It's not weird that they're liberals. Age of consent laws and that kind of thing are integral to feminism, both structurally and psychologically. Structurally because if women get married off when they're young they're much less likely to go on to higher education and get a job and be independent, and psychologically because feminism is really about women trying to allocate more resources to themselves via the state, and cutting out their (younger) competition. They're disgusted by men running after younger, more attractive girls precisely because they are older and less attractive.

There is one valid objection to dating a college-aged girl, although this applies even to college-aged guys, which is that society is structured so that a lot of major life changes are imminent, which can adversely impact a relationship. A girl in college still needs to get a job upon graduation, which requires that she move, and her friends will all be nagging her incessantly to "enjoy life" and "play the field", so a stable relationship gets quite difficult if you're a man looking for a wife.

Reddit has always had this obnoxious habit of babying anyone younger than their mid-30's. They'll say you can't give full consent until you're 25 because "that's when the brain finishes developing", and prior to then you can't be held accountable for your fuckups. You'll be 29 and they'll tell you you're so young and have your whole life ahead of you. I don't get what it is about that place that inspires such fucked up ideas about how people think or feel at certain ages, it's like you're not fully a human until you're 40.
