If you are a Twitch streamer you are supposed to declare all money you made on your tax forms. Most don't. The IRS doesn't know that someone makes most of their money as a Twitch streamer if they work an office job during the day. The IRS will be grateful if you bring specific people trying to skirt the system to their attention.

I would assume that Twitch issues you some form of tax paperwork that they also send to the IRS detailing your earnings, much like an employer would.

The IRS doesn't care how you get your money. You could get it from selling drugs and say as much and they won't snitch as long as you pay your dues.

from what i recall after reading on how to become a twitch streamer (didnt because i fucking hate interacting with people that are in these 'communities'), you are basically declared as self employed (like a contractor) and have to fill out certain tax forms and keep track of your income for proper taxing. Its quite a bit of work, especially a few years back when obamacare was around and have to keep track of that bullshit. It really is a lot of work to be 'legit' when it comes to taxes

this is really just a ploy for the enforcement agencies to use to add another charge if they catch and convict a criminal for these 'illegal activities', hence why people who steal or sell drugs wouldnt report it anyway. IF you get caught, ur fugged regardless
