Im not any of the other posters, but what is it that you think that you can do to help someone that they haven't already heard an infinite amount of times before? Unless you plan on befriending them, which assumes that you have similar interests, there is nothing that you can do to save these people. The only way they can be saved is if they start taking the necessary steps themselves. No person who exists as text on a screen is going to motivate them.

Due to social circumstances men are encouraged to "suck it up" more often leaving many cases undocumented. My guess is realistically its probably 50/50.

Men commit suicide a good percentage more than women. However, women will attempt suicide more on avervage with less successful suicides. Men in society are not allowed to feel weak and dont allow themselves to feel weak. To many to reach out for help is a sign of weakness.

Fair but social media does not perfectly reflect life. The psychology you observe in places, especially outside the U.S. is not held to the standard you aspouse and what we see in third word countries are bigger suicide rates and lower reported rates of depression. Find a better argument.

Youre reading too far into what I said. I never made any value judgement about indicators of depression. Franky it does make sense for women to have and report major depression, and it also makes sence to make sure society has a safety net to help those women even if they carry out suicide less often than men.

Depression for a female is not the same as depression for men.. Men commit suicide in way larger scales than women and that should say something about the severity of mens depression compared to women. Women like attention, they are biologically wired to and "depression" is a way to obtain it.
