Samsung is currently the best display manufacturer in the world. TVs and phones. There's a reason Apple gets their iPhone displays from them.

The kind you don't buy
(just get 1080p)

I just picked up the Q6FN from Samsung. 120hz (you can "motionflow" it to 240), QLED, HDR10+. Only thing that would make it better is Dolby Vision, but for the price, I don't think you can do much better.

>buying a 1080p tv when a 4k costs the same

Uhhh no they don't fag

You really can't tell the difference between 4k and 1080p, but there are things you CAN tell the difference between. Refresh rate and HDR comes to mind. I'm not aware of any 1080p TV that has HDR, though if you know of one, consider me interested.

What about the UHD samsung 4k tvs? Or should I just get QLED

I think Samsung rebranded their UHD to the QLED this year. That said, their UHD sets are more towards the Q7/Q8 quality, meaning you're still likely to pay more than the Q6, which was 400 bucks off on Amazon a week ago.

>buying a tv that will hike up your energy bill

How about their OLED?

im getting a gift for my mother this xmas and will be placing it in her bedroom

By that logic, you should just watch everything on your phone.

OLED is for people who are literally willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING for the best picture out of the box. They are also quite expensive.

Take a look at the screen in this video to see what I'm talking about. That's about 1 year of wear on the OLED screen (and nobody warranties against burn-in).

QLed wont bleed right? My mother uses tv a lot and dont want any issues such as that.

Youtuber said sony had better tvs too what say you?

>a 1080 tv is the same as a phone

the absolute state of brainlets

I have used the hell out of my QLED. No bleed that I've seen.

Sony makes good screens, too. I have one in my bedroom. That said, they are very overpriced in comparison to Samsung. Also, Sony is not investing in Quantum Dot yet. For them, it's OLED or LED. QLED is definitively better than LED, and has a MUCH better lifespan in comparison to OLED.

A note, however, since you are putting it into a bedroom: the 49" Q6F is only 60hz, not 120.

If your only focus is on electricity, you need a phone. If you are focusing on electricity and screen size, 720p is more efficient.

Now Samsung is making Micro LCD next year should I just wait?

I wouldn't. If you're gonna wait, I'd wait until QLED can work without a backlight. Then it will be able to turn off pixels the same way OLED does (although that might introduce black crush, just like OLED).

But it's your money, and you shouldn't spend it on anything you aren't sold on.

according to amazon the 49" has 120 refresh rate and the 55"+ has 240 refresh rate

I understand that. This is incorrect. Check the specs on Amazon's website. That's their Motionflow (or whatever they call it). This should be left off unless you are watching sportsball.

Whats the smallest size that has the 120
thing then?

55" is the smallest that has the 120 refresh rate.

To be fair, your mother most likely won't notice the difference unless she's really into video games or her bedroom is very small.

And so a Q6FN Samsung 55" tv will be able to run all day without blowing up? She likes to fall alseep to the tv

She watches a lot of movies and tv shows on netflix so I got her a 4k amazon fire cube thing and now I'm getting her a tv. She also falls asleep to them so I need one that wont bleed.

Without question. The only thing I've found wanting about it is the sound, but this is a problem with all thin TV's, in my opinion. A good sound bar goes a long way to remedying that problem. Most people don't seem to notice, either.

Feel free to search online to see if it's a problem with others, but I've experienced no bleeding. I'm really sensitive to that kind of stuff.

Ok. Cool. Now just need to find a good sound bar.

Just to make sure

This is the TV you're talking about right?

OP don't listen to anyone in this thread, including yourself...
Open your nearest internet browser and google "craigslist"...
This will mark the beginning of your search for the greatest tv ever made...

I use the HTCT 790. Plug in your HDMIs to it, and it pushes it to the TV. It will also pull sound from the TV if you connect with an ARC port (the Q6FN has one). The HTCT 790 will allow 4k video to be pushed through it.

That said, don't think that's your only option. I'm sure Samsung and others also has a great selection.

Yes. Just make sure to turn down "local dimming"

Im not much of an audiophile but do you happen to know what specs Im looking for? Most likely Im going to best buy to test trial some soundbars.

I'm not an audiophile, either. I just find TV speakers to be ass. Honestly, anything that pushes 4k and HDR will be much better than anything a TV has. The model I mentioned is sold on Amazon for about 180 bucks. I'm sure you could find it for less on ebay.

Keep in mind that soundbars that come with a bass tend to shake walls if you share a house with her.

looks like the subwoofer is faulty according to reviews on it

what say you

I might get a 1080p TV so I can get an Xbox One X. But it costs a lot for the both of them and I need them both because my TV now is like 720p.

Xbox One supports 4K get those instead

Here's an example of what I mean:
ebay.com/itm/Sony-HTCT790-Bluetooth-Wireless-Subwoofer/323483594673
and:
ebay.com/itm/Sony-HTCT790-2-1-Channel-Bluetooth-Soundbar-Only/273493473680

Buy both for $120. Free shipping.

Subwoofer isn't really faulty. That said, sometimes you do need to press a button on the back of the subwoofer in order to resync it. I'd say it happens once every 2 or 3 months. There are only 2 buttons on the back, one bigger and one smaller. You just press the bigger button once and it resyncs.

If you're gonna buy a new TV for the X, go for a 4k. They aren't much more than a good 1080p panel these days, plus you'll get HDR, which matters a lot.

They cost $3,000 more. Am I searching in the wrong places?

The one user posted above is $1000 for a 55"

Yes. Here's a 55" 4k HDR QLED for 1100.

Amazon claims its bloated with adware

What say you

Wouldn't know. I don't let it connect to the internet. It's a smart TV, but I got a Roku Ultra, so I'm not interested in those features. I like how the remote can control my Roku, though.

Reddit says not to buy that

reddit.com/r/HTBuyingGuides/comments/9vevyx/stop_asking_if_you_should_buy_the_samsung_nu8000/

Mmm that's ok but I still need the Xbox X. I can't play $1500 for all that. I'll just get the basics but I still don't know if I even have enough for that.

Then don't buy it. I don't care. I have it, and I'm happy.

Have fun finding a 1080p tv at that size with a refresh rate of 120hz for less than a grand. So you'll be looking to save 100 bucks by giving up 4k and HDR.

We must be in different countries because I found a 1080p with 120Hz for just $160.
