Corporate takeover of the internet

In another 10 years, the internet will just be Facebook and YouTube and other normie sites. And they'll require paid subscriptions.

What will we do then?

In 10 years satellites to provide unfettered internet access will be a thing and I can just use that. Otherwise I'll use DIY long range wifi like systems for peer to peer internet sharing.

create a mesh network of losers

>corporations provide services including
>theyre taking it over!

do u think the internet just exists on its like the Sun does?

We will all migrate to the next type of Internet obviously. Darknets, or local neighborhood Internets.

But who will use these private networks? It'll just be one handful of sad hobbiests, like the people who use ham radio.

theres nothing wrong with ham radio, at least it weeds out the normals

Yes but my point is that part of the fun of anonymous posting such as this is there is still an element of new users appearing. Without that it'll just be the same few people talking to one another. May as well just start a Facebook group or something equally lame.

>But who will use these private networks?
Probably the same type of people that originally used the internet and made it awesome. I don't know if you know this but you're literally saying
>soon the internet will be all normie tier and shit
that's what your implication is.
Then you just asked
>Who would use the awesome original style internet?
THE ORIGINAL TYPES OF PEOPLE WHO MADE THE INTERNET AWESOME BEFORE IT WAS TURNED TO SHIT.

robots would just do what they did before r9k, whatever that was

>FUCK COMMUNISM ENTERPRISE SHOULD BE FREE FROM LAW
>Corporations grow more influential than the government, effectivelt making them the government unbound by law
>ITS THE LEFT'S FAULT

See
With no new users, or the potential of new users perusing by, it'll be a sad circle jerk that will die out rather than grow.

A better solution would be de-centralizing the internet. But that's not going to happen.

There will always be niche communities on the internet. Unless something extremely drastic happens at least for the next 50 years I predict. I find that it's pretty easy to boycott most social media except youtube since it's a site with shit you actually can't find anywhere else. Our only hope is that these new waves of demonetization and copyright strikes will encourage more people to defect from youtube.

Darknet is already becoming more popular and viable. People are still gonna prefer to use forums and chatrooms though.

As per usual the answer is somewhere in the middle, bureaucratic over regulation should be avoided but we also shouldn't let companies do whatever the fuck they want with no consequences.

50 years? Seriously? You can't make a prediction like that with a technology that hasn't even been around that long to begin with.

My prediction, regrettably, is that in ten years the internet will be a place where you can't say anything you wouldn't want your name and face attached to, where hate speach is illegal, posting pictures of your ex will land you in jail, and if you call someone a faggot you get a fine for intolerance.

The TV is still used by billions of people and it's been around for over 70 years or something. The internet is much more widely used than the TV was when it started out and it's much more useful and entertaining. You're a fucking idiot if you think the internet is going away anytime soon. Even if we lived in the nightmarish leftist dystopia you're saying we will live in the internet would still be way to entertaining and useful to discard even for the greasiest neets. The only way the internet would be done away with is something similar but new came along like a neural internet of some kind. That shit won't happen until we're both in our 80s and shitting ourselves in our depends, though.

What? I never said the internet would go away. I said it would be sterilized, normie-ized, and corporatized. And it will be.

I thought r9k might be on the same page with me here but I guess not. Give it a few years and see what you think. I've seen the writing on the wall.

>where hate speach is illegal
Wouldn't be possible in any country with actual free speech laws
Then, again, each and every site can promote his own rules.

ITT: basement-dwelling NEETs thinking they are the ones who created internet

Meshnet will be oldschool internet 2.0
Hopefully

They aren't but they're the ones who really made it a part of their personal lives first, the sentiment is justified

good, I welcome that change

They are literally the newfags. Everyone else got internet before. Because they were not dependent on their parents rolling out a cable into the basement.

The internet is not what you think it is, you are referring to the world wide web, of which there are many alternativies, before the WWW there was the usenet and it's still operative.

>some semantics
Okay everyone else let's continue discussing the decline of the internet

True
OP just wants to go back to when his demographic was the normies that got pandered to due to majority status

It's not semantics you literal retard, the internet and the world wide web are two completely different things, one was made by the USA and the other was made by programmers at the CERN.
