Here's some actual advice OP. She invited you and then for whatever reason you can't come. "Invite Only" means who ever is running the party, which she presumably isn't, gets to invite people. It's possible she is lying about it being invite only and the real reason is someone there just doesn't want you to come which is totally fine.
The important thing is you got an invite from this girl. She probably isn't trying to fuck with you. She is giving you attention. Maybe she likes you? Why aren't you getting it in yet?

Anyways OP if there's lot of people at a party you can often just show up since nobody keeps track of comings and goings. Unless it's a really small tight knit party (like 8 or less people) I doubt it's just invite only

Oh also another thing, hosts of parties are easily overwhelmed at big parties so if you suck up to the host and help them out you can easily befriend them. And if you befriend the host, you have power over the average party goer there.
