Jow Forums was always going to be a mix of other boards - lets not forget originally this place was just meant to be Jow Forumss trashcan, so anything more is an improvement.
But its that mix that makes us different. Being able to access anime, shitposts, international threads, risk, and comfy chats without having to go to another board is actually really nice.
Sure Cirnoposters go a bit too far, gayposters and furfags are a bit cancerous, and sometimes Jow Forums steals the GETs, but if they were gone we'd only find more to whine about.

But real talk tho: I don't know about everyone else, but to me Jow Forums in its infancy was all about games and shitpost. It's always been like this: stupid little games and posting shitty OC. And that's what I still enjoy: this board has nothing of its own (like OP said), so searching for something unique is kind of pointless.
I don't think animeposting, frogposting or anything else really makes Jow Forums a worse place, because there is no real definition of what this place is yet.
I really don't know beyond that what this place could be used for without being utterly redundant with other boards. Most people here are from other board to begin with and have carried that luggage with the, so finding a common ground seems kind of a lost cause. My only point would be to learn to chill and enjoy what is around without interfering so that topics and threads can be at peace and not shitting all over one another all the time.

But take a look at all the major shit that's happened around this entire fucking website in the last couple years. There are some forced shifts going on and a few light pushes in different directions for the sake of less internet drama. Depending on your specific taste, it varies.
Of course there are idiots everywhere, but let me give you a simple example:
I like guns, and I like history. Where do I go to talk about these things? Jow Forums and /his/. These two boards have idiots sharting their pants all the same, ad you have the occasional shitpost here and there, but you can mostly keep a discussion rolling with people that you know are interested about this stuff because they browse a board dedicated to it.
You can't have that on Jow Forums.
