God has got to exist, right? Without God, everything is meaningless and empty.
God has got to exist, right? Without God, everything is meaningless and empty
seems to be the same with god, so i dont see your point
everything felt meaningless and empty even when i believed "god" existed.
life is a dreadful bore anons.
hint hint the latter is right
>seems to be the same with god, so i dont see your point
With God I can feel at peace because I can ask God for forgiveness
You probably didn't believe vigorously then. If God is all that your soul directs towards, then it will fill your whole World with the thought of God and His Will only.
No. God has to exist. He just has to.
What if God does exist but isn't actually like what your parents and the priest and some other humans grasping in the dark for meaning told you.
We are all grasping in the dark for meaning.
You can pretend that some God gives you that.
Or you can make your own.
If God doesn't exist, and you believe he does, then that can give you some sort of meaning.
Sure.
But don't pretend.
If God does exist, you're better off not pretending, but living your life honestly.
Find meaning were you can.
Don't pretend.
What if God exists, but found floating in an eternal timeless void to have no meaning, so created the universe just to give itself something to do... there would still be no meaning.
Why would there be meaning?
What is Meaning?
The words has lost all meaning.
If you look to the classic idea of God for your sense of meaning you are grasping at a dying system that's inevitably falling out of fashion. A new universal system of meaning will come into being whether it's a good one or not, but until that happens you're stuck with dying ideas or living life without ultimate meaning. I think it's possible to figure out a personal sense of meaning but if you're looking for a lens that your peers also use you're out of luck.
God are White
>What is Meaning?
I.. I don't know, user.
>The words have lost all meaning.
Yeah. I guess they have.
What sort of God should I believe in then? Is there any god beyond the traditional one or am I doomed to be either an atheist or believe in a God I can never know first-hand?
Nothing is meaningless solong as we are conscious. If you let go of meaning, then the universe, god, Jupiter, whatever or whom ever you perceive the master of the energy within the universe to be will accept your choice, and let you rot because of it. However never forget, humans have free will. We can rot, or we can grow. Growing is the less travelled and more difficult path to travel, nothing is guaranteed with it. The path of rotting; decay, comes with an immediate certainty. That is the certainty of nothingness in the end.
I don't know user but I've been reading some catholic works to strengthen my faith.
That's all I can do.
I don't want the kind of God that would architect this reality to be real
>However never forget, humans have free will
No, we don't.
>I don't want the kind of God that would architect this reality to be real
It's the only one we've got, user.
God does exist. So does Jesus. So does the Devil. The Devil is running the earth right now.
If belief in god isn't improving your life perhaps you are misinformed about the nature of god user
>God has got to exist, right?
Unfortunately, things aren't always how we'd prefer them to be, user.
There would be meaning in such a scenario, the gnostic one btw, because if God exists then there is a chance at salvation from unending death.
>you are grasping at a dying system that's inevitably falling out of fashion.
Faith in God is difficult and I think it will beneficial when the only thing that compels one to be a chrisitian will be faith and not birth, relationships, and other societal pressures. In old times, all were chrisitian, not because of any personal faith, but because of their identity. Now, as it was meant to be, it will be only those individuals who truly grapple with the full consequence of accepting the yoke of Christ who will be truly christian. "Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." - Mat. 3:12. Note this doesn't have to be a physical death, perhaps a more metaphorical one.
>What sort of God should I believe in then?
I agree that God is unknowable, that is without Christ. Focus on Christ, his life, his teaching, and his meaning. Many have difficulty believing in some abstract God, who created the entire universe, but we have Christ for our God, a man who was in one sense very much like us. There is great comfort to be found in Christ and he himself compells us, "Come here to me, all you who labor and are burdened, And I will give you rest." - Mat. 11:28
We do have free will. Proof of free will is our ability as the individual to go against the common choices taken by the majority. You are however close to this truth, for I see your rejection of the idea of free will moreso as an observation that there are few who do use their free will, and instead choose to move with the herd. You are meant to forge your future.
if God is so all mighty then why the fuck doesn't he just kill the devil and stop the bad things on earth?
faker
faker
almost there
books won't help you find god mister
enh meh you probably would
Our circumstances determine what we consider truth. Every effect has its causes and these causes, if all-knowing, can be numbered and cataloged. On our own we stumble around trusting in a limited range of ideas. That is why the will, the revelation of truth, must come from the outside. Only God can wake up someone from their confusion or slumber and shift the ideas of man in a different more unnatural direction. Our choices are massively limited by our circumstances of birth and we would be stuck in this darkness forever if it isn't for God's revelation.
Well said. Night for now, user.
