Being in a position where you have kids you love with an ex-wife that you hate is literally the worst thing that can happen to man. I've seen it firsthand and it's soul crushing beyond belief. This guy I knew through a mutual friend was in that position with his young daughter and it was just constant warfare that consumed his entire life. Every fucking day, emails, threats, phone calls to lawyers, court appearances, shouting matches on the phone etc. Twice a week he had to arrange this contentious child pick ups with his ex and whichever asshole boyfriend (who were always trying to be all tough and protective to impress her) she had at the time. Sometimes cops had to be called to moderate these pick ups. Once he had the kid in his control, he had to invest all of his energy into countering all of the wild shit told his kid about him, just so he could restart the process again next week after she has her custody. Every little thing was dictated by the judge, and both parties were looking for any infraction they could find so they could snitch and get a better custody arrangement. Neither parent could move out of state (unless they gave up custody or mutually agreed upon a location) so they were trapped in some shit tier small college town with no opportunities for career advancement until the kid turns 18. The guy was left with zero disposable income (due to the divorce settlement, legal fees, childcare costs) so he had to work some shit tutoring job all day just to come home to an empty studio apartment and eat fast food. Any new relationship he tried to get into would be invariably ruined by the tons of baggage which he had with his ex.
I could go on but just trust me, it's a fucking nightmare. If you're ever have to deal with an unplanned pregnancy, and are on the fence about whether or not you should get an abortion, do it. Trying to "work out" raising a child with someone you're not completely compatible with will destroy your soul.
