Are you knowledgeable about anything? it can just be a deep knowledge about something like history, animals, bridges, music, maybe you've even researched something by starting on wikipedia, or it can be a skill like drawing, programming, language, whatever else.

It's safe to say a lot of us have a lot of free time on our hands but do you do anything with it?

No, not really. I lack to energy to learn about something beyond just the basics. I spend most of my free time on escapist pursuits (jerking off, eating, etc.)

It may sound edgy but counterinsurgency theory and practice

I write. I don't know how good it is but anyone who has read it has enjoyed a great deal. I suppose it's not really a skill though.

I can build basic furniture likes chairs and small tables, but haven't done so in years.

Yeah, serial killers. Kind of embarrassed by it though

I'm proficient in metallurgy to the point when I have talked to a metallurgist, they were shocked I didn't have a degree in it and I can say "Excuse me, where is the toilet, I must throw up" in 23 languages including Farsi and Komi.

Me too, I want to get into web development stuff for fun though, mainly because I find the internet pretty stale and it's making me want to experiment with stuff and see if I can make something new.

I wouldn't say it's edgy, Jow Forums related things are generally really interesting and never fail to enthrall me if I come across some Jow Forums material.

Writing seems enjoyable for someone with a good imagination, do you read a lot to get good at it or something? you could make money from the furniture thing.

I can see why you wouldn't want to bring something like that up in public but it's certainly fascinating to read about the exploits of people like that. Murders in general actually, especially unsolved ones.

Why don't you try finding work in metalurgy? Nice travel prep.

I make custom jewelry as a hobby and it sells pretty well (I'm a male[male] btw). I also heat treat knife blanks for knife makers who don't have the ability to treat stainless steel themselves.

I did read a lot. I used to listen to a lot of audiobooks when I worked nights too but since I quit my job I've divided the time more between writing and video games. I still read, just less often.

A good imagination helps. My first book is about ready to send off to an agent and I'd rather make money from writing than building furniture. I also live in a shared house and don't have the space to build anything.

Sounds like you have your shit together and creating things must be pretty satisfying work as well, certainly better than most jobs I'd say. It's okay if you want to wear your jewelry man.

Do you think it's more important to have a brilliant imagination or some good influences (other authors)? or maybe it's just equal. I've always wondered this since everything is similar, but people with original stories must have started somewhere. Good luck with your book too.

I know a lot more about animals than the average person but not enough to post in /an/. Lot of foaming raging vegan types who would set you on fire because your dog found a chocolate chip cookie in your garbage bin.

You sound just like a friend of mine. Although he would have said something like hentai and tetris

I spent too much time as a youth on this site. All my interests and hobbies revolve around this site.
I have an obsession with guns, camping, cooking, etc
But the most passionate interest I have is my sheer ability to frustrate people, I can push buttons like a motherfucker.

Why don't you not have enough knowledge to post on /an/? a lot of posters often have no idea what they're talking about but post anyway, I thought this held true for the entire site. Is /an/ the exception?

>counterinsurgency theory
Where would be a good place to start to learn about it?

>interested in slightly above average knowledge of things
>but not that much
>have ended up disappointing a lot of people expecting intellectual conversation

I mean this stuff is pretty interesting, but the rest is pretty much boring irrelevant information IMO. I wish god hadn't pulled out the autism syringe half-way through baking me.

I mean, intellectual conversation doesn't mean you have to know a lot about the subject.

I know a lot about coating metals, especially aluminium, and have a more general knowledge about chemistry, research, experimental set-ups and how to safely store large ammounts of chemicals.

A fellow enthusiast of the material sciences! Always nice to see one of us around here.

This might sound dumb but im very good at digging holes

I am really good with history, I do a lot of camping/survival/bushcraft/etc. and I have been playing the guitar for two years

I know a fair bit about engine calibration, but wasn't able to get a job in it. Probably still my dream job, but to get my foot in the door I feel like I'd have to spend a lot on a master's degree or give up what I have in my current career in a few years.

I know a lot about music. Almost all of time is spent listening to albums, reading about music or practicing what I've learned. I play guitar, mandolin, bass, balalaika, piano, flute, sax, harmonica and recorder lol. I had private guitar lessons for about five years. After a year and a half, my instructor told me that I was his best player out of around 70 and that he's never known anyone who can learn as quickly as me.

Machine learning mostly with neural networks in Python and making video games. Also 3d modelling and graphics design and I like to mess around with Arduino sometimes

very deeply knowledgeable in programming & computer science, learned enough on my own to get a job in the field

also mathematics

Nope. Anything that is useful I get into I drop halfway. Got into Math/Physics dropped because I was too low IQ. Got into coding, dropped because I got distracted with anime and vidya. Got into lifting, then quit a year later because manlet.

Really wish I had motivation desu.

That's me basically. I guess I know just a little bit about most stuff but that's it. In the end I'm a retard with no redeeming qualities or skills whatsoever.
