bump bump bump

pls, I would love some feedback on my first and second song

Still listening to it. Sounding good so far, as is to be expected from you

Does photography count, my fellow bots?

Every creative endeavour counts

Aw thank you user! That means a lot to me!
Here's the third song

soundcloud.com/user-262160346/depthalbumversion/s-O1KVo

yes it does, I love photography, please post yours.

Well, as I said earlier it sounds pretty good. It takes a little bit long to get going which might be suboptimal in another genre since the first track should be the one that captures the listener. But since it's an ambient record it shouldn't be a problem

soundcloud.com/stupiddd

I only have like 10 songs, they're just short older-style synth/sampled stuff. I produce songs/beats for big bucks every once in awhile but for the most part music just isn't anything more than a fun hobby. I prefer listening than making.

I'd appreciate opinions, creative bros.

gets amazing at 4:50. good job user.

Thank you user. The first song ends when the rain and guitar start.

Thank you so much user

Here's the third one if you want to hear it: soundcloud.com/user-262160346/depthalbumversion/s-O1KVo

What sort of music production software would you lads recommend? I've kind of gotten bored with musecore's limited samples and editing and am interested in trying something new out. I have a pirated copy of FL studio lying around, so I'm currently reading the manual of that, but I'm curious as to what you guys use and why.

posted this last thread. would like to get more feedback/criticisms if people have time, its quite short. pt 1 of 2

I like how this one starts and ends with the same droning sound. Which begs the question, have you put thought into how the album progresses? I like it when there's a clear progression or maybe a story told throughout the album. Which is somewhat of a lost art form in the age of streaming and shuffling through tracks. And good luck with your album

I suppose I'll slap on my links here

OP HERE
I don't really like FL studio as the patches and layout are kind of elementary and you don't have much variety with what sounds you can make.

I personally like Reason 10, it's what I use.

part 2 of 2. hope you have a good night anons

Attached: 2.png (722x683, 36K)

I use FL Studio with a truckload of pirated VSTs, presets and samples. It's a good programm to start out with, depending on what you want to make. But I think eventually I'll also switch to something else

drawing this right now, working out a few anatomical issues before i start coloring

Thank you user. I have a lot.

Two years ago I met my (now ex) girlfriend, and we started dating in a giant snowstorm in my city (hence the snowy first track). Afterwards was spring, when we were still getting along, and then summer, and then fall. Which is when things got worse. She started getting abusive in the winter and spring of 2018, and we reached the breaking point in the summer.

I want to go through the last 2 years of my life with her in this album. We broke up 5 months ago, in the summer (which is the tune I'll probably end the album on..)
Anyways, I really really like "outside." I love how fluid it and ambient it is, with changing sounds. It sounds very professional, and truly takes me to another place.

I love it user, reminds me of a soft rainy day.

Thanks, I always get stalker vibes when looking at these

Attached: IMAG0218.jpg (2560x1440, 362K)

Yes, that game has such great atmosphere.

Had to reduce the image size REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Attached: 62980001.jpg (3091x2048, 1.3M)

Midnight drive has a cool vibe. Otherwise I can see some cool ideas in there like with botched robbery.

That's one hell of a story right there. Glad you got out of there and used those emotions for something productive. I also really like that snowstorm imagery. Sounds almost otherwordly. Like something out of a movie

I always liked atmospheric landscape shots like this. Especially overcast or rainy landscapes like some of these

> Sounds almost otherwordly. Like something out of a movie

Thank's user, I'm glad I'm out too. Here's what I might use for the album cover.

This is a photo I took of her with my film camera a while ago, I developed it in a dark room, and painted the developer on, hence why it's so distorted.

Attached: IMG_3178.jpg (604x670, 114K)

And here's the original print, developed normally.

Attached: IMG_3173.jpg (750x721, 158K)

Looks fitting for the music, and the fact that it fits with the backstory makes it all even better. Knowing the backstory makes the whole album better too. Although the music can definitely stand on it's own legs

hello I completely lack any sense of creativity
what do I do
help

Thanks a lot user, it'll be nice to finally express what I felt for two years, and hopefully get over her.

What exactly do you mean by that? Please elaborate. And I don't think creativity is this intrinsic skill or abillity people either have or don't have. You have to work on it like with most things

Not true user.

Have you tried making music?

Did this oil painting not too long ago.

Attached: Nike in Jordan.jpg (3598x4403, 1.54M)

reupload, forgot to resize

Attached: Nike in Jordan small.jpg (500x611, 157K)

Got no clue about visual art or oil painting for that matter but looks good to me. What made you choose that imagery?

Wow that's super good. What does it mean?

Nothing you can possibly create in your lifetime will still exist 10,000 years from now so don't waste your time.

I lack any sense of rythm since my brith. I mean, my drawing is okay-ish, but i cant even clap along to a song

Who cares? I won't exist in 10000 years either, I don't give a fuck

Im connecting the flowing robes of the man with ancient greek nike statues (pic related). Trying to relate how people in the middle east in insurgent movements might feel about themselves. Also with the nike Chicagos I'm talking about the possibility for someone in the west to also be seduced into that same fantasy/ mentality. Also I just think it looks cool.

Attached: greek nike.jpg (419x536, 44K)

really nice man

thank you both btw

I can't help but hope that faint ripples of my actions now might be felt 10,000 years from now, however faintly

"cd cover", heh

Also, your music is pretty good, i enjoy it

Literally just start trying different creative outlets, user. Eventually you will find something that will stick. You may have to go through a lot of discouraging shit at first

I've tried writing and I never get past a page of awful rambling that makes no sense, I've tried drawing but I can never actually think of something unique, I've tried music, I've tried building shit in minecraft, nothing develops. I wear the same three outfits every day, I lack depth and everything I've tried thus far fails to bring me results.

If you're set on doing creative things with your life, do exciting shit in real life and that will inspire you. And not just one off things, try to live an interesting life.

Attached: wojdepo.jpg (1080x1270, 102K)

Thanks robots. Appreciated

I'm double majoring, I don't have much time to go adventure

This, user. It took me so long to get to the point I am right now with my music, lots of frustrating parts where I just felt like I was shit and couldn't make anything good. You have to move past that stuff.

interesting, awesome painting user

How did you get better user? I'm very frustrated right now, all I have unfinished ideas and I keep giving up. ffs I want to kill myself. Why is music production so fucking complicated? Sound design, composition, mixing, mastering, what the fuck

>I just felt like I was shit and couldn't make anything good
shit, I feel that now. Everything feels so forced.

any yall like Metal, think my stuff is going towards a more noisy/mathcore direction

We have a tune about Skyking recorded and on the way. If anyone's interested I could post a rough mix somewhere.

I just kept going, don't be afraid to completely trash an idea. just keep going until you find something that YOU like. Taking a break and listening to music helps me a lot. Just play around with your keyboard til you find something good, and then keep adding to it. You can restart as much as you want, but DON'T GIVE UP!

soundcloud.com/olympicgamestheband/confetti-sweeper

>finding something you like
Right. It just fucks me up that I don't know what's going on when I have that thing and the things that I do with it. I'm not even sure what I don't know, as dumb as that sounds.
>keyboard
I'm currently learning that as a way of bettering my comp abilities.
>find something good, then keep adding to it
Is that how you go about it? I feel fucked up when I do that. It's feels like I have no ability to actually hear a concept in my head and am just dicking around plucking notes down.

This keyboard practice combined with the ear training, the theory learning, the composing, and the lack of guidance on how to go about these things is very demoralizing. I have no idea if what I'm doing is right or if I'm on setting myself on an inefficient grind.
Hopefully there's a light at the end of this tunnel.
>don't give up
I'm gonna keep going, user. I have goals I want to meet. But god damn, this shit is overwhelming.

Saved. I love dreary pictures.

I wrote autistic music for my childhood story. There's a few different versions of this song, which was a lament for the death of the main characters wife.

soundcloud.com/thestoryofthewhos/lament-for-trielle-shortened

There's a few different versions. I also wrote a lot of it, about 300,000 words of prose and about 500 drawings that weren't much good. It was basically imagining objects in the real world as part of a giant sci-fi planet, like department stores as massive industrial fortresses. Started this as an autistic habit when I was little. It was catharsis many times in my life. Trielle was a good character I miss her, and her husband Orion who was my alter ego. He died in an epic sacrifice which I later regretted and brought him back to life, which I regret even more. It destroyed death having any consequence and even though his resurrection scene was badass it basically destroyed my will to continue the story. I did off and on but not much anymore. Maybe cause im mid 20s now and maturing, but if i am, I don't like where it's taking me.

Anyway there's a few other tracks on there from different parts of the story, as well as alternate versions of the Trielle piece. One user said it was pretty repetitive which I get, i wanted it to build but also not be too intrusive, I wanted it to be almost ambient. I was thinking of buying Ableton instead of using "soundfonts" in Finale which is basically MuseScore, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

I'd explain more but I'm near character limit so if you just search Trielle in the archives you'll probably find the other 100 times I've posted this shit and the story of how she died. I'm gonna lurk this thread a bit then go to sleep.

Attached: 1480395241596.jpg (2976x2366, 1011K)

I think of it this way. I'm NOT going to be able to create something like the music I listen to in a few hours... Nobody can, so I just work on small things throughout the day, and eventually within a few days or so, I have a pretty nice track. Stop trying to create something stellar in a few hours. Music takes patience, persistence, and most importantly, failure.

an user said I should post this here, so here goes nothing
vocaroo.com/i/s1eFBFCXS8A8

You people are so good at what you do that I'd only feel embarrased posting my shit alongside everything else in this thread. It's like bringing poorly made homemade food to a high end fancy restaurant.

Eh, I'd say post it anyway. Don't think anybody here would look down on you

I remember you from that thread. Anything else you made lately?

Is Minecraft allowed?

Don't think anyone would object to you posting something you built in minecraft. Last time I played it with a friend I went full autism and built bunkers everywhere to defend against a naval invasion

Gonna bump this shit by posting an old track I made. Inspiration came from all the pictures of Goose lying in the snow from the new Bladerunner

There is better music in here than in the /mu threads. Well done, robots..

i posted this in a drugfeel general a while back but no one replied
I thought about my sight radius and my position mathematically
doesn't mean i think much but i thought it looked dope

What is that supposed to be? Is it something you worked out mathematically or something?

yeah, that looks dope as heck. i like it.

Shitty music! Just kidding, bro.

I've heard Ableton is good.

Beautiful painting, legit belongs in a museum.

very cute, creative linework--killer! keep working at it.
yes! more talented guitar people! i'm guessing you like john fahey, what with those string-bends, blues chords, moments of dissonance, and picking patterns. the emotion is absolutely there; i would encourage you to perfect this piece--as well as other ones, potentially--and get yourself produced professionally. it's really on a professional level, man. just about. my only complaints are that it fails to progress toward the last few minutes--though the double picking on the same string works as a great closer--and that the timing is occasionally off, and not in a stylistic way a la john fahey, but off where you wouldn't want it to be, where it's clearly a slip-up. otherwise sublime. thanks for sharing!
don't unless you really feel you could contribute something unique, and want to work hard at bringing it to fruition
okay, usually i hate djent a lot, and the dillenger escape plan, and most of the other bands involved in "mathcore" and whatever. but the tones you managed to get out of your instruments are great. the skippy edits work very very well, surprisingly. if this is a one-man band project, i highly encourage you to collect a few of these tracks and submit them to your favorite underground metal label, because this is remarkably polished and professional sounding, and i can already envision kids karate-moshing in hardcore clubs nationwide. not a fan of the synths, and maybe the song is a little too long for its own good (wasn't vibing to well with the emotional post-hardcore melodies toward the end, although it probably comes down to taste and it clearly took lots of hard work to make the transitions seamless). but holy shit man. you are on your way to stardom if most of your material is this consistent. thanks for sharing!

>tfw I only have 1 metal themed wojak
Thats pretty face melting man. What do you use to record? I have enough riffs to make a thrash album or ep but am to poor to get into a studio, plus my thumb tendon on my pick hand is like torn or something so its really painful to play hard. Your stuff is really professional sounding how long did it take you to learn to get that quality?
