>about to put up my first short story collection on Amazon
>set a hard deadline for mid-January
I know nobody will read it but I need to get something out there. I'm using this for a test run before I really sit down and rewrite my novel manuscript.
My big problem now is that I want to get the word count up to 40k. But I don't know if I have the wherewithal to write one more story. I'm fuckin spent.
show us all the stuff you made, im proud of whatever you guys make 6cyJmj
I'm waiting to get a new guitar amp so I can assault all of your ears with shitty rock music. Can't wait. I used to love posting in these threads. Especially when I got surprisingly positive feedback on one of my favorite self-made songs.
What are those short stories about? I got fuck all in terms of audience but if you wanted to I could record an audiobook for you
What do you have in mind? I got me a Marshall MG50CFX for cheap and I'm pretty happy with that one. But I'm not much of a gearfag so maybe it's actually "shit"
I'm not a gear snob faggot, don't worry. I'm looking at getting a Marshall JCM 900 2x12 combo amp or one of those Ampeg combo amps that the Rolling Stones used, but there's a couple other amps I've been looking at. I'm also super conflicted because I don't actually know if I want a combo amp or a head+cabinet.
If you need to move that amp around for a gig I'd suggest you buy a decent combo. I'd think they are loud enough these days for smaller venues and for larger venues you're gonna play over the PA system anyway.
yes ofc. Principles of Design is a good place to start and is applicable to almost every discipline relating to visual art
Science fiction. Most of them are about modern alienation caused by social media and how it might become more extreme as the internet becomes thoroughly integrated with our minds. But I'm going to try to shill it as straight pulp sci-fi; hit people with a bait and switch and at least annoy them. There are a couple of adventure stories just to sneak into genreshit.
There are a lot of internet comments, chats with AI, sex robots. It would be difficult to record an audiobook. But it can be interesting if done well- it would have to be more 'experimental' than the text itself.
My first idea would be to fuck around with some voice modulation for the internet comments, AI and so on. Definitely sounds interesting enough if done well
That's what I was thinking too. I'm cagey about posting anything before it's published, but if you have a calling card or hang around these threads I'll post a call in January to see if you're interested or think it's shit. My ambition is to put together a multimedia project, especially with the novel, but one thing at a time.
suggestion for writer types: stay far the fuck away from /lit/
I'm this poster and I'm in most of these threads so chances are you'll see me around some time
Hey frens I wrote this yesterday soundcloud.com
i dont really know what i make any more, kinda felt uninspired with making music recently, more into working on my shitbox car, but im still proud of most of the stuff on here
skipped right to Harlan. I dig it. I was a little skeptical about the languid pace but you nailed AM's text. I'll definitely pop into these threads more if the ball starts rolling
Got rejection letters from some of the top online poetry publishers that made a point to say they liked my work. More encouraging than form rejection letters, or from story publishers who basically tell me to "fuck off."
Could get published in free journals but I'm holding out for that sweet acceptance hundo. I guess they don't like it if you've already posted your work online, but fuck em. Here's a couple:
Yeah, I think I have no mouth was my best video so far. Not so coincidentally also probably my favourite short story
wrote and recorded this yesterday evening, was very tired, pretty much half asleep while making it so its not a tight performance. i wanted to use synths and have the pitch occasionally dive but i dont have a midi controller capable of that so i used my voice instead. i didnt feel like rushing some lyrics to sing over this and i didnt wanna spend too much time on this, im happy with it just being an instrumental. sort of a post-punk kinda sound with some shitty guitar harmonies.
soundcloud.com
wow that first one is dreamy, some interesting moments, pretty cool
good lord "At Sea" is fantastic. thats insane man
do you write just for fun or do you have your music performed? this is really cool sounding stuff, im curious as to what your goal is, and i think more people need to hear these
"Dreaming" is fucking incredible holy shit
some spooky vibes...
dig the atmosphere, like an alien world or a bad dream
Thanks for the compliments. Your newest track is also pretty neat. I like the kind of new wavey, perhaps post-punkesque vibe it has. That's something I plan on eventually doing as well. I like going for the sad/alien/nightmarish vibe. Probably not hard to guess that I like the Silent Hill soundtracks
