Trying to get my life in the right track. Going back to Community college for computer programming so I don't end up working at my current job for the rest of my life. They always made it seem like it'd be easy, but I still couldn't figure it out after my second year of college in 2013.
What are you doing with yourself these days, robots?
28 here. Career isn't a high paying one but it's good enough to live a meager life. Lost 50 lbs this year, trying to lose another 50 so I can stop being repulsed by myself in the mirror. Still forever alone, not a virgin but might as well be.
Drinking a mochachino. Just put on a load of washing. No plans for the future, and no friends.
t. 25 year old chronic NEET
Gavin Lopez
When did you start your career? I'm 26 and I live with my dad. I'm doing my best to get on my feet but so far I just have an associates in law enforcement ,but I'd rather do computer/mobile programming and about 9 years of work experience.
Samuel Morales
25, got a BA degree though.
Benjamin Jenkins
>tfw so far out of society that it feels like there is no feasible way back >starting to feel out of place in the reject bin chans
29. Started college round 2. Still fucking hard. Chronic pain from a work injury, crippling anxiety and depression fuck me up even though I want to ascend it. Bad stomach pain had me in the hospital yesterday. I am going to keep going through it though and I hope that one day it gets better.
Yeah I feel you. Most of the rejects that used Jow Forums are now in their late 20's and have a career and a family. But here I am at 27, still a NEET after a decade. Don't think there's a way for me to go back into the real world with no work experience at 27.
Same thing I always do, shitpost, videogames, watching shit
Gavin Parker
Even moot left us. I will never be in a relationship. It's impossible to make friends at this age. And my hands are going to shit, so there's no way I can salvage it with the hint of employability I have.
This is what I'm doing right now as well. I tried to learn Python but was a little too stupid for it. Maybe I'll get it eventually.
Otherwise, I want to self-improve and become the sort of sex-having, gf-having normie as everyone else but man, they don't make it easy.
Anthony Howard
I've thought about becoming a mailman, I hear there's always a shortage and they basically hire anyone. Don't have to deal with people most of the time I think, just ride your bike and drop mail in mailboxes, seems easy enough
Ayden Evans
Hey robot, what didn't you understand with Python? I'm not a programmer but I didn't struggle with Python up until functional programming. Maybe I could offer some help?
Logan James
I'm pretty sure the reason there is a shortage now is because USPS picked up UPS's work. So, you'll be delivering packages.
Grayson Jackson
Don't you feel bitter about humanity? I don't trust anyone, not even my own family. What's the point...? And I also tried learning Python but my maths skills were too lacking.
Andrew Rodriguez
I was too much of a brainlet to figure out basic problem solving with it.
I want to get started on C++ already (yeah I know whatever).
Eli Bell
If you're having issues with Python then you're going to suffer with C++. You need to learn CS concepts using Python, because it's so user-friendly.
James Sullivan
>math >programming 101 Wut? Which book were you using and why was it the python version of SICP?
Isaiah Nelson
I had started learning Python on codeacademy then when it expected me to solve shit on my own, I had no idea what I was doing. I felt pretty stupid, not gonna lie.
Dylan Green
>gorgeous wife with good values; very happy relationship >decent job in accounting >no debt >living in a $1m property >low stress level Doing great! My biggest problem this very second is the weather is cold as fuck.
Nathan Moore
Almost 25. Will probably learn welding and HVAC. Buy a trailer home and a piece of land in a year. Since money isn't worth that much here in the U.S I'll probably travel to third world countries and spend it on poor latina qts. Getting pussy here is almost impossible now
Cameron Howard
I don't get your reference. Programming requires basic maths skills, and I dropped out of high school to pursue my dream of doing nothing all day, which I have luckily succeeded at. I wanted to learn programming to give back to the community that supports my lavish lifestyle, but found I could not keep up. But in all seriousness, this was a free online course.
Xavier Campbell
There's your problem. Don't learn programming from Codecademy, it's a fucking joke. Pick up a book on beginner Python where it breaks down examples and explains CS concepts using Python.
Jason Perez
I guess what I'm saying is the math that _most_ programming requires is basic. Basic as in arithmetic. I'm not trying to beat you up, I'm just genuinely confused. What did you get stuck on?
Angel Collins
So should I start with Python then? I've heard conflicting things. People have told me to just start with C# or C++. How do I even practice if I buy a book?
Samuel Brooks
26 years old. Finishing up final prep to move into my own apartment, out of my parents' house after 3 miserable years back in this hellhole. I'll even have the confidence to pursue a girlfriend, having a place to bring her back to. I've got a decent job that doesn't pay great but is a fantastic starting place to move up, I've got my Warhammer army that I'm cleaning and painting, and should be done by early next year. I've also got ambitions to earn a Master's/PhD in Byzantine studies some day, which could be very plausible. I've already been on a few Archaeological digs.
It's been a tough couple years, but I think things are finally looking up, bros.
Those people are probably Jow Forums, and you should probably ignore them. C++ is probably the last language a sane person would recommend a beginner to start with. It's a huge language that is full of foot-guns. C# wouldn't be as bad, but python is a good place to start, desu (and I personally hate python). >How do I even practice if I buy a book? Most books have exercises. That will help you with the logic of the language. Learning to organize your code in a larger project is something you'll have to pick up on your own as you go, though.
Juan Reyes
I'm 25 with a degree in Computer Science, but I hate what I am doing... I might go back for a PhD in CS or attempt to pivot careers entirely to Math or Physics, but all of this is a long road, time consuming and then I'll be really old. All of this is a gamble too because I could just end up doing boring shit anyways. Also, I'm a brainlet. Feels bad man. :( I ought to ascend to ultimate boomer form and just be content with now and not obsess about abandoning one road because something else 'seems' appealing because I am discontented. I just need to not be petty and have gratitude for what I have.
I waste too much time on the internet doing nothing productive, need to do nofap, addicted to caffeine, have a shitting routine, need to hit the gym. I am just too content and complacent, but I hate that.
Thomas Cooper
Any good books you recommend then? I REALLY want to get on it because I want to be good enough to direct my own videogames one day.
Noah Rivera
Basic if you finished high school, maybe. Is it even worth learning now?
Benjamin Clark
Go on MIT OCW, brah.
Jonathan Miller
Look, there are no real agreed upon right or wrong ways to learn programming. If you feel like you're not gaining anything then you move onto another method of study. Codecademy is a joke because it doesn't teach you anything and just throws you into the deep end while you just fill in the blanks without understanding shit.
Python is a really simple language (don't let this discourage or make you feel stupid), but there's so much disinformation out there that it's hard to know how to study programming.
For practice, just look up Project Euler (and clones of it) and start cracking out the solutions. Make sure you read the PDFs to problems that have them, because they explain the proper method instead of bruteforcing.
Brody Morris
What's it like having a good relation with your dad?
Mine was a piece of shit who didn't write me any letters after my mother divorced him. Then when I was a teenager he tried to reach out, but I didn't accept it and now I kind of don't care whether he is alive or dead.
Isaiah Fisher
I disagree with this. I had a lot of problems with python when I first was learning programming. I decided to learn C instead which is a lower level language, and after that things began to click and I started to understand how programming works. I learned Java next which isnt my favorite language but I think worth knowing an OOP language. Even now I still dislike python. I recognize how powerful it is but its a bit different than the typical language, I rather use brackets than forced indenting and iirc instead of for loops python has something like range. I recommend you give c++ a try user and see if it works better for you
Kayden Lewis
What a hell are you doing here, Norman?
Carter Lewis
31, is it wrong that my friends who are married with kids seem like cucked breeder animals to me? >gotta go pick up the kid from kindergarten, sorry to leave work early >taking time off today to go to my kids' school thanksgiving dinner >it was so amazing when i had kids >my wife / ex-wife did this that the other thing
jesus christ i think i really dodged a bullet
Christian Stewart
I literally learned algebra through vector calculus outside of highschool. The hardest part about it is was beating myself up for not getting something immediately. Just relax and work on it one thing at a time. Divide-and-conquer is literally life's magic bullet. Not really. My first language was C and the book was aimed at engineering students, so I can't help you there. I have recommendations for other CS topics, but not and intro to programming books.
Benjamin Sanchez
i'm 18 i waisted 2 years of my life by mooving to another contry and linving alone in my room not doing annything exept work.
Justin Stewart
There's no right or wrong way, it depends on the individual and how well they absorb certain languages and concepts. You struggled with it and moved to another language, which is acceptable. But telling someone to go learn C instead of Python is cruel.
Landon Reed
>What are you doing with yourself these days, robots? Just turned 29. It's horrible. I had to stop myself from killing myself. I didn't do it because I thought I'd survive the jump.
I'm tall, fit, nice face. Can't get any matches on Tinder. Can't get a girl in real life. The one 'friend' I have is fake and doesn't care about me. My job is shit, and I don't want to take out more student loans, even if I did have any interest in anything.
I've been thinking. I have some debt I'd like to pay off (school and medical.) the money I make is mediocre but I'm pretty frugal so it's been alright. However, I feel my rent is way too high. Including utilities I pay about 1500 a month for my own studio. Would it be crazy to sublease this place and swipe up some $600-800/month room in a shared house? 28 years old, single. tfw. That would allow me to bank a big chunk more dosh each month at least, pay this debt down. Only thing is I really fucking hate living with other people and am a light sleeper, so it's always been a hassle living with other people unless they were early risers and early to bed types. What do?
Liam James
1500 a month is fucking usury, get away from the coasts, at least move to texas or even florida
Angel Fisher
Is the 28 year old PhD fembot in Boston around?
Alexander Bennett
Since you can't Python I assume you don't know C either, so it is pretty strange you want to learn C++.
I've feeling pretty down. For many reasons (and being a slacker is one of them, but there are more) I've been very behind my school work (after getting back to college) and I'm behind as fuck. One week is not enough to prepare and I feel overwhelmed, it seems like even trying to study at this point would be a waste of time. The worst part is that I have many problems with their solutions, but it's all cryptic to me.
Grayson Cox
Taking part in convos I enjoy. You?
Ryder Reyes
I feel just like you, and I'm 27 as well.
Let's chat sometime.
Sebastian Bennett
And I feel so overwhelmed I just want to get to bed and watch anime. It makes me feel like I'm 16 again. I want to be 16 again.
Gavin Adams
Does anyone know if this would be good for me?
Thanks for the advice, my man.
Jayden Murphy
They all kinds of lectures on a variety of stuff (math, computer science,physics,....)
I dont know, they might be happy there's people in their lives that they care for?
James Green
>What are you doing with yourself these days, robots? Got a phonecall this Friday telling me I got the job I was interviewed for a week back. So now I can move away from my parents (again). Feels pretty good desu, now I can start a new phase.
Hugs for everyone, even you fat, old uggos :)
Jaxon Sanders
You're the fucking man.
I need to get on this shit real fucking soon. I might just get back to it this week. I feel kinda guilty for putting it down for a couple months since I really do want to do this seriously but man, it's kinda demotivating starting out and you have no idea what you're doing.
Mason Thomas
Parents have love, enthusiasm, joy, purpose seeing for their children develop and supporting them, they find meaning in their relationships with their children.
Hudson Bailey
I'm also interested in learning to program. Do you want to maybe talk about it on Discord and motivate one another? Other people are welcome to join!
Eli Ward
I'm not even on the coasts. And it is crazy, that's fifty dollars a day just to wake up. I earn like 175 a day at work if you break it down like that... But that's only 5 days a week obviously. Fuck it I'm gonna find a subleaser.
Charles Rogers
I'd say you should focus your study along a few certain areas: Math (Discrete topics, Basic Calculus, Linear Algebra, Intro to Probability), Computer Science (Intro to programming, Intro to Algorithms, other misc topics) and Computers themselves (Intro to Computer Architecture / Systems, Intro to Operating Systems).
This is just a primer. MIT OCW has a lot of stuff so make sure you comb it all over to see what you need or seems interesting.
Bentley Campbell
>finally dawning on you that you have worked 6 years in a 14 hour part time retail job and have nothing to show for it >finally realising it's too late to go back to college and get a hs diploma because your brain has rotted >finally realising when my parents die i will probably be homeless >tfw understand it's too late to get myself out of this situation
If you have self awareness, then it's never too late. Fight.
Easton Lewis
i'm too stupid for education and thus cannot get a better job, which is implying any job would hire someone with a 6 year part time job as their only reference.
Blake Moore
26
starting plumbering basic degree in august
been doing current job for 3 years and i want to kill myself
Tyler Rivera
Try to get a GED.
William Peterson
This is it. I'm gonna lose 40 pounds then visit all my efriends.
Sebastian Gomez
I've literally never passed a test in my entire life user, not once in hs, not once in college, not ever. Trying to get educated feels like trying to draw blood from a stone.
John Morales
25yo
quit my job a few months ago, i've been NEET since. i prefer this life. parents hate that i'm NEET, i tell them i apply to jobs but i don't because i don't want to go back to that torture
chubby, going to the gym but not really getting muscle or losing fat well (shit tier muscle building genetics)
balding
the only positive thing i guess is that i don't have to wake up in the morning to a blaring alarm and rush to some wagecuck job, honestly. becoming NEET cured my depression
Jordan Foster
you need to actually study.
Ryan Wright
I did study, i'd spend days studying or doing homework and it would always make no sense to me and i'd still fail. Some of us are just stupid user.
Caleb Long
30 in a couple weeks. I work odd jobs here or there, haven't had a "real" job in 6 or 7 years now.
It's kinda comfy, I don't mind at all.
Jeremiah Sanchez
You seem articulate. You need to not be self defeating, work like your life depended on it. I won't say it's easy or you won't fail, but JUST GET THAT GED!!!
William Clark
being articulate =/= being smart, i refuse to go back to any form of education due to prior bad experiences anyway. My current plan is to do what i'm doing now until my parents die then i'm going to kill myself.
Christian Butler
I don't think you're stupid. You just suck at studying and need to read up on how to study more effectively. That won't just help you in school, either.
Noah Torres
take 600 milligrams of lsd
Brayden Campbell
what would this accomplish other than wasting what few funds i have?
Henry Brown
I am implying you aren't a driveling retard with zero self awareness. You're just a defeatist. Try to get into a trade and become an apprentice.
Nathan Foster
I would rather just kill myself, every experience i have with the outside world has only led to further destruction of my mind and life and i don't see how that would be any different.
Xavier Martin
>I've also got ambitions to earn a Master's/PhD in Byzantine studies some day, which could be very plausible. I've already been on a few Archaeological digs.
Cool stuff user, could you tell us some more?
Jeremiah Ward
27 year old, got a mcjob and lost 30 lbs. Need to start my programming again, and look for a new job since this isn't full time. Wish I knew what to do with my life.
Texted my mom I lost my job today. tfw she says im such a smart guy who makes poor choices and it hurts her heart. Im glad I barely have any emotions.
Nathan Garcia
I'm 28 years old and started browsing arcanine 11 years ago.
I used to be the typical robot >not cool enough to be cool >not loser enough to be loser >not normal enough to be normal
Had a small group of friends and just skated by. A few years after grad I lost contact with most of them and became hard core NEET. I had piss jugs, poop jugs, couldn't make even contact with family, and many other stupid things.
I got out of it. Got a job, found a girl and now I am married with a son and house.
Jeremiah Peterson
And to be honest I miss the old robot days a lot....
Luke Edwards
Sure. TheDudeYou'reTalkingTo#9463
I thought programming didn't require THAT much math. ;_;
As long as it's not shit like Calc 2 or anything above that, I could be alright.
Logan Wood
>computer programming out of all the things you could do you picked one of the worst.
As a programmer for 10+ years I can tell you that its horrible being one. The skill isn't anything special at all, any Pajeet can learn to code and thats what you'll be competeing with. It doesn't produce anything worthwhile like music or art, no one will ever praise you for being a programmer, it just wants to make you blow your brains out. And you need to be chad with chad connections to even get a job as a programmer. fuck it is the worst career choice for a robot.
how do i meet a 25+ gf? I'm getting too old to stay alone. time is running out FAST but I don't even know where to look. I don't want a used up roastie, I don't want any kids - where can I meet a woman that fits this description????
Robert Green
user, I'm sorry to be the one who has to tell you, but you're too late.
Jack Sanders
NOOOOOOOO TAKE IT BACK! I FINALLY HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER IN LIFE!!!!!!!! IT'S MY TURN
Jason Sanchez
When is too late to restart school? I just turned 26. Failed out of college with literally 1 credit at 19 never went back and became entrenched in pattern of odd jobs then neet for a while then odd jobs rinse repeat. I just want to get an actual career I basically make min wage and have no upward mobility.
Mason Clark
what about trades? you could get a honest job
Kayden Bell
If you haven't met a pure gf by 24 at the very latest, you're too late. You might be able to find a mentally ill 2/10, but it's all fat roasties and single mothers from here on.
Carter Jenkins
>I don't want a used up roastie You're not emotionally mature enough to maintain an adult relationship.
Cameron Campbell
Kill yourself, cuck. I don't want a woman who's done riding the cock carousel and is ready to settl down, nor do I want a woman that has children. I'm not expecting a virgin at this age but why the fuck would I want someone who's fucked every man she met for the last 15 years?
Josiah Thomas
>bla bla bla incel memes r9k memes bla bla
Daniel Kelly
Why are you here? Just to get angry and upset yourself?
Why are you here? You're an adult, think for yourself. Your opinions are all memes.
Cooper Cooper
cheer up user, the important thing is that you're still trying which puts you head and shoulders above most of this board. I lost my virginity when I was 25, and it only got better from there. What if the best years of your life haven't even happened yet?
Gabriel Reed
...
Grayson Morris
My original point was your lack of emotional maturity which you're displaying for everyone to see.
Thomas Phillips
where are all the 25+ autistic females at? there has to be someone that meets the criteria.. I can't die alone and I'll never settle for a roast
Cameron Fisher
>roast Any female that sees you saying shit like that that has any strand of self respect would run for the hills.
Grayson Turner
[Lack of coherent rebuttal]
Xavier Lewis
His language was a bit of a meme but hes not wrong and your attitude is cuck leaning in the normie kind of way. It is true since the dawn of time that 90 percent of women who are single in their 30s are either mentally weird in some way or single mothers/newly divorced. Both of which are pretty undesirable.. I understand not wanting to settle for that.
