PvP'd hardcore, got gladiator in 3s once. Raided hardcore, we got a few server firsts.

500 of those 700 days came from that time frame.

Guild shrunk to about 20 people in Cata, didn't bother finding a new one. I was way too attached to the friends I made.

Cut to WoD, maybe 8 people were logging in. Cut again to Legion, two of those guys died and now the GM is dying of colon cancer. In BFA it's basically just me logging in to do the "chores" (world quests, auction house, leveling up alts).

Its about as fun as tending to a garden at this point, but I don't regret the early years at all. Staying subscribed beyond that was a pretty big waste I have to admit.
