Usually comedy shows or documentaries. I saw Kevin Hart's show this evening and a BBC documentary about life in solitary in prisons the other day. Amazing stuff.

If you are referring to people who watch competitive games like csgo or dota 2 then the reasons are equivalent to why people watch sports. To see the best in the world in something you like compete.

If it's for people that watch lets plays or streamers, it's either because they enjoy the personality of the person in question or because they are inordinately good at the game which makes it enjoyable to watch them do things you are unable to.

Not that user, but ADV China is a good channel for learning about Chinese politics and culture. Some of the titles sound like clickbait, but they're pretty informative about the state of the country.

Truth. The only anime YouTuber I really watch nowadays is Digi. Although I watch him more for his drunk 3am After Dark rants than his main channel stuff. His multiple hours long recommendation videos or "scoring every show I've watched" series make for comfy background noise.
