I'm in a monster hunter for psp discord and I see it happen all the time, new people with no tags get ignored when they say hi or ask for help, while the old ones circle jerk to no end.
That's why Jow Forums is good.

It's not like making internet friends is easy just because making them in real life is hard. People can forget you and move on quickly precisely because it's so easy for different people to talk to eachother, you need to be able to hold someones attention.
