Two things. One is being an intelligent person, which is something that's basically set in stone at birth but which can be degraded or nurtured to an extent. The other thing is expertise, where you have sufficient and familiar knowledge of critical facts in order to further develop your positions.

Apply yourself and put in the work. Don't let other people drag you down because most times it's because they don't want you to succeed. Robot and normalfags alike hate others who are growing and succeeding.

read books related to what you want to be smart in

Study your field for its own sake instead of doing it so that you can feel more secure about your intelligence or so that people look up to you.

By going outside your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to take on new things. Read books or watch movies you don't fully understand, that introduce new ideas.

Watching Rick and Morty is a good place to start.

unironically this. so many black pills

why would you even want to be one of those twats

>why would you even want to be one of those twats
T. brainlet

smart people don't end up here, sweetie :)

It's not that simple. You can't just think "I want to be smart in philosophy" and pick up Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit.

I just get bored of the general patterns of life and need to learn some non trivial or work on something creative to not be bored. I think that's why a lot of us come here, because everything else doesn't do it. Just replace Jow Forums and other degenerate bullshit with books about new stuff and you're set, the problem is, if you're a total brainlet and don't get enough pleasure out of the other stuff because it may be too hard, it may not work

>just read books
Worst advice. There's a shitton of books and unless you know what to read you're most likely just wasting your time. You don't become smarter by reading, you become smarter by reading the good stuff. If you're going to suggest reading, at least add a reading list.

>sweetie
cringers
u could have made ur point without using that but i see u were so mad u couldnt hold back

Nice cope. If you're not smart don't project it on others.

lmao watch out we got true intellectuals here LOL

>being u
all i see is a mad baby im curious how many other stock responses ur gonna use lol

fuck i just got pwned by an intellectual holy fuck

holy fuck pwned xP

Simple. Browse /lit/

By browsing /lit/ and reading what they read you either become a mindless follower of Harold Bloom or a mentally ill neoreactionary, but "intellectual" isn't a word I would use in either case.

>PC breaks for a week
>bring home books from library
>get tons of reading done
>fix PC
>go back to rotting brain on Jow Forums and vidya all day

Unironically studying basic logic is a good start. That, or mathematics, but I suggest you stick with the former, since you are asking for advice on ceasing to be a brainlet (that is, assuming that you sucked at it). Then familiarize yourself with some basic concepts in the field of your choosing. Pick up anything related to your study which reads ''An Introduction to [insert topic here]''. From there on, I think you'd get a sense of direction for your further intellectual pursuits if you, indeed, have managed to form a solid framework/basis in the discipline of your choosing - if not, then I've got some bad news for you...

Be idle. Don't do anything or talk to anyone for long periods of time. Retreat into your own mind as an escape from boredom. Read a book when you run out of things to think about.

Stop coming to Jow Forums, specially Jow Forums.

The fact that you're prepared to question and doubt your current mental perimeters indicates that you at least possess a glimmer of intelligence
Generally speaking
Always try to keep an open mind
Don't be afraid to confront new ideas
Keep asking questions and searching for the answers
Always doubt the current state of your knowledge or your mind will stagnate
Accept that one can never stop learning

The more I read the dumber I feel. I am convinced the only way to become a true intellectual is to sexually dominate arthoes.
>become a mindless follower of Harold Bloom
This is unironically a good list, though.

This is why people assume /lit/ fags are pseuds

Do the Rousseau type shit, where you disbelieve everything. And reconsider every fucking thing, for a long moment.

>Do the Rousseau type shit, where you disbelieve everything.
That's just dumb and leads to you acting like a retard who doesn't believe in moon landings or global warming

You are a wise man user.

Psychedelics, books and meditation. You need to get fucked up on hard drugs to shock your nervous system and your previous ways of thinking then explore self control, mindfulness. Then it's straight to the books

>I am convinced the only way to become a true intellectual is to sexually dominate arthoes.
intellectual here
thats not it

First realise even when you think you know something, you probably don't. Overcoming dunning kruger and other cognitive biases is really hard, but it's worth trying.

then read lots, specifically classics and specifically philosophy, and just work your way up.

You can't really. Your intelligence is pretty much set in stone. You can become more knowledgeable and learn more stuff, but not any smarter.

intelligence can be optimized through training although i'd wager the maximum effective IQ gain would be around 10-15 points. learning math as someone else mentioned helps a lot. rote memorization and mnemonic training are also doable.

There is no evidence you can improve IQ. there have been many attempts. Early interventions, Head Start, Abecedarian project, dual N-back, nootropics, etc. None work.

The most you can do is remove things from the environment that decrease IQ like lead and iodine deficiency.

journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0956797618774253

Here's a recent meta-analysis that says that education actually raises your IQ. I suggest reading it on sci-hub if you're interested.

Lit actually has good suggestions if you aren't just reading the meme trilogy. Got me into kafka and gogol and thoreau.

Gotta free yourself of those hedonistic tendencies first, catharsis. Once you dont care about how your penis feels, you can begin to pursue the highest of Ideals. I had sex with only one black girl and then afterwards was enligteneed. Take for example this work of art i created. Clearly the work of a genius, only possible once i had released my inhibitions and focused on something more than human.

IQ has alot to do with spatial awareness, mental visualization, and memorization and retention. Increase those things and your iq will grow.

What else is there to it then?

Watch Sargon of Akkad and Stefan Molyneux videos several times a day.

>Do the Rousseau type shit, where you disbelieve everything
Isn't that Descartes?

I tried this but ended up with psychosis after smoking the 420th blunt in a row.

That's all sperg shit. People don't think about "spatial awareness" or even about IQ in general when they're assessing how smart a person really is. They care about how well-read or well-spoken you are.
